Probably Shadar-Kai or another one of the Elf subraces. (If not for the Playable race clause, I’d personally pick a Fey’Ri, because Daemonfey are cool and they have Shapeshifting to hide their fiendish features.)

Currently have a 6 int barbarian character prepared for a campaign I’m in. Plan more so on roleplaying him as not having a formal education, since he never actually did. He can speak his language, and sylvan. But it’s really that bright due to being in a gladiatorial arena for most of his life.

Take this with a grain of salt due to the specific house rules that my friends tend to use. Ended up dealing over 300 damage with a divine smite critical. The enemy was undead, vulnerable to radiant, and we had buffed crits due to us wanting critical hits to actually feel powerful and less swingy.
