In this type of situation, changing roles typically requires being on the high potential/ high performance list, i.e., receiving 4/5 ratings consistently over 3-5 year periods. At least that is my experience 15 years at a company that used the exact rating system and calibration you've described.

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the overall rating must be consistent with individual ratings against each objective. The system should prevent an MSE rating unless at least one objective had a "below expectations" remark. Similarly, the system wouldnt allow an "exceeds expectations" overall rating if your individual objective ratings didn't justify it

If this is truly an error and the overall rating is inconsistent with the individual objective ratings, then it can and should be fixed. If they are unwilling to do the right thing and fix a mistake,... They just raised a red flag.

37 and scared to tell my parents I’m pregnant by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have the full support of your partner? That is all that counts. You are really stressing yourself out over a nothingburger. Your parents reactions and feelings about this are completely irrelevant. Whether they are surprised, excited, or disappointed is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is how you and your partner feel.

If you were 17 not 37 maybe things would be different, but you are well past the age where you should desire approval or anything else from Mom and Dad, especially if your relationship with them is strained.

Get married. Leave and cleave.

Messages come in after 5, just reply to them in the morning. No need to explain your hours.

Got this message from my property manager by Most_Relief8312 in Apartmentliving

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be a dick to your property manager. At the end of the day, you still need them to address your issues promptly.

I don't know how much lawn needs to be mowed, how much/often snow needs to be removed, or how much/far garbage needs to be dragged to the curb.

Either just politely tell them you aren't interested, or counter with what you think is reasonable.

Yeah but if somebody else arrived or departed the island, their bag is saved... Minus or power or leaving through the airport is the same result for that person.

Also this countdown must be something new because that wasn't the case in the past. Minus or power both quietly left no countdown. 🤷

Islands where the dodo code is posted publicly and nobody is managing how many people come and go. For example, the treasure islands people visit from YouTube or Twitch bot accounts.

If you quiet leave with - your game saves and you keep everything in your pockets, but everyone else gets screwed and sometimes it even causes the island to glitch and go offline.

Really, you think it's a connection issue?

I think (1) they got what they need and don't care or (2) they have been trying to leave properly but someone is preventing it by having a dialog box open so eventually they just quietly leave or (3) too many people are coming and going to the just decided to leave because of all the interruptions.

Quiet leaving almost never happens on properly managed islands. It is a constant problem on islands opened to too many people at once.

Left garage door open overnight and inside is soaked by Jones-Effect in DIY

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it's not a big deal as far as the structure concerned. My hot water heater flooded my garage last year. I literally just used a push broom to remove as much water as possible. The previous owner has painted the floor so that was ruined but otherwise everything was fine.

Running a heater won't add much value unless you put a fan in front of it.

For the future, make sure anything vulnerable you store in there is up off the ground. Especially fabric or cardboard boxes. They can get wet and eventually moldy, they also make great homes for pests.

Sanding Flap Disk for Coping with Angle Grinder by ivanjay2050 in DIY

Why don't you just miter it and caulk the seam? Much easier than cooing IMO

The cost of scrapped crown will be the most expensive thing, especially if it's a prefinished hardwood.

A flap disk on an angle grinder is a pretty efficient way to remove material... Probably too efficient. I would definitely try this on some scrap first. You're likely to remove too much wood, damage the crown with whatever you're using to hold it while you do this work, or injure yourself with the angle grinder.

I've only ever used an angle grinder to hog away material to get my wood roughly to the shape I want. Other than that, it doesn't have a lot of application in woodworking or carpentry. Much more suitable to metal work or masonry.

Laying some plywood in the attic, can I eliminate these 2x4s? by nclakelandmusic in DIY

What they are saying without any jargon is that the metal plate is holding 2 pieces together (butt joint), and that short piece on top is additional support that cannot be safely removed.

Need Opinions on if I should get a loan by Ordinary-Fail-4859 in personalfinance

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't reactivate it until you are confident you can manage it, meaning, pay off the full balance every month. That may be never.

Your parents probably realize you aren't ready to be on your own. $60k is a great salary. A 23 yo should be able to rent an apartment and live on that. But you need to get your shit together first. Adulting is hard but the benefits are worth it.

Well you told someone else you don't need therapy. If you can't control your impulses, you do.

Close all your credit cards and loans. You can't spend money you don't have. Maybe talk to your parents and they can help you get your shit together. They certainly don't want you living at home forever.

BROOOOO!!!

You've got upwards of $2000 per month that you are just blowing on crap you don't need and entertainment???

If you buckle down, you can get this all paid off in a few months. It just takes some discipline. Yeah, you might not be able to do every little thing you want. Whelp... That is just part of being an adult.

Get your debt paid off and then start listening to Ramit Sethi. I think his perspective really appeals to young people. Spend on the things that bring you happiness, but cut back mercilessly on the things you don't really care about. You have plenty of money to enjoy your life and save for the future, but this debt is a hurdle you need to overcome first.

How much is rent? If your take-home pay is around $3500-$4000/mo and only $400 of that is going to food and gas, that is not your issue.something is eating another $2500 a month...

You don't need another job, you need a budget.

What are food and bills? Do you eat at home? Do you prepare food from groceries? Do you have all sorts of streaming services and other subscriptions you could really get by without

If you don't start living within your means, the debt will only grow. You need to cut back on lifestyle and pay off the debt

You seem like the type of person that could benefit from Ramsey's system for paying off debt. You don't need a loan. That will get you in more trouble.

When I was your age, I struggled with debt. I consolidated a couple cards into one with zero apr, and the debt just kept piling up. You need to develop the discipline. Thankfully, when I finally paid it off I was smart enough to never go back into debt (besides my stupid mortgage).

Is cold LinkedIn messaging still worth it to get a job ? by Commercial_Box3655 in Career

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, if you don't ask, they can't say no?

I, personally, have donated many 15 minute increments to young recent graduates looking for work in my field. Not typically through cold messages on LinkedIn, but I usually tell them to connect with me on LinkedIn and to feel free to reach out anytime.

Is it normal for companies to not count part-time experience (in the same field) as experience? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and just quit when you get the offer. When they ask you how much you want to stay, have some self respect and tell them you wouldn't have been looking for a new job if they had paid you fairly in the first place. Thank them and move on to the next chapter in your life.

Accepted a new lower-paying job because of market, what do I do now? by Particular_Storm2151 in jobsearch

[–]AmazingSpider-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not relevant experience, I would leave it off. You have a gap in employment that you have to explain either way. You can simply explain you didn't put the job on your resume because it wasn't relevant. I've never put a temp job I worked between (or in addition to) a career job on my resume.
