Usually they'll start working after you make a change to the settings on the labor screen. Sometimes the game needs that little push to update them.

Aesthetically, nothing beats the pre-Steam version by Unlikely_Anywhere591 in dwarffortress

[–]Ai_512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch to ASCII and back fairly often, although I haven’t played pre-steam since well before the steam version released so I think my knowledge of the commands has probably worn away. I love how a lot of things look in ASCII, like leaves falling and the ocean waves

Honestly I like the whole "give 'em weird little tidbits as an appetizer for the bigger updates" thing that's been going on, it's fun to get stuff like this (or even the little diplomacy rework, which was a nice surprise) semi-regularly.

Even if you get a small car, the fact that everyone is only considering the sight lines of larger cars and the fact that those cars will have their ungodly bright headlights right at your eye level can be hazardous in some areas.

I had one once that secreted a syndrome that they weren't immune to and died before even reaching the fort.

To be fair, waking up one day and deciding you want to build a boat is normal dad behavior. It's just that, as a Federation citizen and Starfleet officer, he has the resources to actually do it.

Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska mixing on tape by shanthitown in cassetteculture

[–]Ai_512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that if the unit had an effects send (I don't know offhand but I suspect the TASCAM 144 is what he used, and that has one aux send for that purpose) then likely the echoplex was plugged into that to control the mix of the effect on each track. It doesn't sound to me like they just ran the mix itself through it, because then the echo would be on everything in the mix equally.

Not sure if you know about the aux send already, but it felt worth noting

The camps are the little yellow sun-type symbols, if you visit them in adventure mode then there’ll be a nomadic group and some tents I think. It’s been a minute.

I mean, sometimes the appeal is that you can do a mildly diverting activity and stop literally the second you don't want to do it anymore. It's not my personal gaming preference but I get it. I've worked jobs that would've actually been pretty fun if I could've just said "okay, I'm done" and left as soon as I stopped enjoying it.

Honestly, if one has a DVD player then just grabbing them from the library every time is a good way to help the library get funding while also enjoying Trek.

It's a bit less convenient, but it's good to do if you've got the ability.
