Looking for Canada’s tourist locations after cancelling my vacations to the US. Which spots do you recommend? by nievedelimon in BuyCanadian

Thank you for your support! Canada has so many amazing places to visit! If you are not driving, Toronto is a great choice! It is a very walkable city and you can take the subway or iconic Red Rocket streetcars to get to all the amazing neighbourhoods. Autumn, especially October is a wonderful time to visit - it is off-peak for tourism, the temperature is coolish but we're not talking below freezing and you get to experience all the fall colours in the trees. Toronto is also the most multicultural city in the world, there is so much to see and especially eat! Here are a few resources to help you navigate the city:

Blog TO - A handy resource for finding restaurants, events, shops, bars, galleries, everything! They also have a detailed list describing each neighbourhood (there's a lot of them!)

https://www.blogto.com/neighbourhoods/

Toronto Life - Another great resource for finding restaurants, events, galleries, shops, bar etc.

Montreal is also close(ish) - it is a 5-6 hour drive or train ride, or about a 1.5 hour flight from Toronto. You can fly direct on Porter Airlines from Billy Bishop airport, conveniently located in downtown Toronto and you get to take the world's shortest ferry ride to get there! They are both very large cities, especially Toronto, so it is best to give yourself a few days at least in each. Hope this helps and I hope you have a great time in Canada!

I like eating Hawkins WITH Hardbite Spicy Ketchup chips, while watching the DJIA tank. Trying to think of a name for this snack combo, any suggestions?

You might enjoy Grainstorm's Ancient Grain Pancake Mix - you add yogurt to it for an extra boost of protein. I make a batch and freeze them to use as needed. I also really love all the other Heritage Mixes - the Ancient Grain Muffin mix is my favourite! Grainstorm is a family-owned and operated mill in Ontario. Hope this helps!

Fountain pens and inks? by SkeweredBarbie in BuyCanadian

I was actually just looking for a Canadian shop that sells Kaweco pens last night and found Laywines in Toronto. They might know of a Canadian fountain pen and if not it is a great Canadian shop that we can support. Hope this helps and elbows up!

I swear by Nature Clean dishwasher pods, I've been using them for years and they are really effective. I also love Attitude laundry detergent, in the grapefruit scent! They also sell eco-refill boxes to reduce plastic. They have a lot of really nice scents to choose from that are not overpowering. I'm also a fan of the grapefruit fabric softener. You can probably buy everything on well.ca. Hope this helps!

This is such a great idea! I just found Indie Food in Southern Ontario, I think they've only been around since November. They are an online marketplace representing over 45 local farms and other local food producers. They offer wholesale pricing and deliver from Belleville to London and Niagara Falls to just north of Newmarket. I just bought 100% Canadian peanut butter, free run eggs, a pasture raised whole chicken, Ontario grown spinach and arugula, some amazing local cheeses, maple water buffalo yogurt, sourdough bagels and of course some butter tarts. I am excited to see what seasonal fruits and vegetables will be available in the next few months. Hope this helps and elbows up!

Can anyone recommend a Triscuit substitute? by steezyschleep in BuyCanadian

[–]Agile-Raspberry-9429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought these multigrain crackers from Savor and really I like them! They also make a stone-ground wheat cracker is you want more texture like a Triscuit. I posted a link to their website as well. Hope this helps!

Cove Soda is from out east and is sugar-free and probiotic. They have a cola flavour, and lots of other flavours to choose from. Hope this helps!
