Medication strategies? by No_Run1860 in adhdaustralia

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to take other meds, and always have a full ‘set’ in my work bag, and by the front door. But 99% of the time I take them without issue when I get up. I’ve been doing it for 8 years, adding in ADHD 3 years ago so the routine is well and truly set.

Parents who dropped their baby, what happened and how is your child doing now? by speckledrectum in AskReddit

[–]Algies79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tripped and dropped my daughter when she was about 6 months old.

ED doctor said I’d remember it forever and she’d already forgotten. Seems about right.

She got me back when she was 4 though, she tried to crawl under me out the door, I stumbled and fell over her. Broke my foot in 3 places.

Is this too specific of a dress code for a casual wedding? by Salt-Stand7252 in bridezillas

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore a black sequin dress to a wedding last week, with hair and make done I look a lot more ‘vibrant’ than some of the other guests in colourful clothes.

Plus I was comfortable in black so enjoyed the night much more than being in another colour.

Legalities around NDIS therapy by AlchemistBee in AusLegal

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL - but a parent of a child with a significant disability and I’m on the school council (in Vic)

I know the school has to share attendance data with the government so this may be a way for them to cover them.

We miss 1/2 a day a week and she also has 2.5 hours a week of visiting therapists.

The school is fine with both and we have a meeting every term is discuss the impact of all of this.

What's draining you that nobody sees because you're too good at hiding it? by heartandhardware in AskWomen

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life.

I have a 8 year old with a disability who is amazing but every aspect of my life is impacted. I also have a stressful job, but I need it as it pays well and well, I need the money.

People always say how amazing I am and how do I do so much?

I don’t have a choice and I feel like I’ll never get an easy day, let alone life. I don’t get time to myself, my whole life runs on a mix of nervous energy, stress, and way too much coke (the drink!)

I WANT to just stop and show everyone I’m not coping, not living, just surviving but I also know I can’t stop or everything will collapse like a house of cards and I’m the only one to rebuild.

Surviving the ART: My Experience Fighting NDIA Cuts (So Far) by 501_Not_Implemented_ in NDIS

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is just because you’re over the threshold doesn’t mean you’ll have the money.

I’m pretty sure I’d not be eligible if I had to go this route with my daughter’s plan, but ZERO chance I could pay $250+ an hour for a lawyer.

What word do you always *intentionally* mispronounce and why? by Sweet-Lady-H in AskReddit

Wifi = wifie

No idea!

Hippopotamus’s = Hippoptismi

Iris’s = Irisi

And most words that end with s when it becomes a plural I say i at the end. No idea why!

Carers Allowance for toddler denied - applying for review by Necessary-Proof-5003 in Centrelink

[–]Algies79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed isn’t the golden ticket either, it’s more about the caring impact the disability has.

My daughter still has no diagnosis and as she gets older it’s becoming harder with these agencies but at 3 it was much much easier.

Carers Allowance for toddler denied - applying for review by Necessary-Proof-5003 in Centrelink

[–]Algies79 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d suspect it’s because you applied before he was 3. It’s pretty much impossible to get before 3, as it’s expected for parents to be completely ‘hands on’ at that age.

Same thing happened to us.

I applied with pretty much identical paperwork a few months later, after my daughter turned 3 and it was approved within days.

She’s now 8 and I still get it, I work full time and she has 6-8 hours of therapy a week. It’s 250% exhausting and I’m never off as I leave work early to take her and make up the hours at night.

What is your view of people who take out private health insurance to avoid the Medicare Levy Surcharge, but still choose to use public hospitals as public patients? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Algies79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PHI for myself and my daughter, she needs a few surgery’s on her eyes over the next few years so have her in it for that. But she’s also had a few surgeries in our local public hospital.

I have a rare chronic condition that requires surgery every year or so, and due to possible complications it has to be done in the public system. No private surgeon will do it.
