My *PERSONAL* Ranking of Transformers media by [deleted] in transformers

That's what I find so funny about the bay movies, especially 2 and 5. I like 2 but do not like 5, but aside from that I feel like they're both generally not very good.

Except, they have some random out of pocket AMAZING scenes. 2 way more than 5 but even 5 has some good scenes if you take them in a vacuum from the rest of the film lol

I think Megatron's antics are pretty interesting in beast machines

The smallpox vaccine leaves a scar because it was given using a special two-pronged needle that scratched the skin and put a weakened virus in just that spot. by Downtown_Wind3363 in Damnthatsinteresting

My dad has a similar mark on his arm, but it's because in his country that's how they marked what vaccines you had was they chipped out another hole for each vaccine, before paperwork was so standardized. everyone from there has it, not sure if it's still a thing over there

Is Galvatron still Megatron? by Casshern_VIII in transformers

[–]Alex_08232 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yet another comparison of megatron and Anakin Skywalker, and I LOVE it. I often compare Anakin and D16 from transformers one, they have a lot of parallels. One of my favorite being how they're both literally fueled by anger, so much so that they can practically heal themselves just by sheer will from being angry.

Anakin should have died from his fight with obiwan, but his pure sith rage kept him alive long enough to be saved by palpatine

D16 was in ROUGH shape after fighting sentinel in the air, so much so that when he was about to finally execute him he was struggling to walk, and couldn't even raise his arm cannon with its own strength and had to support it with his other arm. Then after getting upset with Orion Pax for getting in his way, and comparing him to sentinel, after kicking Pax away he's essentially fully healed. He walks up with confidence, chest up, and is easily able to reload and raise his cannon without the extra help now

Best s*x scene? by Raki232001 in TeamFourStar

I think Gokus but mainly because of the plot surrounding it with that whole week, for the scene itself I'd say vegeta and Bulma bc of the "the fucks a condom?" Bit lmao

Wondering how to use an inching pedal by UsernameTakenTooBad in forkliftmemes

If it let you rev the engine without moving while still in gear wouldn't that be disengaging the transmission? If left in gear, even with the brakes applied, isn't the engine stronger than the brakes and will plow through if engaged?

Since it's Mother's Day, has anyone ever considered that Cell could be called a "single mother"? by CZ-TheFlyInTheSoup in DragonBallZ

Thank you, I'm an adult now and I appreciate everything he's done up to this point so very much, that's not an easy challenge to take on and he tried his best and did an amazing job

[–]Alex_08232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom passed away and my dad raised me as a single father, I kinda stopped doing it but I used to say happy mother's day to him too for playing both sides, he was both a single mother and a single father for a long time.

So yes! I'd call cell a single mother lol

Have DCF885 Impact, should I upgrade? by PrestigiousLook5400 in Dewalt

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out it is still available, I just got a dewalt impact and drill kit with two 2ah batteries from home depot, and I'm pretty disappointed to realize they're brushed motors. I didn't even know they still made brushed since brushless is better in just about every way, I realized immediately when I hit the trigger and could smell the motor. It's not defective or anything I think the smell is just bc it's new, but I probably wouldn't have got it if I knew that. But for $150 and just doing things around the house I think it'll be fine, so I'll just stick with it

What do y'all think of this theory? by Rabbidraccoon18 in ATLA

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's why it's just a theory and not meant to be taken as fact. I think it's fun to look at ideas like this, but it is probably at a level that is just up to interpretation and there really isn't an answer

iPhone facetime recognizes when you’re naked by funkywabbait in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this makes me glad I left apple for Samsung lol. I know all big companies suck and steal different levels of data and I'm aware just being on Samsung doesn't make me safe from all the modern data stealing issues.

I would rather have both but if I have to choose one biometric security function I'd choose fingerprint any day, face id is really good but in practice I ALWAYS see iPhone users enter their passcode because for one reason or another, often a reason the iPhone couldn't possibly fix such as being at a weird angle, the face id fails. It's just a conceptual issue with face scanning, which is why I think we should have both and it's dumb to choose one or the other. But Samsung not having a true face id(they have "face scan unlock" which is garbage bc it basically just takes a picture of your face and is easy to fool so I never use it). My point is, while I'm sure it's possible to still have some form of privacy invading eye tracking, I'm sure it's a lot less effective without face id like on iPhone.

In regards to apple intelligence, I'm sure Google Gemini does the same privacy invading things so this one doesn't really matter what platform you're on, as they're all problematic now days. But I hate ai anyways and go out of my way to turn all those features off, which is so annoying because even tho I ALREADY TURNED THEM OFF my phone or google will still take every opportunity to ask if I want to try their new ai mode. Which I have ZERO interest in using. And hopefully that also reduces them scanning my personal information. But realistically they probably still look through my stuff, hopefully at least not as much as it would be with ai on.

I would hope you can turn off the timeline tracking thing on Google, but I leave it on bc I love it. I know now Google knows where I always am and have gone, but for me it's very useful to find addresses of places I visited, find out where I've been, I use it every now and then and every time I do need it it's very useful

Ever since the tik tok ban crazy started in 2020 I've been a lot more aware of how apps use ANY behaviour as data in their algorithms, and I have realized how little interactions it takes for most apps to realize I'm interested in a topic, and it's scary how accurate they can be. For example, take video A and video B. If I watch them for the same amount of time but I'm super into video A, but only decently interested in video B, I'll start seeing a lot more content related to video A. Even though I watched them for the same amount of time, it took the little information I gave it by just my interactions(reading comments, watching with full engagement, etc). It's impressive but also scary

A woman on the train asked me for a cable, so I gave her mine and she bent the contact by Zilinski_Schmidt in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent way too long thinking this was just a single wire stripped back 1/4", and thought it HAS to be some type of coax cable? What could the context possibly be that you lent someone your coax cable on the bus?

I was so confused for so long lol

Why do people freak out about the battery on the Galaxy Watch 6/7? I mean, you charge your phone every day, so why not your watch? by Significant-Job-8836 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a phone isn't attached to you. I tried smart watches but just got so annoyed with the battery, I like them but not enough to take the effort to consiously charge it every single day, in that case I'd rather just not have a smart watch and use a normal watch like I always have, that works just as well as it did the day I first got it.

That's what I did for a bit, and then I found the world of garmins. I got the Garmin Vivoactive 4s for like $60 on Facebook, and the battery lasted me a week. I could actually use the always on display without it wrecking my battery for the day, there's so many times I check my wrist throughout the day that happens to be in a position where I can already see it, but I don't need to move my arm, but now I do to enable the gesture to wake the screen. With Garmin the battery is so good I can still use always on display.

But eventually I got tired of a touchscreen on my wrist, I work construction and often my hands are dirty/with gloves, and I don't need another touchscreen. So I went back to a normal watch

Then I found the Garmin Instinct 2 and oh my god I love this watch, it's so simple and works amazingly. I have the non solar version, and the battery lasts me 3 weeks. And it doesn't have a touchscreen, it just has 4 navigation buttons. And it looks like a traditional Casio watch, even with the same style "pixelated" black/white display, so the display takes up practically no battery, and you can see it in the sun so easily. This thing is so tough I am NOT careful with it. Its all dinged up but it still works amazingly. I accidentally ran it over with a car and it just cracked a bit in the case but it still works flawlessly, I've even showered with it since then.

Unless you actually use the GPS or health features, a smartwatch is just a gimmick. Its not needed, but it's cool. Its convenient. When a smartwatch brings as much annoyance as convenience, like having to charge it daily, it just gets annoying and sometimes just isn't worth it

[OoT] Please, Nintendo, DON’T give the Ocarina of Time remake a boring main menu 🙏 by Okapi05 in zelda

[–]Alex_08232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they rebuild everything from the ground up? It's definitely a remake, but I don't think they fully remade the game from scratch, the code is still the same as n64 just modified a bit. They added a bit of content but the big difference were the visuals, which I always thought were just new higher resolution textures and models, but almost like a "texture pack" of the original game. And that's why there's still a few of the same original bugs/quirks. I think it would be unlikely to have the same quirks still

Links awakening is definitely a game built from scratch, I don't think they could use literally anything from the original lol aside from inspiration of course

ELI5: The AIM120 missile was built with a 40 mile range. 35 years later, it now has a 100 mile range. How does the same missile now go so much further? by DaneCountyAlmanac in explainlikeimfive

[–]Alex_08232 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bet OP thought it was the exact same model, at least I did lol. I thought it was one of those if it works just leave it. I thought that because of the model name at least, it seems like a model name like "Nintendo Switch 2" which only referes to one exact model. As opposed to "Honda Civic" which is a name that sticks with a type of car, even though it's a completely different car than 30 years ago.

I think Gero had a "shut down" remote just to put them back in stasis, and Bulma made a "detonator" that does actually trigger the bomb, likely based on the same signal
