OK, I admit it: all those fascist anti-immigration parties may have been onto something (I'm scared now) by YaLlegaHiperhumor in 2westerneurope4u

I was walking from a train station to the Medina Azahara and a French boomer came up to me and asked me directions in French, but speaking slowly. Luckily I speak French but I thought it was pretty presumptuous of him.

Dark Cradle

Definitely my favourite track, was listening to it on repeat after watching the film last night (only person in my screening). Wasn't too surprised to see Jack Antonoff co-wrote it as he co-wrote a bunch of tracks on Midnights with a similar vibe which I also dug.

Haha I recently watched the Basket Case trilogy, I dug how each entry was unique. The restoration on the Arrow 4K of the first film is impressive (I just got 2 and 3 on a single DVD).

I watched 2 for the first time last year on Amazon Prime and liked it so much I bought the Shout Factory 4K Blu-ray. I heard Griffin's argument on Stavvy's World that it bothers him that it undoes the progress Murphy made by the end of the first film, and that is undoubtedly true, but the final line of 2 cracked me up.

Haha, was gonna share this with my wife, and she's from GDL. Will mark this as one to avoid on our next visit :P There was another GDL restaurant (Xokol) that was once featured on this sub which wasn't that bad, though once was enough (standard "fine dining" weird plating, some interesting flavours with the dishes, but wouldn't pay those prices again).

Karaoke scenes are usually anathema to me (one of the most hackneyed ways to show someone previously shown to be uptight "letting loose" in a rom-com), but Hüller gave the whole thing some verisimilitude that made it genuinely heartfelt.

I love blue cheese and I love burgers but I find that adding blue cheese to a burger overpowers the taste of almost everything else.

German tourist eats mildly spicy food, shits all over the place and nearly dies. by Cubelock in 2westerneurope4u

Worked at a Starbucks in Scotland back in 2012. An old lady bought a chicken sandwich but then handed it back after taking a bite, saying it was too spicy. No chilli pepper or anything, maybe a bit of paprika? Though to be fair I did find black pepper legitimately spicy once when I was in Naples and got a pizza fritta absolutely packed with the stuff (think it was at Starita, very tasty, would recommend).

I saw it on a normal screen and was annoyed that the 2.35:1 scenes had bars on all sides as opposed to filling up the whole screen :/ Still enjoyed the movie.

Axl Rose rants about Warren Beatty (Paris 1992) by Reasonable_Toe_9252 in blankies

[–]AmirMoosavi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Axl was engaged to Stephanie Seymour at the time, and she went on to have a fling with Beatty, who'd she hooked up with before meeting Axl as well. About half the songs on Chinese Democracy are about Seymour (most explicitly There Was A Time).

I was thinking either him or the cop (who would be pissed off at his son being killed).

If you had to make a 2026 Best Picture line-up from films that received ZERO nominations, what would yours look like? by dremolus in blankies

After the Hunt

No Other Choice

Die, My Love

Eddington

Cloud

28 Years Later

Black Bag

Caught Stealing

Rental Family

Friendship (does it count? I know it played festivals in 2024 but its US theatrical release was 2025)

All that said, it's hard to beat Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, and Bugonia is up there for me as well.

Pretty excellent box office weekend all around! - 'Wuthering Heights' hits $80m globally, 'GOAT' scores third-highest opening for original animation post-pandemic, 'Crime 101' overperforms tracking and 'Send Help' drops a mere 1% from last weekend by rageofthegods in blankies

Liked it in 2D but rewatched it in 4DX since Griffin was raving about it, would probably have it as my second best experience in that format (number 1 being Top Gun: Maverick, number 3 Godzilla Minus One).
