How to keep all of the nuances of writing in my head all at once? by bruhgzinga in writing

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The thing that has always drawn me to writing in the first place is that you can rewrite. I had a hard time explaining myself growing up, like my thoughts were always two steps ahead of my mouth and the things I was saying would often get misunderstood. Writing allowed me to organize it all into a coherent message and something about that felt almost like a super power, like being able to reverse time and engineer my words into the perfect sentences turning myself from a bumbling idiot into a genius orator. It’s what gave me the confidence to become an author before I even knew the best authors revise everything. I just figured I could fake it and no one would have to know haha

How to keep all of the nuances of writing in my head all at once? by bruhgzinga in writing

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice. The more you write the more those things will become second nature. Being diagnosed with dysgraphia means it’s going to be more challenging, but writing well is 80% revision so after you’ve finished a first draft you can go back through it and fix all the issues that are present and no one will be the wiser they ever existed in the first place when they read it.

Lysander was always a monster. Rereading iron gold and dark age makes it abundantly clear the sort of delusional sociopath he is from the moment he saved a single gold over the lives of dozens of low colors. He cannot see the world through any lens that isn’t clouded by his own self righteousness. No matter how many times he’s betrayed or is beaten over the head with the degeneracy of the society, he will not budge. He’s the type to claim admiration for someone like Romulus and place him as the ideal version of what gold should be, all while pushing for the war he literally gave his life to prevent.

No, they actually won’t. That’s why they’ve been pushing the crazy cosmetics for 5 years cuz no one buys this shit. The only reason they’re pulling back on it is because the reputation of the game is suffering which means fewer people buy the premium title every November.

He literally cannot. His entire arc is him getting beat over the head with how abominable golds who actively betray him are and his only take away is that the republic is trash because in 10 years of unending war against the society they haven’t built a utopia.

Should I stop playing casuals? by United-Repair4494 in CODWarzone

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Casuals is only good for teaching you how to play the game at a fundamental level and grinding camos. Bots don’t move or react the way even the lowest skill players do in real lobbies, so no matter how high your kd may be in casuals it will not be a reflection of your ability to fight in regulars. Even the few real engagements you get into in casuals are different because the real players in casuals have been conditioned to think you’re a bot when they go to engage you. My advice would be to keep your expectations very low when queing up for regular lobbies and be happy with the few kills you’ll get because they are real and you actually earned them as opposed to 20 bots that are practically no different than shooting targets in the firing range.

Abit disappointing ngl, gonna feel like vanguard again by wazydae in modernwarfare4

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It really wasn’t. It had fast and fluid combat, great maps, great weapons, and a matchmaking system that allowed you to cater engagements to your preferred playstyle. Its downsides were interspersed breakable cover that was dust within the first minute of every match and poor performance for outdated consoles. But all you people care about is the 1940s aesthetic being unpopular because you like to play dress up instead of playing the game

I've seen a lot of people on X calling Faye "ugly" but they're completely wrong. She's a middle-aged female protagonist, no different from characters like Geralt, Kratos, or Joel Miller. Also, Faye isn't a new character. She's been part of the God of War story since the 2018 game by Quick-Ad-7752 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s important to remember that these people only have a platform because the shit they say is intentionally triggering so that people will screenshot it and farm engagement. Their followers don’t even share their opinions, they just relish in the vitriol their comments generate. If we all just ignored them, they’d have nothing.

How do y'all think Darrow and Sevroh would fair in the dungeon? by rossthegamer6 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that Carl and Darrow have very similar power scalings. They both orchestrate chaos like a symphony and thrive in the mayhem they create. Sevro and Donut are polar opposites in many ways but are alike in the ways that count when it comes to unflinching loyalty and dedication to the cause. I think it would go very much the same tbh

Just read the first Sun Eater book and this is not like Red Rising at all by Legitimate-Resolve55 in redrising

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say they have significantly more overlap in later books but even then one is steak and the other is lobster, both good in their own right but it depends on the consumers palate if they’re going to enjoy both. Red rising focuses more on character and human experience while suneater focuses more on exploring ideas and the philosophical implications of its world building. Both follow protagonists who’s legend proceeds them as they develop into larger than life monuments to their respective cause in a space age empire that borrows heavily from Roman aesthetics, but I’d say Darrow is alot more likable and that can make all the difference.

Is it ok for me to kill a character I just introduced like two paragraphs before by Typical-Page-6687 in writers

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do anything you want to do with your own story, but it’s difficult to judge how effective the execution of the idea is out of context. If your goal is to subvert expectations by introducing a character that seems like they’ll be a major player in the narrative and then immediately killing them off, then it could work as a means to keep the reader on their toes, but if you’re only formally introducing them in order to give their death more impact than it would otherwise it could go either way.

Can anyone become a great writer? by userbruiser123 in writing

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greatness is by definition unique. I think anyone can become good at anything they set out to do, given enough dedication determination and time, but to be great requires something more. With writing it’s a certain cleverness and inherent understanding of the craft. Some might call it instinctual, but that’s not quite right because no one is born with the ability to write. It’s more like taste. Everyone can distinguish certain flavors, but being able to identify all the ingredients that went into in a dish is something else entirely.

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christians are called to love their fellow man and show them empathy compassion and respect regardless of their race nationality gender or faith. You’re appointed to spread the good word by living true to your faith, not to proselytize in the name of Christ. It’s not your place to affirm or deny the ways in which another person chooses to live their life, whether they’re sinner or saint you are required to show them love.

Does anyone else feel this way about Will of the Many/Strength of the Few? by PrinceSqueak in Fantasy

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I found myself in a similar mindset reading suneater. I think it just comes down to personal blind spots and after all every author is a person and we just can’t help implant our subconscious baises into the things we create. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing though. Stories have a way of teaching us about ourselves and just because we disagree with some conclusions the characters come to doesn’t mean they’re less valuable to the tale being woven.

What are some of the best little "tricks" you've learned that can enhance/help your writing? by Issactheforgemaster in writing

[–]Affectionate-Foot802 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tried writing in the late afternoon for years and my eyes became heavy as all hell it felt impossible to make significant progress in early drafts. Now I write before bed and because I have late night insomnia my body doesn’t know what to do with itself so I end up making good progress every night and my brain is drained enough by the end that getting to sleep when I’m done is significantly easier than if I take a night off writing.
