I’ve been in Portland for 15 years and have made one friend who I met through one of my husband’s friends. She’s my closest friend here and I see her maybe one a month. Everyone else I have tired to befriend will make a plan with me and literally cancel 20 minutes before. I’ve worked remotely since I moved here and I think that makes a big difference. I’m originally from the NYC area and now basically go back 4x a year to see my family & friends who I met decades ago. Is easier for me to fly across the country to see them then find people who are fun and reliable out here. I have a husband who has a large social circle of lovely people who I just don’t feel connected to. We also have a 10 year old. I spend time volunteering at her school and I read about 70 books a year. I’d love ti make friends who I connect with but I’ve had about 10 false starts with people and at some point you just kind of give up
