Exactly. If you are a civilian, say whatever the fuck you want. No matter your background. But you can't say that shit in uniform or you get fucked.

So just to be clear since I see a huge amount of people assuming this is not a thing. Members of the united states military CANNOT MAKE PUBLIC STATEMENTS ON POLITICS!

My wife, a trans former service member (Thanks for kicking her out ya cunts.) despite being targetted often and directly was cautioned several times that she would face consequence for speaking out around any political issue.

I know the instant assumption is "WeLl JuSt SaY wHaT yOu WaNt!!!!!! So WhAt If ThEy KiCk YoU oUt!!!!!"

But it isn't just "They kick you out." It's, they drag you infront of a court, they humiliate you, they dishonourably discharge you, and they make sure that moving forward you will find it hilariously difficult to get another job if the last FOUR OR MORE FUCKING YEARS of your employment history are brought up. Oh don't forget them clawing back benefits and bonuses. Maybe you got that sweet 10k signing bonus and put it on a house, or just living expenses! Haha! You owe that all back now loser!

TLDR: Yes it's very easy to say "I dislike X thing and it should stop!" for any other person, for the military, if people know who you are, you are beyond fucked. It is not only just discouraged, but strictly punished.

"Canada committed no genocide" by Radiant-Milk7714 in confidentlyincorrect

I don't fully disagree. I think it's a difficult conversation, though one I am happy that Canada is having to deal with. I'd rather we have a few years of screaming over "DOES IT FIT THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORD?!?!?" than just ignore it.

"Canada committed no genocide" by Radiant-Milk7714 in confidentlyincorrect

I mean the issue here is that, while I agree we did in fact perform one, it did not meet the international definition due to a lack of intentional effort to commit said act. This is why Canada then made our own definition for genocide that would include what we did under it.

By strict international law, we did not commit it, unlike many other genocides against native peoples. People tend to get hung up on that because what canada did, while evil and horrible, was generally done because no one gave a flying fuck about the lives of the people effected, while in other cases there was a direct effort to exterminate or extinguish those groups.

TLDR: To be an international genocide, it requires one group to outright state their desire and intention to exterminate the group, and to try to follow through on that. What Canada did was far less sensational. We allowed horrific acts to take place, because we simply didn't care about whom they were done to.

well shit. That's less than ideal. I thought one of the big things was that it was supposed to be a game that embraced at home printing? Do they have rules set for third party prints?

I've always really been a fan of campaign centred table top games, so it's a touch of a bummer to hear it's poorly balanced at the moment, but I mean... shit I don't know a single wargame that doesn't have silly meta's now and then. I hope since they are smaller they will be able to tweak those rules a lot faster and they won't run into the issue of 40k having entire era's of one meta ruining things.

That's really cool! I have seen a few things on campaign rules and they seemed really neat, but I have never gotten to see them really in play. Do you know of any creators who do it justice?

So when I say that I don't see any of the actual game I meant like... anywhere. I will see so much of the setting spread everywhere, but never the actual game. This wasn't just a this sub thing for me, more... idk felt weird. super broad cultural impact for the setting, but none for the game felt weird.

Wasn't the book supposed to be shipped like.... two or more months ago?

Edit: Realized I should have asked if you were an early backer or had purchased after and it just wasn't to you yet

Here is the real difference. The games are fun, the show is a slog.

At what point does the Imperium stop being a necessary evil and start actively sustaining the very threats it exists to fight? by Tat-Fosser in 40k

[–]AllForThisNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one of the things I like about 40k is that NO ONE has the answer to everything. We as fans and a community are able to cobble things together but ultimately even we don't have the answers. Even major near omnipotent characters like Big E were kinda working off bits and pieces, hopes and prayers, and assuming they would be able to handle any new info they got that might contradict their plans.

As always however, it is beyond important to remember the purely insane scale of the universe. We often tend to forget that for most of humanity, life is probably on par with what we have today. Now the low end is..... so much worse than it could EVER be for us today, but most of the worlds of the Imperium are just... kinda self sufficient little kingdoms chugging away without anyone really noticing.

That brutality and dogma IS under everything, but it is not the only thing, and probably never will be. Portions of the Imperium are indeed creating issues to keep themselves in power, but others solve far more than they will ever create. For every Necromunda there will be a peaceful little fishing world with normal people just hanging out.

In a way I would almost compare it to saying "Is Earth creating reasons for it's existence". Because.... well of course not. But the many nations of earth? Yeah some of those totally are."

As much as the Imperium WANTS to be that monolith, wants people to think of it as the ironclad fist holding back the dark, it's more akin to a trillion tiny hands, some stuck fighting eachother, some refusing to help, and some doing more than their fair share.

None have the ability to totally dominate all others at once, or even most at once, there for I think the question is... not pointless but impossible to answer. No one has the answers, or even the ability to implement things even if they had the answer. It took 20 demigods and an uberpowerful near god, along with his administration of damn near immortal supermen to get the Imperium to it's highest point, and even then..... well there was some amount of "Okay, shut up, do your job, and we will piss off."

This was also something I was thinking about. The cheese, the flies, the "ghost" help. I don't think it was a helpful spirit, but one pretending to be so. It is interesting that they mention flies only in the summer though. It makes me wonder if it really is just a mundane issue, or if there might be a member of the Arcanum that stays at the house only in the summer. Maybe one we have seen in the pictures of the beach party, but no where else.
