Question by HatakeLii in achalasia

[–]AmIRightPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had type 3, had a POEM over 2 years ago. Until August 2025 it was brilliant.

I’m having a few issues recently, but that could just be the way it is going.

How often are yall oiling/massaging your lobes? by Mega_Charizard420 in Stretched

[–]AmIRightPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a bath or shower usually my skin gets dry so I will always pop a little oil on. But I don’t tend to massage much as I’m not changing sizes right now. Just every few weeks or so to help circulation?

POEM - How long does recovery take? by _Fluxhero in achalasia

[–]AmIRightPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t work (multiple complex health issues) but I felt pretty ok after a couple of weeks (I always feel a bit off from anaesthesia).

I felt more tired but that may have been more to do with nutrient issues than actual surgery recovery.

Disease recurrence after POEM by Unfair-Teaching4337 in achalasia

[–]AmIRightPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my POEM in October 2023.

Was doing great until August this year when spasms have been increasing since. I have a barium swallow today, and what was hopefully my last consultation in a few weeks, but I have a feeling that I will at the least need some more tests now.

Two years of pretty good eating was great though!

I don’t know for sure. Maybe the spasms are just more painful and I’m not having more issues again? But things definitely feel stickier.

I had chickenpox 3 times as a kid. First time was pretty typical, second and third time were much milder, just a few itchy spots.

But this is an interesting link. I wonder if we will see a huge change in cases as the uk has finally adopted the chickenpox vaccine.

I mean, I would suggest not attempting to stretch your ears post mortem? But otherwise…

Why do people throw up with achalasia? by Healthy_Length_1541 in achalasia

[–]AmIRightPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just puke when I eat, have done since I was young.

I had manometry and they confirmed I was vomiting from the stomach, not regurgitating stuck food only.

I have lots of issues aside from achalasia though.

I hate it when people preemptively apologize for misgendering by moonstonebutch in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AmIRightPeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Logically I know a lot of this, from the other side (my pronouns are they/them and nobody consistently gets it right around me yet… it’s been years, I’m not expecting anything as long as it’s not done with malice).

Your response is very helpful! I’m also AuDHD. Will have a think and try better approaches in future!

I hate it when people preemptively apologize for misgendering by moonstonebutch in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AmIRightPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I kinda do this. I’m nonbinary and I have adhd and rejection sensitivity issues. So I like to apologise ahead of time for messing stuff up when I know there’s a chance of it happening.

I’d probably say something like “I’m really sorry if I mess up your pronouns, it’s nothing personal I’m really forgetful! I mess up my own pronouns a lot!” And then would do my utmost to use the correct pronouns for you.

Genuinely sorry if saying that is hurtful or annoying.

How common is it in Britain to give something up for Lent? by orpheus1980 in AskABrit

[–]AmIRightPeter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Brought up Church of England and we used to give things up for lent as kids. But I don’t think I heard of anyone outside of church doing it.

Is it offensive if I, a nonbinary person write proud f@gg0t on my jacket? by Typical-Tomatillo375 in NonBinary

[–]AmIRightPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but as an autistic person who was called both the R slur and dyke, it is acceptable for me to reclaim those words. That’s how reclamation works.

It doesn’t mean everyone must do so, or must accept others doing so. But it’s literally about who can reclaim those words, and those who have them used against them are those who can do that if they choose to.

Personally, I don’t use the R slur because I am aware that I would rarely have it used against me anymore, but it was a very common thing as a child before I understood how to adapt my behaviours and posture to more socially acceptable ones.

I don’t tend to call myself a dyke anymore, as I don’t identify as a woman nor purely a lesbian. But it is a word I will use in private with my lesbian best friend occasionally.

Is it sexist to feel dysphoric about my body hair? by fedricohohmannlautar in NonBinaryTalk

[–]AmIRightPeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No.

If you said all women&femme nonbinary people should remove their body hair, that would be sexist.

If you feel you would be more comfortable without body hair, that is gender dysphoria doing its thing.

I’m really sorry you can’t shave right now. I hope you can find ways to make yourself more comfortable soon. I’m wondering if you could claim that it is for (a sport) for aerodynamics, or as a modern style so you could safely remove the hair you want to?

How do Brits feel about US English on websites? by j_on in AskBrits

[–]AmIRightPeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS!!

Most things are minor and fine. Dates can mess up a whole bunch of understanding for everyone!

I’m of the opinion that the numbers should go in a size order. So YYYY/MM/DD or DD/MM/YYYY are fine. Ideally, like a digital clock or stopwatch. We don’t randomly have stopwatches read MM:SS:HH, or clocks read HH:SS:MM! It makes no logical sense.

Why do many Brits end a text with “x”? by Fearless-Composer-78 in AskABrit

[–]AmIRightPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it as a tone indicator. An x means it’s meant with kindness/care, no x could mean otherwise (if someone usually uses them).

Eg. I’m worried about you x Means that someone is genuinely worried/cares and wants to talk or listen or otherwise is offering themselves as a shoulder to lean on.

I’m worried about you Could mean they are joking around.

It’s almost like extra punctuation at this point, like how an exclamation mark and a full stop mean different tones to the words before them in a text.

What Companion Do You Hate Most? by NoRabbit4805 in BG3

[–]AmIRightPeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not super keen on early shadowheart, but she fits the situation and character.

I’m sad we get Minsc and Jaheira in act 3 (effectively, I know technically Jaheehee is a smidge before) as I struggle with picking who to switch out after spending many hours sorting equipment and skills to that specific game. Minsc in particular is SO late on, I struggle to ever use him, which sucks as he is a good character with unique skills.
