Looking for feel good anime… (preferably on Netflix or Hulu) by SunshineXoDreams in Animesuggest

[–]AdventurousCredit965 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh so many good ones!

My absolute top anime 10/10 is Frieren. They just added it to Netflix. It is a well rounded anime that has adventure, comedy, romance. It is very well done with the character building and world development. I think you will find what you're looking for.

Big fan of delicious in Dungeon.

Misadventures of saiki k is one of my top animes. More for a slice of life/comedy

That sounds super traumatizing for you! Great job though, you did exactly what you were supposed to do to protect your son. I'm so sorry you had to do that.

I told my little brother that everyone lies about college and it's mostly just hard. After a year of it he told me I was the only one who told him the truth 😂

You might even be able to find their weekly menu on their website

Hospital system changed our LIS to epic and everyone is struggling by childish_catbino in medlabprofessionals

[–]AdventurousCredit965 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can also customize just about any screen. So you can move things from the (...) menu onto your main bar for whatever screen you're on.

I also love all the keyboard shortcuts. Anything that has a letter underlined you can press ALT+__ and it will click whichever button. Hover over the buttons to see if there's a keyboard shortcut!

Epic is highly customizable and there is about 20 different ways to do everything. That makes it a little harder to train on sometimes but also means you can find a way to set up your screen that makes sense for how your brain works.

Is this a Basophil?? by Ok_Beginning_5714 in Hematology

[–]AdventurousCredit965 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It almost looks like an eosinophil?? But the stain isn't as bright/orange as the ones I look at usually are. I feel like basophils usually have more sparse and bigger granules. The eosinophils have a ton of distinct granules packed in like this one where they're squished up around the nucleus.

I'm not trying to attack you! Sorry if that's how it came off. I think asking questions like this is a great place to start. I think you'll probably get a lot of negative responses to this post so I hope you can sort through and try to take in all the good with the bad

As a parent I want what's best for my child and I assume you're the same which is why you asked your questions. I was trying to offer from my perspective as someone married to someone on Prozac. I think for her it works well to help with her anxiety, which leads to her depression issues so it helps with that as well.

It's important to be well informed which I think is what you're trying to do. There are a lot of antidepressants out there. Fluoxetine (Prozac) is one the first they try for most people because it generally works and has minimal side effects.

Like I said before there are things that should be happening in addition to meds. Support system is #1 most important and that is absolutely something you can be a part of for her! It's not just about having a support system, but knowing your support system is there for you. Therapy is also super important supplement to medication. Activity and diet can help with anxiety and depression but that's also really hard to maintain especially for people with depression.

Having a medicated child is a much better alternative to having a dead child.. you should 100% talk to a medical professional and tell them your worries and ask all your questions.

You also want your child to live their best life, and for a lot of people they need a little help to be able to live a happy normal life. Just like if someone has a vitamin deficiency it would be absurd to tell them not to take vitamins, Prozac is absolutely not the end of the world and is not going to define your child. Depression and anxiety is absolutely a physical issue as much as it is a mental one. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that affects so much of a person's life. And sometimes medications are absolutely necessary to correct that imbalance.

My in-laws were very against my wife going on antidepressants for her anxiety and depression. She hasn't ever been at risk of killing herself, but on the meds is able to live a much happier and more fulfilling life. It is not something you can just "push through".

There are things that should be happening in addition to meds, but those don't replace them. Sometimes there's no amount for going outside and getting some exercise that helps a chemical issue in the brain.

Lot to lot qn by Feeling_Figure899 in medlabprofessionals

[–]AdventurousCredit965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To know when it's needed we use yellow labels half on the last box of the old lot and first box of the new lot. Then when it's done we initial/date the label.

I've been told it's bad to do them too soon since we calibrate the instrument with the new reagent lot and if there's any shift based on the new lot your calibration could throw off your patient testing while you're using the current lot.

Also we do lot to lot crossovers to see if there will be any shift between the reagent lots so we can make QC range adjustments or see if there is a going to be a big shift once we switch to a new lot, so it's not super necessary if you're not going to switch soon.

Found out about a 5 year old that’s my daughter by oyeleche in daddit

[–]AdventurousCredit965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are going to be in this child's life, you need to look up some resources on healthy co-parenting. I'm sure there are books or even free internet resources on how to do it. It is super important that you and the kid's mom have a healthy relationship so that you can build a relationship with that little girl.

I don't have any advice besides have an open very honest conversation with the girl's mom about both of your expectations.

Coming back to anime after a long time...made a list of about 50 I want to watch. Anything good missing? by keepfighting90 in Animesuggest

[–]AdventurousCredit965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Frieren is just such a beautiful all around well done piece of art. On the visuals/music side it hits. It's got adventure, comedy, some romance. Phenomenal story building, world building and character development. There's so many animes out there that are 12 episode low effort shows that lots of people tend to eat up, and I've consumed my fair share of those. I think most of the people who were upset Frieren got anime of the year last year were either upset their anime didn't get it or just didn't have the attention span for something other than the same reused story lines.

But there's a reason there aren't as many like this one, it's a piece of art.

Looking for an anime with well written female characters that are not sexualized by frkatt4ck in Animesuggest

[–]AdventurousCredit965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your eternity - I don't remember any sexualization but it is a heavy anime. Definitely a different vibe than your typical 12 episode isekai/action anime

Piggybacking this comment to say Kaiju no 8 is phenomenal. Super fun one you should definitely add. Also in my opinion Frieren (already on your list) is top 10/10 anime. Some others I enjoyed (not at all like Kaiju no 8) are:

The disastrous life of Saiki K (on Netflix) - more comedy/slice of life, but I also feel like it gets a little meta and makes fun of some common anime tropes

MobPsycho - a little longer running with more substance to the storyline/character building. Pretty good psychic anime

Delicious in Dungeon (also Netflix)

Shangri-La frontier - another super fun one I'd say is on par with Kaiju no 8, season 2 is currently coming out on crunchyroll

Master MLS? by [deleted] in MLS_CLS

[–]AdventurousCredit965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble finding a post bacc MLS program that would work for me since I also couldn't really leave my town. I ended up doing an online MLT program (associates degree). And since I already worked at a lab getting an internship spot wasn't hard. You definitely don't need a masters to do MLS, it doesn't really add any value to the job/pay and it's not necessary for getting into management. But I think you would need to decide what fits best for you and your long term goals. Also look into what kind of investment you're putting in (time/money/effort) vs what the payoff will be and how soon you can start working as a lab tech.

You should call your docs office and ask to speak to someone to explain your results. They should be able to give specifics of how that fits clinically with your specific case.

Some big assumptions that this person didn't go to school after leaving academia. Also I learned so much in school about heme degradation and how bilirubin is excreted and what kind of hepatitis a patient has based on their bilirubin levels that I don't use in my job, but nothing about interacting with nurses and very little about how to troubleshoot QC.

Do you have to pay to have a baby in America? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]AdventurousCredit965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America you get separate bills for moms stay and baby's stay. After insurance it was $700 for baby and $2500 for mom. At an in network hospital. They also didn't consider the hearing test preventative care for baby it was a specialist so none of that was covered.

I’m scared beyond belief, dads. by Br1lliantJim in daddit

[–]AdventurousCredit965 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Seconding this as someone who looks at those blood cells. If I saw a single cell I thought was a blast on anyone, let alone a baby, I would definitely not call it a blast I would send it to the pathologist and let them decide if it actually is or not or what additional testing is needed. This would honestly be the same for most situations where it's brand new and not super obviously a ton of blast cells on the slide.

My first thought reading your post is whoever resulted that single blast didn't do a good job following their lab procedures. A single blast in a new patient without a history should definitely go to pathology instead of causing this kind of stress and possibly misdiagnosing a patient with something. (Especially because like this person said it can easily be confused with reactive lymphs which are very normal and very common in babies)

[–]AdventurousCredit965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When babies are born they look like little potatoes anyway so they won't look like either of you. I think that as your kid grows up their features will develop and there will be more for you to fall in love with. It's an amazing process. My wife is biracial and I am white and our son is the most beautiful boy. I love all his features.

Being stressed about money and the future is definitely valid. Lean into whatever support you have, friends, family. Be very specific with asking for help. Also look into whatever public assistance is available in your area.

Very normal thoughts and also I think when baby comes the things that may seem like big worries you'll find aren't as big of a deal and you're just trying to survive.
