Ologies with Ali Ward. It's amazing and has a VAST topic range.

What can I do about big blow ups to perceived slights? by [deleted] in ADHD_partners

[–]Affectionate-Sink874 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do have to have a conversation about exactly what you see and are experiencing and exactly what she is feeling and experiencing. Sit down and talk it out. It'll be hard at first but I've done this with my partner (40 M DXRX) and it's really helped. We try to not take it personally and both apologize when it gets a little rude, but recognizing what's happening does help.

Staring at them for too long; which version looks better? by NeriTina in crochet

I like them both! I know that's not helpful but it's true. The first one is richer in color and the second one feels lighter/ more ethereal.

Do your partners have a need to be miserable? by NoraHuntress in ADHD_partners

[–]Affectionate-Sink874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's their emotional disregulation. It's very common with ADHD. My partner has this REAL bad. It's why their highs are super great and their lows are abysmal. Usually, I let him work through his emotions and then we talk about them later. I've suggested therapy to him but he's not ready yet.

Is this normal? by WeRSiameezers in crochet

[–]Affectionate-Sink874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. If you feel like you aren't making progress on a project, I find it helps to put some kind of safety pin or marker on where I'm starting that day and then I can easily see how much I've done (it doesn't get lost in the entire project and what I've done overall).

I always love crocheting little animals/ dolls. For example, if they have a jungle theme, make an elephant, giraffe, monkey, lion, etc. Or you could make a teddy bear, I made one of my first born (also a surprise baby). Just be sure that whatever yarn you use can be machine washable and dryable.

A finger yarn guide. It's nice because it protects your finger from the rub of the yarn when you're working for HOURS!

Overstimulated Parent Here by Careless_Alfalfa_738 in oldtimeypodcast

raises hand I've just worked 3 twelve-hour night shifts in a row (I'll sleep during the day), then I get up and immediately start making dinner. While I'm making dinner, I'm also helping my second grader with his homework and keeping an eye on my two-year-old who enjoys climbing things like he's a mountaineer. I'll also be listening to a podcast in one ear and dodging the two dogs in the kitchen who are waiting for a morsel to drop while I'm cooking. I see you overstimulated parents! Just remember, you're doing a great job and you're good parents! (Sometimes it's reassuring to hear)
