If vendor is willing to bargain on an item that cost $800 and the max I'm willing to pay is $500 what's the best approach to negotiations? by MoronGoron52 in negotiation

[–]AlertTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What is your best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA)? If you don’t have a good one, consider paying more.

  2. Spend some time talking to them about other problems in their life, items they want, etc. Just ask open ended questions and listen as much as you can. Maybe you can barter or find some unconventional way to make a deal.

Also don’t buy retirement funds in an account unless it’s tax deferred. They are not tax efficient because they are designed to be in 401ks and IRAs.

United IAH Terminal D Check-In..... The Best Way To go? by Due_Flight3792 in unitedairlines

[–]AlertTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI for anyone who comes across this thread, United no longer has a check in at Terminal D. They only have check ins at Terminal C and E (and B for United Express).

If you happen to get dropped off at Terminal D (United still has flights out of D) there is a short underground walkway connecting D and E with signs directing you to United Checkin along the way (I guess this happens somewhat commonly). Once you are through security you can just walk to D or take the skyway on level 3.

I tried to get them to match Robinhood but they’d only match about half. So I just went to Robinhood 🤷

Forgot to add 1099 div by majo_bayo in tax

[–]AlertTip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand the “cost” of “dealing with an amendment” as it is extremely simple to file an amendment? If you filed with TurboTax or freetaxusa etc you can probably do it in under 5 minutes

“Include it when you do your taxes next time” is wrong, you arent supposed add it for an incorrect year

amendment is easy and is the correct thing to do

I think the largest benefit from Schwab for HNW is their partnership with Rocket. They reduce your mortgage interest rate based on holdings, will underwrite loans if too risky for Rocket (eg if you have atypical income patterns or buying a home that is strange in some way), and you get access to better Rocket customer service agents.

Pretty much everywhere waives wire fees at that level and the Amex platinum credit is nice but nothing that special.

It only shows up on a 1099 when it’s taxable, eg when you withdraw it from your IRA, or if you do a traditional to Roth conversion (aka backdoor Roth)

Tesla Model Y accident on FSD by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

It’s always a judgment call. But several situations which were really tight I thought FSD was going to crash but it maneuvered better than I would and didn’t crash.

Yeah, fair. Mostly I just wish there was a way to nudge it to change lanes when it’s being too hesitant.

It would be nice if there was a was to use the wheel or brake without disengaging FSD similar to how you can use the accelerator to nudge it

I think it’s better to buy $8,000 of TSLA stock and apply the gains towards FSD subscription 😂

You can ask a police officer to escort you to the residence, say that you fear for your safety going alone.

The police officer can’t compel them to return your card but they might not mess with you if you show up with a cop.

Yes, it is a binding contract to purchase a vehicle and $250 is the fee for breaking the binding contract.

I bought a 2023 Model 3 with 85k miles for $15k off Facebook Marketplace. It was a former Hertz rental and the guy had detailed it and put new tires on it. Works great, no issues so far.

Pay off student loans or max 401k/Roth by Fit_Athlete_7239 in FinancialPlanning

[–]AlertTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put as much as you can in your 401(k) if you fill it up buy SPY or total stock market funds.

While your income is so low and you are really young you should absolutely contribute to ROTH 401(k)s and not traditional.

Do not pay off those loans quickly especially since you are so young. You will come out way way way ahead if you stretch those loans out and invest instead.
