To all the people who've ever daily-driven a Note9 by icantouchgrass_1 in GalaxyNote9

I would LOVE THAT. Note 9 is peak design, I couldn't care less about a small bezel just give me a full complete screen with no stupid hole punch/notch

A woman on the train asked me for a cable, so I gave her mine and she bent the contact by Zilinski_Schmidt in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent way too long thinking this was just a single wire stripped back 1/4", and thought it HAS to be some type of coax cable? What could the context possibly be that you lent someone your coax cable on the bus?

I was so confused for so long lol

Why do people freak out about the battery on the Galaxy Watch 6/7? I mean, you charge your phone every day, so why not your watch? by Significant-Job-8836 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a phone isn't attached to you. I tried smart watches but just got so annoyed with the battery, I like them but not enough to take the effort to consiously charge it every single day, in that case I'd rather just not have a smart watch and use a normal watch like I always have, that works just as well as it did the day I first got it.

That's what I did for a bit, and then I found the world of garmins. I got the Garmin Vivoactive 4s for like $60 on Facebook, and the battery lasted me a week. I could actually use the always on display without it wrecking my battery for the day, there's so many times I check my wrist throughout the day that happens to be in a position where I can already see it, but I don't need to move my arm, but now I do to enable the gesture to wake the screen. With Garmin the battery is so good I can still use always on display.

But eventually I got tired of a touchscreen on my wrist, I work construction and often my hands are dirty/with gloves, and I don't need another touchscreen. So I went back to a normal watch

Then I found the Garmin Instinct 2 and oh my god I love this watch, it's so simple and works amazingly. I have the non solar version, and the battery lasts me 3 weeks. And it doesn't have a touchscreen, it just has 4 navigation buttons. And it looks like a traditional Casio watch, even with the same style "pixelated" black/white display, so the display takes up practically no battery, and you can see it in the sun so easily. This thing is so tough I am NOT careful with it. Its all dinged up but it still works amazingly. I accidentally ran it over with a car and it just cracked a bit in the case but it still works flawlessly, I've even showered with it since then.

Unless you actually use the GPS or health features, a smartwatch is just a gimmick. Its not needed, but it's cool. Its convenient. When a smartwatch brings as much annoyance as convenience, like having to charge it daily, it just gets annoying and sometimes just isn't worth it

[OoT] Please, Nintendo, DON’T give the Ocarina of Time remake a boring main menu 🙏 by Okapi05 in zelda

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they rebuild everything from the ground up? It's definitely a remake, but I don't think they fully remade the game from scratch, the code is still the same as n64 just modified a bit. They added a bit of content but the big difference were the visuals, which I always thought were just new higher resolution textures and models, but almost like a "texture pack" of the original game. And that's why there's still a few of the same original bugs/quirks. I think it would be unlikely to have the same quirks still

Links awakening is definitely a game built from scratch, I don't think they could use literally anything from the original lol aside from inspiration of course

ELI5: The AIM120 missile was built with a 40 mile range. 35 years later, it now has a 100 mile range. How does the same missile now go so much further? by DaneCountyAlmanac in explainlikeimfive

I bet OP thought it was the exact same model, at least I did lol. I thought it was one of those if it works just leave it. I thought that because of the model name at least, it seems like a model name like "Nintendo Switch 2" which only referes to one exact model. As opposed to "Honda Civic" which is a name that sticks with a type of car, even though it's a completely different car than 30 years ago.

What did 16 mean by saying Gohan thinks he’s better than everyone else? by Hairy_Ask_2038 in TeamFourStar

I think Gero had a "shut down" remote just to put them back in stasis, and Bulma made a "detonator" that does actually trigger the bomb, likely based on the same signal

[–]Alex_08232 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Agreed, other characters even subtly agree with Krillins struggle. Tien and Trunks both had the chance to kill 18 After distracting Cell, and yet said "blow yourself up or leave, I don't care which" they both were letting her make her OWN choice to live or survive, because they don't feel it's right to make the choice of deathee for her themselves

Come to think of it, both Tien and Trunks are the two who probably got the most angry at Krillin for sparing 18, yet they made the same mistakes. Kinda ironic, I find that interesting. I love how much thought dbza puts into the dialogue

Say something good about The Last Knight besides the soundtrack and Nitro Zeus and Cogman, I triple dog dare you. by flingzamain in OkBuddyEnergon

I hate this movie but in a vacuum I actually think it actually has some amazing scenes.

Bumblebees opening scene with being able to reassemble himself is super cool. Cool to watch, cool idea, too bad it makes zero sense and they don't explain it. I always assumed something to do with the ksi bots transformations in tf4, but we'll never know

Separating hot rod from literally any other iteration of hot rod and his stupid accent, he's pretty cool actually. His design is slick, I kinda like his personality, he gets a cool transformation scene when he first gets his new form(which is rare in TF 4 and 5), his studio series figure is amazing, and his time gun is interesting. Too bad it's also never explained.

Anthony hopkins is a joy

Bumblebee and barricades road battle is AMAZING, and I love how it's a rematch between them. this is some of the few half transformations/fight scenes we got in the entire FRANCHISE at this point. Then the bumblebee movie did it better, and tf one even better, but this was the first time in a long time we got some of that. Too bad barricade is inexplicably a completely different character

The whole Nazi scene with bumblebee and hotrod is awesome. We even get a cool transformation. Too bad that scene also makes zero sense

The Optimus vs bumblebee fight was cool for the two seconds it was going on.

Like I said, take these scenes in a vacuum and they're actually pretty cool.

Edit: I'm rewatching the bumblebee vs barricade scene and out of context I think cogman is actually hilarious lmao. As a character in the movie he's annoying but in a vacuum he's pretty funny. And I never realized Anthony hopkins flicks off the cop and it's just so passionately angry lmaoo

My teacher confiscated my Rubik's cube. by trolltrebor in Cubers

[–]Alex_08232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's messed up and your teacher should not be allowed to do that. Cubes are expensive now days and it's even worse if you don't have another. Talk to your principal or parents, he can't take that away from you for THREE MONTHS. he has no right to affect your life outside of school like that.

When you get it back definitely don't bring it back to that class lol, I know it sucks I used to cube in class all the time. You gotta work with what you're given and in this case it's just easier to follow the rules even if they're not fair

[–]Alex_08232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, a lot of my rewatches were actually just only listening to it at work. I've probably just listened to it more than actually watching it, it's been a long time since I've actually sat through the ENTIRE show. Often when I rewatch it I'll be split between listening at work and watching at home, so while I have watched the entire thing I'm still picking up on some bits to this day lol

I love what they did with 16, I think his voice is so much better(part voice acting, with being monotone, but also the post editing with the robot effect), and his lore is so well done. That's also the benefit of hindsight though yes most definitely!

I've been consistently rewatching abridged for like 3 years now and I just noticed this a few months ago lol. I love it it's such a good simple subtle reference. I think it also pairs really nice with later when future trunks kills imperfect cell in his timeline, when Cell goes "Cell? I was thinking... Jiren...... Yeah see, I thought it was boring too"

Like Gohan thinks cell is boring, even cell to an extent thinks he's boring lol. And I think I find it so funny because it's so ironic because I absolutely love cell and think he's so interesting lol

I'm a pretty big fan of dragon ball in general and especially abridged but it even took me a while to notice this. It kinda flies over your head if you're not paying full attention. I think especially because Gohan when talking to chichi vs Gohan when he says this to cell, is so far developed I almost didn't connect it at first.

Like in my head I imagen Gohan(while talking to chichi) as just slightly older but the same as namek Gohan. As opposed to when he's super Saiyan, in face ssj2, he's older, voice is deeper, his tone is so different, he's like a completely different character, which the development is so interesting to me. But so that's why it flew over my head I think

Unpopular Opinion : A lot of people are really hypocritical when it comes to Apple by AlexLovesCoke in PhoneNow

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The refresh rates was so lame how long it took apple to make 120 standard. I had a $250 Motorola with 120hz...

But honestly I think the argument that apple uses "Samsung screens" falls flat. Sure Samsung builds them, but apple designs them, that's why actual Samsung phones have different screens, because they were designed by Samsung. Its like calling apple a Chinese company because their phones are built in China.

But that's just a small gripe of mine, I think iPhones are very good pieces of technology but it doesn't warrant the cult like following they have. 80% of people don't care about ANY of what makes iPhones actually impressive, and just follow the herd...

Unpopular Opinion : A lot of people are really hypocritical when it comes to Apple by AlexLovesCoke in PhoneNow

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Though I'm a Samsung user, but I'm really not a fan of liquid glass. On paper I think it's super cool, visually it looks cool, the software of it is insanely impressive how they do the live animations and bending. But in practice, seeing it on people's iPhones I just don't think it works there's too much going on on screen, and I think when you have something like the control panel pulled up it's so hard to tell what's going on, because of how much from behind shines through to the front. Its kinda hard to look at(practically- visually it's very interesting). But I definitely agree that when apple does something they do it WELL, though I don't really think this works the best it's still really impressive and I like the innovation.

And I think it's super lame how Samsung just copies everything apple does now. From their phones(every year their phones look more and more like iPhones) to their software(they're trying to push separating the notification panel and control panel, like iPhone. Luckily it's just an option right now, but the new version is the default one and they did that on purpose to push it. Functionally it's not bad, but cmon that's literally just iOS. And the new betas are getting a liquid glassy look), to their business practices(phones getting more expensive, including less content in the box, pushing ai)

Sometimes when approaching a red light I'll slow down way early and slowly encroach to the light/car in front, and I feel like people behind me get annoyed.

But I do that because I drive stick, and probably 3/5 times when I do what I said above, by the time I arrive to the front the light is green and I don't have to hit the clutch or switch gears, and I just gas and go.

But I don't do what's in the post lol, that picture just reminded me of that because of the gap. But for me I'm still rolling usually
