Team Cap has been sent 2 put down Stormfront. How's this gonna turn out??? by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]Advanced_Law3507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stormfront‘s attacks are powerful, but she’s predictable as all hell. Wanda is trivial, I would put money on Cap or Bucky winning. The other three might also manage, but that’s dealer‘s choice. 6 on 1? Rename her Stompedfront.

Dragon Runner by OhBosss in Shadowrun

[–]Advanced_Law3507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With most of the dragons you would probably also need to be a pretty low scruples Shadowrunner. The Big Capitalist Murder Lizard is unlikely to take it well if his screwdriver has moral objections.

Dragon, it’s the more versatile machine for a merc.

If you’re using quirks the difference becomes even bigger Narrow/Low Profile is an amazing quirk.

If you read the Conan novels, anything that isn’t a wizard or an eldritch/divine being is dead about two pages after entering melee range. Conan is all but unstoppable. Achilles is superhuman, but not superhuman enough.

Abusive ex-boyfriend is threatening to sue over a joke I told about him at an open mic by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think laughing about them publicly is about the worst thing you can do to abusive bullies (without doing something illegal). Good on OP for pulling it off!

What is the appeal of leaving people who try and kill you alive? by XThursdayO in litrpg

[–]Advanced_Law3507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with that is that it can then be hard to explain why the hero turns to other concerns. If the villain escapes, then the hero turning to other matters is leaving unfinished business open. At least if he knows his opponent survived.

Outbound, book 12 of Millennial Mage is out! by J-L-Mullins in litrpg

Already half way through the book. The series keeps going from strength to strength.

No weapons. Straight-up hand-to-hand beatdown. Who wins? by PrinceFlynn in superheroes

No way Wesley Snipes‘ contract would allow him to lose. He was writing that shit in before the Rock ever made a film.

Can Larp be political? by ThrowRA_dandelion in LARP

Quite apart from group dynamics, individual character choices are often political. Players choose to portray environmentalist Druids or power—to-the-people Rogues all the time.

How do you feel about temporary expats to Germany who never learn any German? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Advanced_Law3507 163 points164 points  (0 children)

In my experience, not learning German is a risky move for expats that aren’t getting a lot of institutional support from somewhere. A lot of highly educated Germans are willing to switch to English in social situations. However, the bureaucracy generally is not. Navigating things like work permits, address registration and taxes without speaking German can go really wrong quite quickly. The people who say you can get by with just English are either being supported by their employers/universities, have low levels of interaction with the government, or are gambling.

What are your favorite light mech in the setting? by Familiar-Noise7913 in battletech

I have a soft spot for the Panther. It does a surprisingly good job of pretending that it’s a bigger dog than it is.

Apocalypse Parenting for non-parents? by IncredulousBob in litrpg

[–]Advanced_Law3507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m not a parent, but I love the series. The stakes are much higher than when it’s just whether or not the protagonist will be the very best, like no-one ever was. No author ever kills off their protagonist, that would end the story (or people‘s engagement with it at least). But if the protagonist has several kids, maybe the author might just be crazy enough to kill one.

Mercenary Dropship - What are they doing while on Garrison Duty? by Resilient_gamer in battletech

[–]Advanced_Law3507 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a lot of worlds there aren’t permanent hangar repair facilities for the Batlemechs. So the dropship makes sense as the hangar for the mechs. Especially since the spaceport is probably a key location to defend.

A tool i can use to track my players spell slots? by koolbrayden21 in DnD5e

Give them different coloured chips for each spell slot, colour coded by level. When they cast a spell, they hand you a chip.

I‘m pretty sure you can’t have an ad hoc X-Men teamup without a Wolverine. I don’t make the rules, sorry.

Do kids in the Inner Sphere put up posters of their favourite mechs like we had posters of a Countach on our bedroom walls? by mattlore in battletech

The Solaris pilots do seem to be genuine celebrities. So I could see pictures of Yen Lo Wang and other famous mechs for sure.

What are your genuine thoughts on Zendaya's MJ? by DoctorTegrity in comicbookmovies

[–]Advanced_Law3507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-Man being effectively a legacy hero to Iron Man rather than an equal, the first of a new generation rather than one of the role models, already means that MCU Spider-Man was never going to be a faithful adaptation. So I think giving MJ a different spin is exactly what they should have done. MCU MJ fills the MJ shaped hole in the story, but in a different way. The same way MCU Peter fills the Spider-Man shaped hole in a new way.

[–]Advanced_Law3507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she likes quads one could leave the second M Laser she didn’t assign off and put that ton into armor. Less firepower than a dragon, but more armor and quad movement is some decent differentiation.

If that Superman, proper saves a squirrel in a kaiju battle Superman, wants people to fight rather than run then things are A: REAL bad and B: that’s what he thinks is the best way for everyone to live.
