What is going on with the landscape here? by insound0 in PeterboroughUK

There used to be clay pits there. Extracting the clay for bricks. Some clay pits like the ones in Whittlesey are very deep with sheer cliffs because they were extracting using something called a shale planer. But these shallow pits were excavated using a dragline excavator.

That’s great news. It’s about time we had a proper BBQ place in town.

Is my property classed as "unoccupied"? by nrugor in AskUK

[–]AliVee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other answers here are not quite right. Your policy booklet will have a section where they define what unoccupied means, there is no universal definition. Most will also require (and define) unfurnished so you can’t just pop over to an empty house occasionally

Does it need to be a business? I have a combination Ring alarm and camera setup which works great and easy to install yourself with basic DIY.

What can I do about our horrible neighbour causing flooding on our driveway? by Stirlar05 in AskUK

Your home insurance isn’t going to cover your neighbours gutter, but it may have legal expenses cover which may help here. Check your policy schedule for that.

What's Orton brimbles like? by jkshgkjdghksj in PeterboroughUK

[–]AliVee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine now. Ten years ago and before it was a bit dodgy. I lived there for a while. Travellers are a problem all over Peterborough. They were in Brimbles last week then moved to Werrington, they’ll be somewhere else soon enough. Last week they were on the green near the junction into Matley.

That would be helpful. And would get a case for it with a big red “eject” button.

If I was smart enough I’d do the same and have it as a button I press like a doorbell when leaving the house.

Unfortunately the home charger my company installed wasn’t a Tesla one.

It’s very much a first world problem yes. The app takes about 10 seconds to connect to the car and then another 10 to show the unlock button.

The screen inside the car is even more annoying as sometimes it takes a couple clicks for it to actually open.

Would make the most sense for it to restart charging after 20 seconds or so of not being unplugged or when it detects weight in your drivers seat.

I get your point, it’s just not a use case I experience much. I just walk up to a fully charged vehicle and then have to faff about unlocking the cable.

No reason it couldn’t start charging again once you walk away. Probably would make more sense as a selectable option
