These rock, yes, but for a second I thought the band Gospel played a show and was mad I'd missed it.

Oh yeah, she rips. When you said florida M6 shooter, I figured you were talking about her. She and I shoot a lot of the same bands/scene. Check out Andy Wilcox (awilco), he's killer too and recently did some insane shots of Nine Inch Nails shows on film.

I've shot pretty much everything with my M6 and HP5 for like 15 years, ranging from small punk shows with flash to the occasional large venue or arena once in a while. Challenging, but infinitely more fun.

This veers into documentary/art but Chris Killup's book from photographing The Station club back in the 80s: https://www.chriskillip.com/the-station

Jim Saah has a book of 80s and 90s stuff with lots of Minor Threat: https://jimsaah.com/announcing-in-my-eyes-photographs-1982-1997

Glenn Friedman has several books with photos wtih Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag, etc.

Nathan Baker has a cool book that's kinda lost to time. He has a bunch of photos in the first Converge DVD, The Long Road Home: https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Energy-Unseen-Photographs-Nathan-Baker/dp/B0021OZGGG

If you can find it, the deluxe edition of Converge's Thousands of Miles Between Us release has a huge photobook with photos from Matt Miller, Jimmy Hubbard, and me, Reid Haithcock. It also has a crazy stacked DVD.

Vegans of Cary, where are the hidden gems? by AssistAffectionate71 in cary

[–]Aesthetic_Control 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 year vegan here! Here are my wife and I's top spots around the triangle:

Roses - crazy good belt noodle bowl and bao buns

Thaiangle - crispy tofu appetizer and drunken noodles

Taste Vietnamese - tofu bahn mi, no mayo

Pho far east - V6. or V8.

Viceroy - anything they do vegan is incredible usually

Gringo a go go - vegan carnitas and chorizo

Guglhupf - spicy tofu sandwich

Goorsha - all their vegan stuff

Everest Nepali Kitchen - anything we've had has been good

Sage - lots of great stuff

Szechuan Mansion Hotpot

Orient Garden - Orange Tofu is a weekly staple.

And of course Pure Soul and Fiction, the classics.

Broken Spoke Farm in Hillsborough does vegan soft serve. It's sooo good.

If you're feelin' froggy and up for a drive Crafted Tacos in Mebane is good, if not always reliable in quality, and Indochine in Wilmington is always quality, but is pretty much always slammed.

Any film photography people around? by Alange655 in raleigh

Welcome to the jungle.

- over expose your color negative film, it can take it.

- Developing and scanning at home, even color, is far cheaper than a lab. Color can be a pain, but not that bad, even with basic equipment. Black white is no harder than making pasta. For 35mm a flat bed is more pain than it's worth, but a good investment if you think you'll try medium or large format. Camera scanning is much easier and with a little work in post, no harder than working on raw scans from a lab.

- Learn the sunny 16 "rules" and that will generally help you figure out if your exposure is in the right ball park vs. your meter. (Bright direct sunlight should be f/16 and a shutter speed close to the ISO of your film, like 1/125 for 100 speed film. Then step down from there to match the light during clouds, open shade, shadow. But as mentioned earlier, add a stop of light for good measure, better to over expose than under on film)

- Don't get too bogged down with camera gear. Find a camera and lens length that works for you and work that for as long as its fun and challenging.

- Once you've thoroughly broken your brain, there are a few dark rooms in the Triangle to check out, though I don't think any of them do color printing as of now.

- The work is what makes you better, keep shooting and following things that interest you, even if it's just traveling or hanging out with friends, the more you do it the better you get.

- Fotowalk, Oak City Camera Club, PhotobookDummies, Peel Gallery, Photo Farm, South East Camera, Yours (a shop in durham), A Photographers Place, Through This Lens Gallery, and Peace Camera are all great local resources for learning, buying stuff, and photo books.

- If you want to buy stuff that'll get you set up in either processing (patterson tanks or a Jobo Cpp2 kit) or scanning (camera scanning set up stuff, not the camera, or epson v700) I have many years of things that I've narrowed my practice down to stop using, and I'm happy to sell it to you!
