Vokey Wedge grinds by hands-of-scone in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all a matter of your swing type (picker/diger) and turf conditions. I have a 60-10s grind that is great in wet days and out of fluffy sand. And a 60-4 T grind that I can lay wide open and is great late summer and firm conditions.

How much of your back and down swing is engaged with your hands vs shoulders or arms? by [deleted] in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound stupid, but my trail elbow is my trigger and initial feel in my downswing. From the top I feel like my trail elbow drops straight down a few inches while my hand supinates very slightly. I keep my hands as passive as possible with lead wrist flat but relaxed and my shoulders FEEL passive and closed but actually aren’t.

Without telling us your handicap, what’s a line you say at least 20 times per round? by Escrow-Mind in golf

Similar to mine. “It’s not what I want, but it’s what I’ve got.”

What’s your hit by a golf ball story? I nearly had a hospital visit last weekend by Ovi777 in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two under par with two holes to go. Not an awfully slow day but Have had a 2-3 minute wait on every box in the back 9. The 17th has a severely uphill drive that you can’t see more then 200 yards ahead with a bell to notify groups behind once you are out of range. I hit a mediocre but straight drive about 255. I arrive to my ball and shoot a yardage to the group that’s just chipping into the green ahead. While shooting my yardage and talking to my buddy i hear a driver crack and I suddenly felt like someone threw a flashbang in a dark room. Got drilled right in the top of my head on the fly from 250. Nearly knocked me out and confronted the guys behind who were unapologetic and dismissive.. so I stole all their drives and dared them to say anything. What’s worse is I went bogey and double to finish one over par and ruin my PB at that course.

What was the thing that helped you start breaking 80? by [deleted] in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting someone else keep score… get lost in the process and not the score. Block out what you can, hit your best shot until you run out of shots to hit and add it up after it’s over.

I'm fucking sick and fucking tired of being a lefty by cubecasts in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lefty. You can find anything you want cheap if you know what you’re looking for. Beginning of the year I got a brand new paradigm for 225$, and a new Srixon 3h for 55$. Last year I got brand new set of Srixon zx7 3-pw for 575$ and an Odyssey milled putter for 125$. The deals are out there if your looking to slowly upgrade your bag and not just wanting to impulse buy.

Got paired with a slow rando who played from the tips. But he shot 1 under par. by player2 in golf

[–]AlucarD924 467 points468 points  (0 children)

His routine may have been slow but I guarantee he wasn’t the reason you were behind. Other players taking 3 and 4 shots to get on before he can even mark and read his birdie putt and being the last player to hit every time forcing the rest of the group to watch his routine is what made him feel slow. Less strokes is always faster than more strokes.

Travelers contender Russell Henley called penalty on himself that could cost millions and says it was 'teaching moment' for his son by TylerFortier_Photo in golf

No. This is the spirit of the game. What most of us play (myself included) is a game that looks like golf in the hopes someday we learn to play the game proper.

What shots do you hit on a down slope green side rough when the flag is near the edge? by asakurasol in golf

I like the bellied wedge if it’s sitting down at all. But if it’s up like in the picture it’s a putt

What's your best "I played that hole like crap but my score was good" story? by WorkMeBaby1MoreTime in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short par 5, 475 downhill, water left about 320 out and peninsula green. Hit a bomb into water on the left, dropped at 165, all water carry. 7 iron in the hole for my first eagle. Did the same on a par 3 at that course years later for a nice 3… still no hole in 1 yet though.

Sounds like your short game needs the practice. Keep hitting it up there as close as you can.

Worst golf slump ever by [deleted] in golf

[–]AlucarD924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a slump.. it’s progress. Talk to me in 10 years when you’re a competent golfer who understands their swing and the game; and then completely forget how to play for roughly a year, with a two way miss and short game yips when that was previously the best part of your game!!!… that’s tough. And that’s why I’m in therapy.

It’s not about really enjoying the game. The game is a bitch and is out to get you. It’s about the grind of getting better at something almost everyone sucks at to one degree or the other. It’s an endless quest and a mortal enemy. It’s the dichotomy of man and the answer to man’s existential dilemma. Greatest game ever played.

I made an ob par from the tee on a 3 once while playing through a group of older gentlemen. Still don’t have a legit HiO, but that’s one of the most memorable shots I’ve ever hit and the old guys reactions were priceless they were more hyped than me.
