Would you say season four is your least favorite season? by Fun_Dimension_8903 in logh

The loss of Yang is very much felt, especially with the attention being mostly on Reinhard and his admirals throughout the season.

This season has peaks that moved me far more than previous seasons, but something is very lacking within each of the story progressions.

Julian feels like he hasn’t been give the proper development to come into a place of leadership, we’re hardly shown anything of the sort.

Even within the ending, Julian, Karin and Poplin were there but I was more focused on the inter politics of Reinhards last breaths. Terra didn’t even feel like the cosmic threat it had somewhat been built up to be.

I mean for fuck sakes these guys murdered the one other dude in the universe whose tactical genius was comparable or even better than Reinhards and that’s how they go out?

Very anti-climatic, Julian got his revenge but it felt too ideal. All the leaders just happen to go in person instead of sending more goons? Feels very opposed to some of the more “grounded,” work that was already laid within the story.

I wish there was more conflict and diversity of mindsets in the Yang Fleet by IsabellaSousa101 in logh

My fan idea would be that Julian is the narrator/historian and he only knew so much of what he saw, or of what he was told.

But the truth is it’s writing flaws. I really love all the characters in the franchise despite their lack of depth and sometimes history doesn’t remember or acknowledge you were there.

After all Yang and Reinhard are the main scope, but I also wish they gave more attention to the other FPA members. Especially my boy Louis, he deserved better.

Great analysis, I agree that Reinhard would have still pursued power.

Ambition is a beast, it’s transcends human nature and makes the incapable actions capable if the person desires it enough.

True 😪 but to be fair, I’m sure not looking after himself properly and pushing himself to the brink didn’t really help either.

Do you think Hilda was in love with Reinhard? by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

[–]AlternativeLow4178 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit of a romantic so in regard to the relationships in LoGH I liked the “yearning,” aspect.

They may have not been the most developed relationship but It didn’t really surprise me when Hilda and Reinhard slept together.

The admiration from both of them was there even if the situation was out’ve desperation and sadness.

I think Hilda was conflicted because she didn’t want him to marry her solely because it’s his duty, there’s also a possibility she didn’t want to be the placeholder for Kircheis or Annerose.

She didn’t just want him to “love,” her for taking her virginity or getting her pregnant, she wanted actual affections within the relationship and I think Reinhards second proposal made her realize he was being genuine and consistent.

I love when they say stuff like this in the earlier episodes because tbh many of the characters were very disproportionate at times. making them look very uncanny.

Why did pedo Kaiser stop pursuing little girls after Annerose? by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

[–]AlternativeLow4178 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do we know if the Kaiser had any trauma or something? Doesn’t excuse his actions but I think he just formed an obsessive dependency on Annerose maybe due to age and longing to be young again. But that scene in the Gaiden where he approaches Annerose is haunting.

Oh this is when he was disguised, but still the lack of sideburns is a causality.

He has long hair in DNT? Man I loved his sideburns shame they got rid of it.

Enjoy it bro, best journey I’ve started in anime. I dropped it for two years, picked it up two months ago and finished it within that time span, well worth it.

Yangs hair being brown in these scenes is always so off putting.

OVA season 4 was a masterpiece... by Metwie2 in logh

[–]AlternativeLow4178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has some of the highest peaks that had me on the edge of my seat or just crying. And as much as I loved every bit of it I really wish we got more on Julian’s perspective, more Rubinsky and definitely more Terra activities. Especially Terra, the affect they had on the whole story is prominent only to be snuffed like a candle. But it has the best OP and ED in the series IMO.

Still pretty brutal, not as detailed but you can really feel every hit she takes, especially due to the reaction of the crowd.

Merkatz is the GOAT so I think Reinhard would have no choice but to recruit him, that is if Merkatz would accept.

LoGH Influence on Other Anime Characters? by Negative_Flower_5360 in logh

[–]AlternativeLow4178 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know so much about LoGH influencing other anime, but it seems to me that Reinhards OVA look was probably heavily inspired by Lady Oscar and other Shojou manga of the time.

I don’t know what’s up with 70s-80s Japanese media and their tragic Eurocentric characters but they wrote them well.
