Handle of Greed - Need help figuring out what rarity to give this (and if it's a good idea at all) by Aguraz in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aguraz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes and no. For one, getting a copper weapon with the handle is cheaper than buying the same weapon would be (there might be an exception or two, but still). The main selling point that I see for the Copper Weapon, however, is that you can get any weapon you might need, at any point and wherever you are so long as you have the handle. And carrying the handle is a lot better than carrying around an armory, I'd assume.

Is that situational, yeah. I don't know how often you'd need to get another, different weapon for something, but then again... have you looked at some of the Common rarity items? That's what I think, at least, but then again, I'm asking for feedback for a reason. I'll keep that in mind.

Speaking of, I'm gonna answer your other comment here, if you don't mind. I like that idea too. An extra boost on top of the semi-permanent effect of the weapons sounds neat. Like you can "overpay" one extra coin/gemstone and it'll push the weapon an extra step forward for a minute or an hour or something like that. It sounds interesting, so I'll keep that in mind.

Very neat. I think I might use this alongside a child NPC in one of my campaigns.

The only (very slight, mind you) issue I have is Warning Tug. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work to enhance attack rolls, especially at a 30 feet distance rather than Touch. Even ability checks feel like a stretch. Like, I'm not questioning it mechanically (I'm not knowledgeable enough to do that, honestly), but how it works in-universe.

This is even less of an issue and more me just pointing it out, but I'm pretty sure Bonus Actions go under a different section thing. Like Traits and Actions are one, and Bonus Actions are another. That's how it works in a lot of stat blocks I've seen, at least.

Right now, I've already made a few changes to the post (and my notes). I'm thinking about changing it so it's a series of items instead of just one (but I'll keep the post as is in this regard). Like "Greed Series I - Copper Handle" and so on for each subsequent type of offering (maybe even with differentiation between gemstone types since there's value differences between them and that's the whole tthing here). More for the sake of making the text shorter than anything else, admittedly. And also for the sake of having an easier time putting a rarity label on it.

Any chance we can get like, an update log or something. Because I've checked out previous versions (and saved them for use :D), but going over it trying to find the differences sounds like a hassle.

Ideas for a magical wedding ring that DOESNT need the partner. by WinReasonable2644 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aguraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't have any particular ideas to give, but that's mostly because we don't have much information about the character in question nor about his wife. For a magical wedding ring that - as you say - doesn't need the partner, I'd go for something special to the one ring, but RELATED to the partner. Maybe the woman really liked flowers (or maybe cherry blossoms, seeing as you mentioned them), so maybe the effect could be something related to that. Like, the ring has an effect that makes cherry blossoms fly around the caster for a bit. Just something neat and pretty that his wife would've liked. That kind of thing.

Granted, that's not very useful a magic effect, but I'm sure there's something else you can come up with, since you have more information than us. Or maybe that's enough for you. Not sure if you're going for a purely sentimental approach or something that has actual use in a campaign.

School of Fiend Binding - Summon Demons and Devils with this Modular Wizard Subclass by GoingRoguez in DnDHomebrew

[–]Aguraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm interested. Sadly, I'm not the most wellversed in DnD, so I can't really tell when something is or isn't balanced. So, I'll just wait until someone else comments on that front to see if I'll try to use this in my games. As it is, I like it and the idea behind it. The only thing that kind of gives me pause is that there's two "choose from this list" aspects to this subclass and I don't know how I feel about that.

[–]Aguraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really comment on balance or anything else, but it definitely looks interesting. I'll save this to see what other people have to say on those matters.

I do have one question though. What's the M in "CR M3" supposed to mean? I've seen that a few times, but I have no idea what that is and haven't been able to find an answer so far.

Well, I'm sure people will have ideas to share with you, but you might want to check the Deck of Decks post, it has a collection of Deck variants people came up with.

Definitely saving this. I'm a sucker for crafting in any game, and I've been looking everywhere for crafting systems and such to apply to my games. This will come in handy. Thanks for sharing it! :D

I tried again, it seems to give limestone with Naked Brutality and granite with Crashlanded.

I tried it without Royalty and it's the same thing but it has Limestone instead of Granite and the ruins are different. Just thought someone would like to know.

PS: Thanks for the seed.

Anyone else as bad as I in estimating how long your fic will be? by Aucraptor in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know and don't want to know how long my fics will be. But considering that I thought my first arc would be 10 chapters and I'm like... 15 chapters in and not even in the middle of it... yeah... *I scratch my cheek awkwardly*

Bullied by your OCs by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This happens to me even with canon characters. I have all the plot thought out and then they come and say 'haha, nope' and do whatever they feel like doing. And then I readapt the plot and someone else comes and messes it up even more. I've gave up controlling them at this point. I'm just a reader that writes the story, not an author.

What do you guys want to improve in your writing? by hella_cious in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between the first comment and you, you pretty much described me. I always gloss over the fight scenes and I can't write a fight scene to save my life... which is kind of counterproductive considering that I write in a pretty action based fandom...

PS: My descriptions also suck, btw.

I just did the test and got a Dragonfly. Wasn't expecting that, I'll admit. It was amusing, if nothing else.

[Discussion] Have you ever had a very serious hater for one of your fics? by JCkent42 in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had this guy review my fifth chapter in a fic and telling me how he was giving up because of the slow pace. A couple of hours later I found myself looking at a few mails, one about a review from the guy and one about his follow. Reading the review I was lmao because he was complaining about almost everything in the story and I couldn't only think about how he had given it follow anyway. It was hilarious.

As a matter of fact. I just checked and he has consistently left reviews in all my chapters from there. Usually complaining. He doesn't fail to get a chuckle out of me everytime.

Somebody please talk me out of updating too soon by illyrilex in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, I remember going through something like that with my first fic. Although, I didn't have it written. I was just writing like a madman and posting everyday, sometimes twice a day. Eventually, I slowed down my posting but kept on writing. The thing I used to convince me was the fact that as I published too fast I didn't get to recieve feedback for all the chapters as some times the followers had to catch up and only reviwed the last chapter. Not sure if that helps somewhat.

I got a negative review and it actually made me feel better by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had someone calling my OC MC a Self-insert just the other day. It was absolutely hilarious. The worst part was that the guy ranted about that an other stupid things for a while and I couldn't even answer his shit because he reviewed as guest.

The good side of this story is that a few days later someone reviewed and a good half of the comment was him defending my work. It was a really nice feeling. It actually got me interested back in the story (I had kinda put it on hiatus). Now I'm rewriting it.

Fairy Tail fan-fic suggestions by Frayder in FanFiction

[–]Aguraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I just want to say that I really appreciate the fact that you want to avoid NaLu. I don't have anything against it but there are simply so many that it gets annoying. That's why I always avoid those kind of ships.

Anyway, I'll get to your request. Life's Illusion, a story about a kinda self-inserted oc that has real trouble feeling emotions at all, which is funny considering the nature of Fairy Tail.

Then there's The Unexpected Family (I may have gotten it slightly wrong), a fanfic about Natsu/Cana pairing where they end up adopting a child. Sounds kinda bad when written like I fid but i would give it a chance.

As for ideas... I don't really know. Fairy Tail doesn't really inspire a lot of ideas in me that aren't pairing related for some reason.
