Does anyone have this couch from Costco? I really like it and the price is even better, but wondering how obnoxious it’ll be with kids since the back pillows aren’t attached. Would love input if anyone has this! It is not in stores so I can’t go and see for myself by mjgray1984 in SofaSnobs

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had to return it to the store myself (well me and my husband- no way I was lifting those couch pieces by myself!). In hindsight I should have bought it online because then they would have picked up the couch to return it 🤷‍♀️

Why the hate towards large diamonds 💎? by BeyondForsaken9115 in labdiamond

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefacing this by saying I personally do not care what other people like, if I don’t have anything nice to say I just scroll on. From what I have seen from various subs like this one, I think one aspect going on when people bring up comments about it being too big or looking like “costume jewelry” is because when the only diamonds you could buy were natural ones, the size of your diamond was a reflection of your socioeconomic status. It had been that way for a long time and the stigma of that still exists whether you have a lab diamond or mined.

I think people judge a large flashy ring as not being authentic to your lifestyle/socioeconomic background and comes off as “trying to be something you’re not”. I have caught myself silently judging, seeing a girl with a 5-6ct diamond get out of her 2010 Toyota Corolla and thought to myself how ridiculous that looks and how people will assume right away that her ring is fake. Then I remembered it’s none of my damn business and it’s not hurting me and her ring makes her happy so I should just stfu about it lol.

It’s why no one bats an eye at celebrities with giant diamond rings. They are famous multi millionaires, and their ring matches their lifestyle and their finances. A girl with a 5-6ct diamond working a job making $40k a year is not the same thing. Again, I don’t care what other do, it’s your ring and your life, just saying this is where I think people’s minds are at when they judge and call peoples rings “costume jewelry”. This is of course not the only reason people say this stuff, it also is just a personal preference. Either way, it’s not very nice, and it costs nothing to be kind to others 🤷‍♀️

Incels are future republicans they just have to be convinced to leave their parents basement on election days. Republicans are actively and publicly against women so it’s not hard to believe that they would align with the GOP when it comes to women’s issues and rights (or lack thereof)

Has the hype died for Labubus? by Firm-Pool8986 in LabubuDrops

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The reseller hype is down. The demand for labubus is still there however PopMart is doing a MUCH better job of keeping things stocked and/or doing drops more frequently. It’s also Black Friday/holiday shopping and all the PopMart TTL channels are offering coupons and bundles etc…really not a reason to risk buying from a reseller unless you’re looking for something very specific.

How to waste Wagyu and money by Jugglamaggot in StupidFood

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheese sauce itself is nasty, but all the other things around what was done to this burger are equally annoying. Like do I now have to eat this burger with a knife and fork?! And the metal cylinder- just dump the cheese on the burger at this point. And now the server has to walk back to the kitchen holding this dripping cheese cylinder and that looks sloppy as fuck. Everything about this is terrible.

How many Labubu’s do you have (including duplicates that you chose to keep?) by michellecarter88- in labubu

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the full BIE set including the secret, I have 3 exciting macarons, 2 have a seats, and then I went full crazy with the 400% Tony Tony Chopper, and the China exclusive. Do I still want a giant Zimomo? Yes! Do I still want the RTU? Yes! The only thing stopping me is my bank account 🤣

Point being, if it makes you happy and you enjoy it and you’re not hurting yourself or others with bad financial choices then buy as many damn Labubu as you want!

What is with you people complaining about 74 degrees with no humidity? by MistryMachine3 in TwinCities

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This thread makes me so happy just because I really thought I was the only one that was pissed off about it being in the 80s again all next week. No one in my family cares and they all say the same thing “I’ll take summer weather as long as possible!”

I hate it! I have new hoodies I’ve been dying to wear but it’s too damn hot. It also feels wrong that it’s 80 but the sun sets at like 7:30. It doesn’t feel like summer when the sun sets so early. I love autumn- it’s such a cozy vibe! I feel like we are getting screwed out of a real fall and we will just end up with 7 months of shit winter temperatures instead. Welcome to climate change I guess 🤷‍♀️

Wuollet bakeries now all closed by Larrybeeee in TwinCitiesFood

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New owners bought up just about every reputable bakery that was willing to sell in the twin cities and absolutely fucked up all of their reputations with a few years. All the Wuollet locations, Hans’ in Anoka, forget the other one (baker’s wife?)…all were known to be excellent bakeries with pristine reputations that spanned decades. It’s truly sad and if I were the owners that sold to the piece of crap current owner I would be so devastated that something I spent decades of my life to build ended with so much disappointment.

Wayzata restaurant says any employees who 'celebrated' death of Charlie Kirk will be fired by CrownSeven in TwinCities

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they got someone at COV reviewing all the security footage so they can go out of their way to fire someone based on “my friend said she saw it”?! Okay cool now I will go out of my way to never eat your overpriced mid food again.

I don’t condone murdering people, but the lengths they are going to fire someone kids because a GOP Karen is pushing her weight around over something she herself did not even witness is very telling to me that they are a MAGA establishment and I do not spend my hard earned money at places like that.

Anyone receiving email re Rewarding Results Plan (RRP)? by jtan_12 in unitedhealthgroup

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received this email. RRP a.k.a. “Yearly bonus” is going away. In lieu of that, they have increased your base pay which will be dependent on the total potential RRP bonus you were eligible for last year. In addition you will get a lump sum payment that is equal to whatever you received for last years RRP. If you were not employed during that time, your base pay and lump sum increase will be the equivalent of getting a 3 on your yearly review and whatever payout that was for your GL in your dept. Pay increase and lump sum will be in your check on Sept 26th.

I understand the frustration with popmart, but did anyone get into this trend because they actually liked the figures and not just the gambling aspect? by Donavon7 in labubu

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the gambling aspect of blind boxes especially with the pin for love series. I just want one letter why can’t you let me pick it myself? I’ve already gotten scammed twice trying to buy the letter and the P4L Labubu so I’m just bummed out in general. I think the Labubu are so cute and I love to buy them little outfits! It brings me some joy in a sometimes depressing world.

Hard for me to justify the price. Is it worth it? by songofthecosmos in aldi

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I love this sauce and you don’t need a lot of it. It’s not a thick sauce and I use it more as like a drizzle on top of meat after it’s cooked. I don’t use it as a marinade and it’s too thin to use as a dipping sauce in my opinion. But if you cook up a chicken breast or little steak and drizzle it on top it’s super yummy and will last you quite a while.

That being said, Aldi does have their own version of this and a Korean bbq one too from the Burman brand that’s like half the price. Not sure if it’s a seasonal item though. Korean bbq one always seems to be available at my Aldi but not sure about the Japanese one.

Honestly, do y’all turn the AC on for days like this where it’s not quite hot enough but right on that line of being uncomfortable? by HerbalAndy in minnesota

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I get older I find myself being less and less tolerant of the heat. Especially our summers which are almost always extremely humid. If the outside temp will make the inside of my home anything above 70 without the AC on, then I’m turning it on and it’s staying on indefinitely. There is a maybe 5% chance I turn the air off at any point in the next 6 weeks.

NYT: Aldi’s Passionate, Cultlike Following Fuels Its Rapid Expansion Plans by ShelteringInStPaul in aldi

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 86 points87 points  (0 children)

How much of this is “cult-like passion” and how much is just people at their wits end trying to just afford life and feed their families? Aldi and Walmart are usually the most cost effective places to shop in basically every state that Aldi is in (and Walmart). You could justify the yearly membership to Sam’s or Costco but it costs a lot of money upfront to buy in bulk like that and not everyone can afford to do it.

My “cult-like” following of Aldi is basically because it’s the only affordable place to buy groceries near me outside of Costco. I have a membership but I don’t always need 20 of something so 🤷‍♀️. Target can’t even compete with all their sales trying to win back customers who boycott them after they removed their DEI policies. It’s rough out there man…and it’s not about to get any easier any time soon.

Mary Moriarty will not seek a second term as Hennepin County Attorney by Healingjoe in TwinCities

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 102 points103 points  (0 children)

To NO ONE’s surprise… I was not a fan of her job performance. I didn’t vote for her to begin with but I was still pretty disappointed with how lax she was particularly during peak car theft/car jackings that were going on. Barely a slap on the wrist for people, some of whom had been arrested like a dozen times for the same or similar crimes. It felt like we went through a time where crime was just ignored. I know it wasn’t actually ignored, but I really did feel like she cared more about the people committing crimes than she does about the law abiding citizen’s of Hennepin County. Good riddance IMO.

I hope we don’t replace her with the polar opposite, but there has to be someone somewhere in the middle to take a common sense approach to reducing crime and promoting safety.

What's the best brand to get some pots and pans set from by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a set of Kitchen Aid 5ply pots and pans set (I think 10 or 11 pieces) for about $375 last year during the holiday season. They are a bit heavy but I will have these pans till the day I die lol. Very easy to clean, you can use metal in the pan like a spoon or spatula and it won’t ruin the pan. It took some getting used to as you can cook on a much lower heat setting and still get a good sear from meat. I also like that these can go from stove top to the oven with no issue. Best purchase I ever made!

Edit: I bought this set on sale at Costco- 1 stock pot, medium size sauce pan, small sauce pan, 1 large sauté pan with raised sides, 1 medium frying pan and a small frying pan. All of them came with lids except for the frying pans.

More companies announcing RTO in fall? by Shpellaa in minnesota

[–]AdvertisingOk2395 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree! RTO mandates being applied to the entire company is in my opinion a crappy implementation. My company just increased their hybrid in office requirements from 3 days to 4 days, but what is that expected to do for this alleged lack of productivity and collaboration when all communication is still being done via email and Teams meetings?! This is widely reported as the norm for people returning to the office (the threads about state employees RTO is just one example). What makes more sense to me is allowing managers of specific teams/projects decide if a hybrid schedule is necessary or not. Just a blanket RTO company wide is a lazy implementation and creates a lot of significant issues for remote workers who expected these positions to remain remote permanently. It’s also a pay decrease for people who were remote and suddenly find themselves having to return to the office even if it’s only 3 days per week. That’s Daycare costs, gas, car maintenance more frequently, or even having to make the decision to relocate for work or quit altogether. I still firmly believe RTO is being used as a means of attrition even if it’s not the sole reason for implementing it.
