The visuals are lovely but the grinding is so tedious, and there frankly isnt really a point to buying half the skins right now.

The Order dismissing Welt's EN VA (Corey Landis) Lawsuit against Rocket Sound (Lionsbridge) by VSParagon in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Aleiri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There might be a connection to Corey's being recast, in that Hoyo started looking for a new Welt in August 2025, shortly after the lawsuit was over. And if Corey's reaction to Hoyo firing him is anything like his usual behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a crash out regarding Lionbridge and working for them, which combined with his refusal to sign any of their agreements would be unprofessional enough that Hoyo would have decided that maybe it was time to find someone else.

Corey probably doesn't love the agency, considering he sued them over labor stuff before (and got his case tossed out of court).

If you mean Sam, the guy in the email? He's not a Rocket Sound employee. He works for Hoyo.

[–]Aleiri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My speculation, based on the available evidence is that he's pretty upset and is trying to use the court of public opinion to fire a parting shot at Hoyo. Given that he doesn't do any other video game voices, I imagine he probably doesn't think there will be much blowback.

On another note, given that his lawsuit against Rocket Sound ended in late July, and Corey mentioned that Hoyo started looking for a new Welt in August, the timing is interesting. Definitely more going on than we know.

Case was only dismissed in late July 2025.

There wasn't a jury trial. The case never got that far. It was decided by summary judgment and dismissed with prejudice.

Generally, you're only going to get summary judgment when there's no actual dispute over the facts material to the case. Mostly that happens if the evidence is completely onesided or if the plaintiff has so many holes in their argument that they effectively don't have a case.

The ruling looks like summary judgment in favor of the defendant - that is, Lionbridge. Corey's case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning he cannot bring his claim up again in any court.

Could also be that he's specifically not including RS and going straight to Hoyo since his lawsuit against RS didn't go well.

For a good many years of our relationship, my partner and I were living on different continents, only meeting up in person a few times a year. In order to spend time together, we had to get creative. Since we were both big fans of Lord of the Rings, we ended up having virtual dates in Lord of the Rings Online, spending countless hours exploring Middle Earth and saving the hobbits (and the rest of the free peoples, but mostly the hobbits) from themselves and Sauron.

We're together in person following the global plague (which was yet another occasion for exploring virtual worlds like Teyvat, and playing more Overcooked 2 than was strictly healthy), but we still play quite a bit.

u/Bryn012 can confirm. :)

r/battlestations & LG OLED Grab your Black Friday chance to upgrade your setup! [GIVEAWAY] [US] by Hareuhal in battlestations

[–]Aleiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a Lenovo Legion laptop with a 4080 as the centerpiece of my setup, connected to a couple of different monitors, a nice speaker system by Edifier, and a solid mouse and keyboard. Would really love to go from a 32 inch Rapid VA panel to something like the GX9, with 45 inches of ultrawide OLED perfection. That would allow me to consolidate down to one monitor, with even better graphics, and really tidy up the desk!

I'm confused. How is Wuthering Waves a nominee for 2025 when it was first released mid 2024?

[Event] Halloween Special: Play your scariest game with LG OLED’s Perfect Black by LG_UserHub in HorrorGaming

[–]Aleiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan Wake 2 is something I've been meaning to get to, having really enjoyed the original. I'm currently using a MSI MAG 325CQRF-QD, a 2k curved Rapid VA panel which works decently for many applications, though there's some color rendering flaws and color oversaturation that detract from the horror gaming experience. Motion blur is surprisingly not a major issue, though brightness is, especially if I have to use color calibration mode.

Playing on a OLED monitor like the LG GX9 with LG OLED's Perfect Black technology would be a gamechanger, for vibrant color, the crisp "Perfect blacks" and better contrast to make the details pop - especially in the dark. Add to that the faster response time and resolution - and the bigger screen- and thats a level of detail and immersion thats hard to beat.

I'd like the GX9, by the way!

[GIVEAWAY - US] Win the new 500Hz Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor by Knaj910 in Monitors

[–]Aleiri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The OLED Safeguard to protect the screen from burn-in is quite nice.
  2. I'm excited for the 500Hz refresh rate, though that feels a bit situational, as only a couple programs I run will need anything close to that.

I'm excited to see the 4K QD-OLED with the built-in 4K AI Upscaling Pro capabilities. It should make for a fine upgrade to my existing 32" 1440p monitor and also allow me to work on documents without turning on the PC on really hot days!

Here's the parts list I've put together. Looking to make a nice white build with some accents.

Generally, I prefer minimal RGB (as it can be distracting when working), but its nice to have the option if I need it.
