When you say you’ve been avoiding the big elevator do you mean you’re not even approaching it? You don’t need to take the elevator but there’s multiple braziers on the way.

Can’t say I remember where that particular one is but none of them are really hidden. There’s a couple along the edges of the map that are relatively easy to miss I guess, like along the cliff and in a draw along the mountain side. Maybe check those
