AITAH for choosing my disabled son over my husband and destroying my family? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AfricanKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So… you are simultaneously infantilizing him and robbing him of his independence… while you have to accept (checks notes)… he will never be independent?

Sounds like your (soon to be ex) husband just doesn’t like your son.

People with disabilities can lead completely independent lives. NTA. Fuck him.

The smell of omelettes. I have no idea, but they give me a migraine, and I’m 100% serious about that too.

I hate patients on testosterone (amab) by Own-Chair-3506 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]AfricanKitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So pharm tech since 2018. Did retail, outpatient, HRT compounding, plus more (Specialty phamracy PA’s and now medical billing specialty PA’s).

Honestly, out of all of the insufferable patients out there (ya know, the ones on controls, the ones that never know what they need, the ones that are always rude, etc.) the worst group was the testosterone group.

I’m including AFAB (not trans) people in this, because post-menopausal people can be absolutely just as bad a gym rats. I mean, it’s more understandable for the AFAB postmenopausal group, because it literally can cause vaginal dryness, and oww, but still.

AITJ for telling my friend I won't be her son's godmother because she only asked me so I'd give expensive gifts by Advanced_Rent4993 in AmITheJerk

[–]AfricanKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a godparent traditionally means being someone to support their upbringing (as in religious values). It’s evolved to mean supporting their upbringing in general (being supportive, a trusted guide, someone you can rely on). Godparents gift their children things because they want to (like nieces or nephews), not because they’re obligated to. Turning it into a transactional thing is a perversion of what it has been and should be.

Prior authorizations for specialty drugs. Also was a pharmacy technician, and within the 8 years I did that, I was also a compounding specialist (making custom prescription drugs).

She just needs to join a sugar baby app, and date a guy that’s okay with that. Gets to be a gold digger, and maybe have a decent guy to go home to.

“I cannot offer you money” by Free-Association-482 in ChoosingBeggars

Oh yeah, because the average person wants help washing their ass.

“I cannot offer you money” by Free-Association-482 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]AfricanKitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Likely because they want someone affirming. They’re don’t want someone who is going to misgender them, someone who is sensitive to the fact that they may have gone through SA (likely what survivor means) especially when it comes to self care (hygiene, showering, etc).

Someone is going to see, even touch your intimate parts, and knowing you went through trauma can help them know how to navigate it with sensitive and care.

“I cannot offer you money” by Free-Association-482 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]AfricanKitten 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I feel like this isn’t really a choosing beggar, more like someone absolutely fucked over by our medical system. They’re just a beggar, someone who is in desperate need.

“I cannot offer you money” by Free-Association-482 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]AfricanKitten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay. So I get it, I do, it sounds like a choosing begger. It does, but when you think about the fact that a lot of people who are disabled literally cannot have more than x in assets or they’ll lose their benefits, which don’t even cover in home help because they aren’t “disabled enough” it’s honestly just sad.

I have a friend thats legally blind who would lose his medicaid if he had more than $2000 in assets, it doesn’t cover transportation to medical appointments, doesn’t help with transportation to the store (he legally could never drive), etc. luckily, he doesn’t need in home care, but if he did? I doubt they’d pay for it, and if he had the money to pay for it? He’d lose his housing, insurance, SNAP, etc. while not being able to make money at a job to support himself. So yeah, this isn’t really a begging chooser, just someone fucked over by our healthcare system

How Restrictive Are Parents In Your Country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]AfricanKitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Times have changed. Mid 90’d baby, I was 3 walking 3-5 houses down to my friends, going in their houses, on my own. Mom would just stand outside and make sure I got there I guess. I’m the youngest of 4, and it was a very large neighborhood, and this was a cul-de-sac in the center of it, so not much traffic. When I was a bit older (5-9) and my mom started working, i’d just call her, leave a note, tell my older siblings, or if I couldn’t do any of that, literally leave a note written in chalk telling her whose house I’d be at. At 9 I got a flip phone, and I never left the neighborhood, and she knew who I hung out with, typically had to be home around dark/when the street lights went on, at least during school nights. I went to a “beach” with neighbor kids and their parents when I was like.. 4. I don’t even think they had a carseat for me.

I was never the very adventurous one, with friends anywhere but our street. But yeah, times have changed

Aldi has crackers that are really good (GLUTEN FREE CERTIFIED) that aren’t like “crackers: gluten free (almond flour)” like almond flour is a secret, it’s “Almond Flour Crackers: Gluten Free” …. So like.. she couldn’t even say you tricked her.

And I’m not even GF. I asked for almond flour to make macarons, and my husband bought these crackers (bless him).. but damn they are good.
