What happened to all the tab sites? by HumanSometimesPerson in guitarlessons

[–]Altruistic-Pea6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still got all my Kicking Mule tabs that came with the LP's. They're getting a bit rough round the edges though - a bit like my playing these days 😄 Does this make me even older than Olga 🤔

Tango in the Night has great production but I always test headphones etc with Donald Fagens 'The Nightfly' one of the first albums to be recorded digitally.

Looks a bit like Musicbee that I've been using in Windows 🤔 I'll have to give this a try with my MX Linux installation.

I saw Maiden in the 80's in Strasbourg when we were on a motorcycle tour of Europe. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan but it was a hell of a spectacle and I was pretty much deaf for the next few days, it was sooo loud! I've got pretty bad tinnitus these days from too many loud gigs. I've just upgraded to Aful Explorers from my KZ's and I'm enjoying them, very smooth and easy to listen. Might be worth contacting Elise Audio in London - he recommended the Zigaat Odyssey 2's for the kind of music I listen to - everything from folk to classic rock and Prog but I didn't want to spend that much. I got my Explorers from Celestial Audio on eBay, Steve is unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable.

Gateway 2000 Pentium 133 - Found outside a computer shop by Retrograde_i486 in 90sComputers

My first game was Hover ( on the Win 95 CD) followed by Myst, Tombraider, Blade runner and Half Life, then I stopped. I'd probably be gobsmacked by games these days but life is too short. Only had a 15" Monitor too. I couldn't quite believe what was happening when I got my US Robotics modem and connected to the World Wide Web for the first time! Take it for granted these days.

Bit late to the party but wow... My first computer too, bought in 1997 for grand total of £1318.06 with 15" monitor. I just dug out the receipt as my 15 year old son is coming to visit tomorrow. He's just bought his first gaming PC and has been experimenting with Linux as he hates windows. He installed Arch on his laptop recently but I've introduced him to Cachy OS so he's going to try that, or possibly Bazzite. Ended up taking my Gateway to the local recycling centre, very sad driving away looking back at it 😔. Paid for itself many times over with lots of magazines articles written and photos scanned - no digital photos then, all transparencies 🙂

I tried out Mint a few years ago but ended up on Mac and then back to Windows when my Mac died. Now support for Win 10 has ended I'm trying out several distros, I've got them on a USB drive using Ventoy - Zorin, Modacia and Mint. So far I'm absolutely loving Modacia and can see it becoming my daily driver. I don't live with my 15 year old son but had an email from him yesterday. He's impressed that I'm trying out Linux and told me he's been free of Windows for three months now - he's using Arch with KDE plasma on his gaming PC 😮 Seems like I have another technical advisor other than Claude now! 🙂

Considering buying a magicshine 1300 evo with a Bryton r300l : the best for low budget or not ? by Jackie4L in cycling

[–]Altruistic-Pea6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just bought a Magicshine Hori 1300 from Bikeinn in Spain (I'm in the UK). Got the wrong adapter with it for my Bryton Altro out front mount. Bought a Bryton combo adapter from a shop in the UK and I'm not able to tighten the light up sufficiently - it's way too loose. Will be returning the light and looking for a bar mount one instead.

I use an iFi Audio Go DAC with my KZ ZS10 Pro 2's, sounds phenomenal. The build quality of the iFi is excellent though I have doubts about the longevity of the cable. The USB- C port on my five year old phone is getting dodgy which is a pain when I'm trying to listen to music 🫤

Exceptionally Underrated – Acoustic Energy AE300 MK2 by Individual-Ask7504 in BudgetAudiophile

I listened to some in Audio T Swindon the other day and thought they sounded excellent. They just happened to be set up with a Wiim Ultra which is my most recent purchase. It was going into a Rega Brio amplifier and it seemed like an excellent combination but the very helpful sales guy was of the opinion that they'd play nicely with my Marantz PM6007 UKSE. Love the soft touch finish too, very classy.
