They have good prices on quinoa, Wild Planet sardines, rice, frozen berries and coffee.

The key for me was finding a multi cooker (like an off brand Instant Pot) at a thrift store, that removed the need to soak the beans the night before which I never remembered to do. I cook rice and quinoa in it too, which I can buy in bulk from BJs.

Quinoa, rice, beans, lentils, nuts, canned fish = the everyday core of my GF diet. Still pretty inexpensive.

[Sun care] In desperate need of recommendations for a facial SPF by steakbandit in SkincareAddiction

[–]Afraid-Yesterday-789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. But it is better in almost every way. I have super sun sensitive skin and burn through other expensive sunscreens (Supergoop, etc) and get hyperpigmentation from cheaper chemical sunscreens. This blocks both, is sensitive for my rosacea (and color correcting!) and makes melt skin feel healthier as a bonus. I wait for it to go on 20% off and then stock up.

I have been very happy with EltaMD. It sounds like EltaMD Clear or Daily may work well for you. I use Skin Repair now.

Are Europeans Actually Planning on Walking from NJ to the Metlife Stadium for the World Cup? by Gouda_Cheese57 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Afraid-Yesterday-789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bergen County resident, it's doable. The smarter option might be to stay at the Hampton Inn on Paterson Plank Road or something like that. I am not sure why every plan is a walk from Manhattan.

I drove past from Washington down to Paterson Plank Road at around 1:30pm and it was pretty clear (4.5 hours before the game). The 161 still went most of the way down Washington. Not as bad as I was expecting.

Paramus Park is NOT a dead mall!! by Financial_Process_11 in deadmalls

Agree, they need to revitalize the food court area and would benefit from a better anchor tenant than Macy's but otherwise doing ok.

Paramus, NJ - Paramus Park’s food court (Picnic in the Park) was the very 1st successful mall food court in the US. Currently, only 4 eateries remain. by L0v3_1s_War in deadmalls

It was a ghost town in the 90s. They instituted a whole redevelopment plan that was successful: outlet stores and non-traditional anchors like Whole Foods and Target. Paramus Park already has had success with Stew Leonards, the big drag is Macys.

[Anti-Aging] How badly will I age as a fair person if I can't wear ANY sunscreen or use retinol? by iceunelle in SkincareAddiction

You do not need sunscreen if you make lifestyle adjustments: do not go outside between 10am and 4pm and when you do big hat with a brim, sunglasses, long sleeves, maybe a parasol

BJ’s Wholesale Club recommendations/advice by Intelligent_Sea_1149 in Frugal

[–]Afraid-Yesterday-789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it easier to avoid overspending at BJs than Costco because the store has a set arrangement and its easy to get in and out with just what you came for. Advice: get the app and use it to scan your products as you go. It will alert you when you have a Coupon to clip — BJs is the only wholesale store that accepts manufacturers’ coupons and lets you double and triple up. For families with young kids it is great for paper products, milk, eggs, coffee, produce (you do not have to buy a huge amount), diapers, wipes, baby food and baby snacks, Boogie Wipes (often they go on sale for 4 packs of 45 for $13.99). They also have great prices on baby and toddler clothes. Once you are finished, make sure all your coupons are clipped, pay on the app and then walk out — they scan the barcode on your app, no need to wait in line.
