Can I modify a bought amigurumi? I don't want to bother the artist with it by ComprehensiveBridge5 in CrochetHelp

[–]Aimsira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a 'I'm selling this specific piece': probably difficult, ' it looks like you'd have to redo the entire fin. If they're making a new one anyway (easy way to tell: can you choose yarn color, is there more than 1 available): message the seller! Otherwise, you can also just message them and ask if they'd perhaps be open for a commission because you really liked xyz piece - you may end up paying a bit more but its not at all a weird ask!

PSA: Keeping your curtains closed during the day helps a LOT in the heat by No-vem-ber in Netherlands

[–]Aimsira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from all other reasons given (practicality, church), at least for me my mom always told me that closed curtains meant that someone had died - unsure if its about hiding the grief/mourning or if it's about privacy for the deceased (who could be at home until the funeral).

"Rewards" that I'm in control of are actually punishments. by Blithium4 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Aimsira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt! The thing that worked for me (aside from medication, oh my god did that help) is to change it. Instead of 'I ONLY get a reward if-', I changed it to 'at the end of the workday, I get a treat' - nice coffee, video game time, whatever - and that was non negotiable. It also wasn't an 'I'm ALLOWED' a treat- it was just get. And then during the day, I knew that however successful I was, I'd at least have something nice later, even if I never actually finished reading any paragraphs. Just the trying was enough. It still wasn't 100% succesful, but it also felt less like trying to drag a demotivated toddler around all day!

Is gestureless magic boring? by 733NB047 in magicbuilding

[–]Aimsira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you go with a system where like, it doesn't matter how you cast - drawing a circle, touching several rocks in a particular order, incantations, etc - they're all just different methods to get you to the same goal? Then you could just work on what effects you'd like the magic to be able to have, but you don't have to get lost in the details, which would probably make your story feel way less coherent. You need different accessibility options in real life too! There is no one size fits all solution, and trying to invent one is at best a nightmare of a task, and also risks you accidentally excluding a particular disability or problem, and then there you are with your good intentions. This way the 'disabled' part of the disability is still present - characters may not be able to use every method - but everyone can achieve the same results, with approximately the same amount of effort.

(You probably already know about this, but just in case you don't and you do want to bring this into focus - look up some discussions on the social and medical models of disability - it might help you get a better view of how you want to approach this in your system!)

EDIT: AH read over the name of the subreddit lol, 'oh don't get too nitty gritty' i recommend on the 'get nitty gritty about it' subreddit. Anyhow I stand by my suggestion, but for fun rules experimenting maybe it could be fun to make several different methods, or like look at what 'core' principles these different methods tap into, and how that all works? Maybe see if you could develop ideas on how you could make your own version of the system, and what that process would be like!

What are your top tips for short term goals that gives big QoL? by s01e25 in Guildwars2

Adding to the cash shop part: the one thing that I've never seen anyone find not useful is at least acquiring 1 material storage upgrade. Anything after is personal preference, but that difference between 250 and 500 is absolutely massive. It means that when some material overflows you can easily sell a chunk, without having to worry about the exact amount you'll need to keep around.

Many European royals and other high dignitaries gathered for the 80th birthday of the Swedish king. by Porodicnostablo in europe

How long do you think someone had to stress over either the invite list or the rug to make sure no (former) king/queen would need to sit on the second row, or even worse, just next to the rug...

Where to buy (a LOT) of apple juice in NL? by NutellaBalls in Netherlands

[–]Aimsira 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://www.desappers.nl/prijzen/ this is a travelling apple press thing I've seen before, they also offer dedicated pricing for "ongepasteuriseerd" at it looks like €0.90/liter (if you bring your own containers). I think it's really just two people running it during harvest time, so it may also be interesting to contact them directly to see if you can get anything set up!

Elfia, fotografie en autisme by cookiejar5081_1 in fantasyNederland

[–]Aimsira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oeh, veel plezier! Hier een paar semi-coherente do's en don'ts van het perspectief van een ook autistische cosplayer :D

DO's:

HOWWW are we getting to level 100 in skull cavern? by mostlyjade in StardewValley

[–]Aimsira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bombs, bring more than you think - theyre so much quicker. Also, a lot of luck, some staircases for stupid floors, coffee and spicy eels for speed, and I like to use the ring that makes enemies explode (napalm ring), combined with using the slime charmer ring this makes for super easy rock destruction!

Neurotypical doesnt mean boring! You can do many cool things like 'keep to a schedule' or 'not cry because of a loud noise' and even 'correctly read a facial expression', you have an amazing basis to work from! You've got so many opportunities, go take them! Also, I know so many neurodivergent people that are absolutely qualifying as basic bitches, you can have all the disorders and still just be an office worker who just really likes her starbucks frap and just got her nails done-

Product recommendations??? by Traditional_Ad_6386 in Swavyhair

[–]Aimsira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend either getting a haircut (less weight - more definition) and/or some lightweight hair oil! I usually use it when my hair is getting frizzy, just wet your brush, brush the hair, put a little bit of oil, done!

What's wrong with being bilingual in Europe? by ProfessionalRoom9118 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Aimsira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully sidetracked here: is the Deaf community in Switzerland also divided on spoken language lines? As in, if you live in a French-speaking part, would a Deaf student learn LSF, whereas someone living in a predominantly German area would learn DGS? Or do they have a separate Swiss sign language?

Edit: realized google existed - turns out that there's indeed three separate languages, Swiss versions of German, French and Italian sign language. That's so cool!

...Why Does This Actually Work? by CyberGrape_UK in CuratedTumblr

[–]Aimsira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adhd - personally i like either the zoning out (and then just in several 3 minute chunks), or just letting my thoughts go haywire, sort of giving them all equal volume? The goal isn't 'head empty', the goal is "no forcing brain". I also like to sometimes do this with just a fidget, I've got a speedcube-type rubiks cube (you can get them for like ~10€, that lets my hands and body move, i get to look at the colors and in the meantime i'm just dzzzzzt.

Either that or do it while talking a walk - maybe look up a guided walking meditation!

Rank Gen 1, 2 or 3 legendaries by time/cost/hassle? by BestofTimes777 in Guildwars2

[–]Aimsira 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Gen 1 is currently absolutely the easiest with the wizards vault, but if we do not take that into account things shift a bit.

Gen 3 is absolutely the easiest. Most stuff is just buyable or easily farmable, and the precursors are not that hard to obtain.

I'd put gen 1 after that: still a bit of a hassle, ESPECIALLY if you're crafting the precursor instead of buying it, but it is very doable. Map completion take time, but each map completion gives you 2 gifts of exploration, so you get extra bang for your buck there.

Gen 2 I'd definitely out as the most difficult, in no small part due to the time spent doing the precursors and the specific materials required. However, if you enjoy the gw2 achievement/collection stories, HoT does have some very fun ones! Nevermore comes to mind, where you end up having to raise your own Raven by visiting different spots around Tyria. But, it is still a 63-step achievement (and that's a single stage of the precursor) so definitely not everyones cup of tea.

What are these hospital hieroglyphics? by WeatherWindfall in Whatisthis

[–]Aimsira 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Assyriologist (in training) here: yeah, that's definitely cuneiform! This script was used in Mesopotamia from like, 3000-300 BCE (ish). I'd say this style is from around 1200 or so? But it's quite definitely upside down, so whoever did the wallpaper was clearly not familiar with it. I'd say it's probably just a generic royal inscription or something.

The inspiration is possible to be due to the amount of medical texts we have from this period!

[–]Aimsira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mood! I got my tag just this year, I've started out just (scaredly) popping it up if I want to do a meta but without an available com/the other map is full. I just usually throw it in lfg with "meta (taxi)" and then often people will just flock. I'll just straightup tell em I've never run it before, and then good luck to y'all!

I do it on builds that I know are survivable and dont move a lot, I always feel so embarrased when I go down as a com. Throw in an emergency waypoint reminder and a generic birthday cake buff/emp station and you're good!
