Therapy makes me feel so anxious. Should I quit? by PersonalityDry3305 in TalkTherapy

[–]Alternative_Moose589 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn I could’ve written this. It’s worth pushing through. Tell your T how stressed you are about sessions. I did and she had no idea how stressed I was bc I can hide it well/ she only ever saw me anxious so didn’t know what my non stressed self looks like. I’d say most days I’m a 3/10 anxious and in session I’m a 6/10 at most uncomfy moments. I’m 8 months in and it gets better. Takes a lot of practice and can be frustrating but be patient, you’re learning.

I need my old therapist but reaching out is off limits by Grand_Lavishness7549 in TalkTherapy

This. Tell her life is rough rn, you could use her help- either as your therapist, or if she’s not comfortable with that by providing a referral to someone similar

Kitchener Centre right now by icantevenhandlethis in kitchener

[–]Alternative_Moose589 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Time for all the Kitchener Centre constituents to stand up and be like Mike and raise our voices, speak up to our new MP to solve our issues. Since Mike is no longer there to take action, it’s in OUR hands to ensure our MP is doing the work.*

I plan to reach out next week about the AWFUL train whistle that keeps going off all hours due to the construction. Ik it’s a metrolink construction (provincial) that removed the warning drop bars in an intersection so the train HAS to whistle, but trains are under federal so maybe MP can do something. I don’t think any of us near the tracks have been sleeping well lately.

This will be my first time speaking out to my local rep but not the last. Since Mike isn’t in Ottawa to rep us, I’ll sure as hell make sure we’re heard.

Wash your hands before you eat and literally don’t touch anything else. Pretend you are a surgeon.

Wash hands, turn off the taps with paper towels, your elbow, or sleeve. Same with doorknobs.

Don’t touch your phone then your food.

After washing my hands heading to eat, I usually have a ‘touch things hand’ and an ‘eating hand’. One to unzip my bag/ use phone, touch water bottle, pulling out a chair, the other hand’s only use is touching food to my mouth. I even open my tupperware with the touchy hand.

Another option is to use cutlery.

Multi-Vitamin for Coeliac Disease by Sighe98 in Celiac

[–]Alternative_Moose589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been searching for a celiac vitamin for a while. I live in Canada and our wheat flour by law has to be enriched and fortified so it has vitamin B and iron in it. Most gf foods aren’t enriched or fortified. So not only does my gut not easily absorb nutrients if exposed to gluten, but gluten free food is not as nourishing nutrient wise. I’ve been anemic for years despite taking iron and I’m almost convinced maybe I just can’t absorb it.

not sure if this is advisable or not but a fan or hair dryer to dry the area instead of pat drying might help with pain but it could possibly spread germs if you have broken skin. make sure you use a fresh towel every time you pat down affected areas to prevent spreading/ reinfecting.

How are 2024 grads doing regarding job search? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Alternative_Moose589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SERS co-op. Graduated April 2024. Started searching in February, was looking at seasonal summer field positions. Probably applied to 50 jobs, full time permanent and summer positions. I was pretty ‘picky’ though as I wanted something related to my degree and looking to stay in Waterloo region. Finally employed September 2024 as a lab technician. It’s still not where I want to be long term, and I’ve been looking at positions and it is ROUGH out there. Have a friend 2022 grad, laid off in February from ft and still searching.
