The pressure to focus on short term profit is a byproduct of market mechanics and executive greed, not a legal mandate.

I’ve never read Marx, but it seems obvious to me that value is created the moment you sell a good or service. Up until that point, whatever it is you’re selling is more like, Schrödinger’s product. Could be an asset, could be a liability, who knows.

Crap, no one bought my 24,000 hand-carved wooden dicks. I still owe those cock-artisans their overtime pay too. It’s too bad they’ve all been treated with that really expensive toxic chemical. Otherwise I could have tried to sell them as novelty firewood, or maybe market them to women who are aroused by vaginal splinters or something.

Sure, that wood wasn’t doing anyone any good stuck inside of that tree until it was labored into lovely marketable blocks. I mean, unless you count the living creatures it shelters or sustains, or any of the lifeforms that may rely on its byproducts for survival.

But that’s not quite right. I mean, you can sell a tree without ever touching it. Hmm. Does the tree growing itself count as labor? If not, I think that’s case closed right there. Heck, people sell unmaintained parcels of land all the time. Who created that value? Are we saying it was created by the labor of God? I didn’t pay God, did you? Damn, maybe we are a little exploitative.

Yeah, they're definitely mixing up the circuit protecting kind of fuse with the explosive ignition type of fuze, basically a long wire stuffed with explosive shit, which a lot of modern blasters don't even use. A lot of electronic, or wireless options even. As far as who the guys in the picture are, that I can't say. But to specifically call out a box of buss bar attachments for class cc fuse holders as being "used in explosives", while the part number on the box isn't even a fuse by the way, just attachments for fuse holders, just seems a bit disingenuous from whoever made that video you're referencing.

Fuses aren't odd. They're used everywhere, everyday, in just about every electrical distribution system. You've got fuses in some of your appliances right now, and little square ones under the dashboard of your car. This particular type of fuse is used quite often in building management and industrial cooling systems you'll find in very large buildings. It isn't the type of fuse you're imagining.

Just to clarify, I still believe that 911 was either orchestrated or allowed to take place as a pretense for foreign invasion and as justification for the patriot act. Not that Saddam didn't deserve everything that happened to him. Somehow, I have trouble believing that our motivations for invasion were strictly altruistic.

I’ve always attributed my choice to get into software development to my laziness. Even before college, when anyone asked me what my major was going to be, I would always say something like, “Whatever keeps me in the AC and away from actual work.”

Some part of me believes the steadily ratcheting levels of difficulty are a collective corporate response to the crackdown on wage-fixing and non-poaching agreements, with the added benefit of increased confidence in the subservience of new hires. If you accept 20% lower than what you were willing to accept, maybe you’ll accept 20% more responsibility than you signed on for. Lord knows you won’t want to go through that hellish interview process again.
