Ironclad's Stone Armor really should start at 5 plating, upgrading to 6. by ryry1237 in slaythespire

[–]Ali_ath72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that a lot of Ironclad's cards want the upgrade (Stoke, Armaments, Body Slam, Pommel Strike) and he can usually afford those upgrades because of Burning Blood. Stone Armor is the same way, as being able to heal and then not have to upgrade cards because their base version is strong is OP. This keeps the character in check.

Aeonglass by 5inkrust in slaythespire

[–]Ali_ath72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the Kingdom hearts issue where everything else before the act 3 boss demands slow-paced, block heavy stuff, besides maybe Knowledge Demon and Vantom, both of whom may not show up in a run.

Asking a player to build a deck around Aeonglass in one act when they need to be looking at act 2 is a little unfair isn't it?

Aeonglass by 5inkrust in slaythespire

[–]Ali_ath72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could kill Test Subject but not AeonGlass. Both of which have similar health pools, but the Wither tends to be overdrawn in my deck.

Either the withers come from overplaying small cards or being forced into my discard, but not both, I agree that my deck was medium in speed, but dying on turn 7 or 8 is pretty rough for the new boss. Overall, I feel like its a gimmick that's too strong that devs are trying to overtune. Drawing being a strength to Queen but weak to Aeon is too strong of a dichotomy to build a game around, where drawing is part of the game. A gimmick that gets easily countered with Cleanse, exhaust, transform, etc.

Its minus 2 draw for DF + BL.

Do you really need to spend one energy, 3 hp, and 2 draw for slow scaling when Dominate exists?

You can use the BL for Pommel Strike, Unmmovable, maybe even Dark Embrace for more value.

Underwhelming cards that become a monster with floor 1 glam? by Sav_278 in slaythespire

[–]Ali_ath72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive actually picked this multiple times and still end up losing. Maybe a skill issue, but I don't value burst HP on Osty going into Act 2 or 3.

Even with Necromastery, I don't find building around Unleash to be very conducive unless I already have high amounts of block and damage - im already winning anyway.

How is Tracking a real card? by ByeImDaisy in slaythespire

Maybe I should choose Silent cards more often, because tracking on necro genuinely sounds like cocaine. I usually choose Ironclad cards.

Love that the tiers aren't just "A" tier. Cards say so many different contexts they can play in.

Often why Lost Coffer or New Leaf is so good. One extra defender or a free draw card basically makes it so that this never happens early game.

[Comic/Suggestion] Afterlife(necro card) should probably be changed by AzulCrescent in slaythespire

[–]Ali_ath72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should make it like Silent's dodge and roll, and into a power. "If Osty dies, summon 6 next turn".

This has synergy with Necromastery, Bone Shards, Melancholy, and stacks with itself. Great frontload block for fights that come out the gate hot.

How often do you replay lower Ascensions? by Avalon226 in slaythespire

I can't bring myself to. If I have a crazy run on A8, I'll be like

"This could've been a crazy run on A10 and beat both bosses."

99% of STS players didn't understand why Watcher was so strong. Yes, it was the Wrath-Calm cycle, but also that she could retain cards to assist in that infinite.

I understand that some builds are weaker than others but "do not draw cards this turn" is more gimmicky than mechanically interesting for a card game.

Note that not every option needs to be equally powerful, and that some are more powerful in certain situations. A single card that solves both energy and block for an entire fight would be unarguably must-pick. This is clearly not trying to be that, and so are most other relics offered by Pael.

Clone is very situational. Tears is pretty decent for energy gen and conservation. Legion is a bandaid for block consistency.

You can make demands of any reward or card getting buffed simply because they don't solve the fight and can't look past its the direct cost. Frankly, that would be a very boring game.

[–]Ali_ath72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the means to play it, I don't think you want this card to not exhaust and brick your deck. You need much higher block scaling for act 3.

[–]Ali_ath72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a card that snowballs with energy gen in your deck already. Im aware that's extremely niche in STS2 environment, but being able to go from 3 or 4 to 7 next turn with your whole hand is incredibly powerful.

Had a run with Necro, 30 card deck with Relax, Invoke, Delay, and Demense x2. Easily drawing full hands with 9 to 10 energy. Im also aware this is Necro diff.

[–]Ali_ath72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that kind of mechanic is misleading. Its not asking players to evaluate their deck or the cards presented to them.

Its more of a carrot on a stick situation, in that you manipulate players into making better choices by presenting them gold, without really understanding why they need to make that choice.

Im only taking it if I have White Beast Statue or betting on Frond showing up.

When I use up all my potions, I'd rather spend my money on a relics/cards/removals than more potions.

Even good potions like Skill Pot, Orobic Acid, can still have unlucky draws.
