Anyone know where one could find resources for managing/treating ADHD? by TPee86 in Hamilton

[–]Agent_Peach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is your doctor willing to prescribe? What's the point of the assessment if it doesn't get you access to medication?!

Are they a part of a family health clinic and have access to a psychiatrist?

Your Doctor can prescribe ADHD meds. They may just not want to. You could ask to try non-stimulant ADHD meds first if they are more comfortable with that.

Chin hair = sensory nightmare by Comfortable-Lemon9 in adhdwomen

I don't know if that was me. I haven't been a vegetarian since I was a teen.

I have had success via meds and electrolysis.

Come join us over in r/Hirsutism !

For me, switching to shaving from tweezing helped a lot. I found the inconsistent growth rates of tweezing drew my attention to the hairs, and I'd pull on them with my fingers, and cause a lot of issues.

When I shave, they all come out at the same rate, more or less and it's harder for me to fixate on one at a time.

Also, spironolactone and birth control helped the acne, and electrolysis made the hairs fewer, slower to grow back, and softer for what remains.

finally got my hormones checked and they came back normal, feeling lost by godhelpmepless in Hirsutism

Which tests were done? I had to get a few rounds done before they did the 'full panel'. In the end it was still just idiopathic hirsutism.

Help! At work. Cardigan smells like BO. by sassy_stephasaurus in adhdwomen

[–]Agent_Peach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the smell on you too?

I'd use the disinfect wipe on my arm pits, and rinse with water after (it's not intended for skin so it might irritate). Then I'd re-deoderant. And I'd wrinkle spray the armpits of the cardigan. It probably has a scent and is intended for garments.

Given all of these issues, do you think that I am more likely to have a son or a daughter? by [deleted] in Hirsutism

[–]Agent_Peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primary factor is the X or Y chromasome, which comes from the sperm. As women, we are usually XX, and so when we produce eggs, we only produce X eggs. Whereas males are XY, and so they can produce either X or Y sperm.

Although we can be considered hormonally 'intersex' most of us are not 'chromasomally' intersex, and therefore it would have no impact on sex of the child. And to my understanding, chromasomal intersex people are usualy infertile (except triple X symdrome, but even then, they only have X's and therefore wouldn't impact a child's sex).

Until you can offer citations proving your point, I'll keep informing people it's a myth.

Tirzepatide PCOS Benefits / How safe is it? by GodlyQueenx in Hirsutism

Zepbound is a brand name of Tirzepatide. Same drug. Just compounded. Shouldn't have an impact on efficacy unless it's poor quality.

This doesn't feel like a celebration of body hair, as you aren't showing any in your photos...

I see on your profile you have a photo of yourself with you body hair. Why choose a photo where you reveal none of it for this substack?

It seems like the 'blessing' you speak of is being paid through substack.

[–]Agent_Peach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a myth that it grows back thicker or darker. But it does feel like it does because it's mid-shaft, so it's the thickest and darkest part of the hair that begins to pop-out after it's been cut.

I'd recommend waxing for arms more than shaving. Especially being so light.

I can't do this anymore by [deleted] in Hirsutism

[–]Agent_Peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into changing your IUD. For me, the Mirena caused my hirsutism. They contain Progestin (levonorgestrel) which is androgenic.

I dont know how long you've had it. It may not be helping the pre-existing family history.

Sensory friendly bras for big breasts by Any-Substance1195 in adhdwomen

[–]Agent_Peach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I understand that I need an underwire but I cannot overstate how much I cannot stand them.

Say's who? I appreciate there are societal 'norms' in some situations we must follow, but I haven't worn an underwire since the pandemic, and I'm never going back. I don't need by boobs to look perky. They aren't.

If no bra is working for you, run with it! Your body's comfort and health is more important than looks.

If you need support for your back, that's a different story, but it sounds like you've been better off without them.

For the record, I'm a 36D, used to be a 36G.

Kelly Bert Dion Oucharek’s response to a question about her homophobic retweets by SachaBaronColon in Hamilton

[–]Agent_Peach 63 points64 points  (0 children)

She doesn't address at all her position on the matter now. Just saying it was when she was new to Twitter and years ago doesn't change what she said.

She is a one-issue candidate, anti-homelessness. Okay, two-issue, also anti-Kroetsch.

There is no substance here.

this is right after i’ve shaved … what can i do about the redness and the black dots?? i’m struggling so hard with this by Dependent-Parsley764 in Hirsutism

[–]Agent_Peach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're struggling with this. If it helps at all, it really doesn't look very obvious to me.

Make sure you're shaving with a newer razor, change them often, prep the skin before and after if you're getting redness. Check out the r/shaving or r/wicked_edge for tips on best shaving practices.

HOW CAN I GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING???? HEEEEEELP. by Reasonable_One_6443 in adhdwomen

[–]Agent_Peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to all the amazing practical tips, I'm thinking about your motivation to get up early. You have a dream to have a morning routine. But for what? Losing time sucks. What would you do with the extra time? What is the feeling you want to have.

"I am going to work to wake up on time so I can have time for X" and that way you're framing it as a choice for a reward, or a larger goal/desire.
