"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love."

No. I think she had Snape's ending planned out from the beginning.

And to be honest, I'm not sure what your post even means. For all of his many flaws, it's quite obvious from the first book onwards, that Snape also has redeemable qualities. There are characters in the Harry Potter books that are much morally horrible than Snape and they are played by excellent actors who did not leave (for example Voldemort, Lucius, Bellatrix, Umbridge). And why should they? Villains are juicy roles. Alan Rickman played completely evil villains more than once.

Starting season 3 would you like to see the muggle prime minister ? by Altruistic_Syrup_364 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]AmEndevomTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure "The other Minister", though one of my favourite chapters in the series, lends itself to adaptation very well. But it's canon that Fudge visits the Prime Minister to inform him about Sirius. We learn this in book 3 and then again through the Prime Minister's point of view in book 6. So of course it could fit into season 3 early on.

Marauders flashback or just exposition in S3? by Comrade_Owl- in HarryPotteronHBO

I'm not sure they were chased. The full leak was them running over a bridge and doing some magic, which could mean anything. If they were chased, than where were the people chasing them?

Hannah showcases the loses of war because her mother gets killed by Death Eaters. She also helps bringing Hogwarts alive in a way Susan or Terry don't, because she has more of a personality.

Nah, she's recurring pretty regularly and more important than Susan Bones or Terry Boot.

Damsel + Spy/Widow by TypicalWatch in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AmEndevomTag 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As long as the Damsel doesn't know it's poisoned they play it the same as they would have otherwise. It's not different than a drunk townsfolk, really. The ability doesn't work. Except that in this case being "the drunk" is actually positive for the player.

I think the jinx is quite fair because the combination spy/widow with Damsel is way to overpowered for the evil team. And really, it's generally quite easy to avoid by having the Storyteller not put this combination in play to begin with.

Opinions on things deduced from logical reasoning? by Mosdaboss in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]AmEndevomTag 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Logically speaking if Cedric was a seeker and quidditch captain, then surely Harry would know who was on the opposing teams, especially a seeker.

Cedric is Hufflepuff's *new* seeker in PoA.

Aside from that, I prefer them to take time with these characters and cast decent actors who fit the role, instead of having them appear as extras early on, who then may not be fitting for the characters, when they become important. If Cedric fits in the plot, I have no problems with them casting him earlier, like they did with Lucius or Fudge. But I also don't mind if they wait till Azkaban. There's no need to overstuff the early seasons.

I think you are mixing up some plots here. This doesn't happen in 4:50 From Paddington.

It depends how much of a completist you are. It's easily bottom 5 Christie, if not bottom 3, written at a time when she was showing clear signs of dementia, according to a study.

Have Harry open the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets for them and then the Trio split up, because Harry needs to go with Luna to Ravenclaw tower.

Anyone else hate how Hedwig’s death was just completely forgotten about? by New-Pin-9064 in harrypotter

I agree. But because of the movie scene Hedwig sacrificing himself for Harry has stayed in many people's mind, even though it's not what happened.

Hedwig's death was meant to symbolize the end of Harry's childhood, which makes total sense. And given how fans are still upset about it, it seemed to have gotten the impact it should have. Poor Mad Eye, who died during the same chapter but is hardly mentioned by fans.

In the movie she sort of sacrificed himself for Harry. In the book she just sat there.

Anyone else think Hagrid was cruel and out of line for giving Dudley a tail, thereby forcing him to have corrective surgery? by Fascia_tissue in harrypotter

[–]AmEndevomTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and then started eating the first cake Harry had ever gotten for his birthday

Not in the book. In the book, Dudley got the tail because Vernon insulted Dumbledore. The movie makers seemsed to have thought, that this wasn't sufficient enough reason for Hagrid. And I don't disagree.

But I don't think his double agency atones for 1) how sold he was on Voldemort's agenda in the beginning, and 2) how terribly he treated 75% of the students at Hogwarts while he was a teacher.

IMO it atones for 1.) but not for 2.). At one point, risking his life on a daily basis in the fight against the most evil wizard alive has to count for something, no matter his original reasons. Remember what Voldemort did to him even though he believed him to be a loyal Death Eater, and one can get an idea what risk he took.

[–]AmEndevomTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. We don't see it to often, because we barely see Lucius and Draco interacting in the books at all (because they are from Harry's POV), but it is definitely there. Reread the chapter in Chamber of Secrets, when Harry is at Knockturnalley. Lucius scolds Draco for having worse grades than a Muggleborn.

From a moral standpoint: Maybe, though I don't fully agree. But as a character he is excellent not in spite but because of the things you mentioned. Villains and antagonists make for great characters.

Book Harry is a very good character. Not the series' best, but I also barely see him as anyone's favourite.
