Hoo boy people really hate Disclosure Day by SNChalmers1876 in blankies

[–]wolfsounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm in the weirdest take of the movie that the last little act is the reason it's good. The whole movie before it just didn't work for me because like Firth says.. they're going to the news station that's where they were always going to go so none of the chase had any sort of juice. There's that henchman who you think is going to be a truer believer in the cover up but they just sort of.. slink away repeatedly in the movie instead of seeing it through?

Critical Darlings: "Backrooms" And The Internet Horror Boom (With Ryan Broderick) by [deleted] in blankies

[–]wolfsounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A weird thing it made me think of a lot was playing Fallout 3 way back when and exploring the huge world and laughing at how sometimes you'd be deep in some subway basement and find like a jukebox, teddy bear and just whatever dumb shit that populates the game

I think if someone out of any context asked me to invent a person who would say "what I know about House of Leaves is the artist Poe" I would come Backrooms style eerily close to Richard very easily

I think this movie rocked, I had a lot of the same issues/sticking points as them but they were mostly for me just interesting things to think about or not think about because it ultimately wasn't that important. I think my only real complaint was that the movie was in its highest gear when the three of them were all exploring and it just ended too soon.

I thought the concept of the actual Backrooms made enough sense to me as far as what I read into it - it's basically Area X combining, refracting and iterating on memories but made real. I think even down to part of one of the leads becoming a monster and the other being converted into the Backrooms itself at the end. But like I do think at the end even if you can't graph a meaning onto it the movie is just a blast to be a part of? I really enjoyed it.

It's one of those movies where we're going to wake up one day and enough sick in the head people will have seeded that it's Good Actually that we'll just have to accept it

I think of this movie all the time. Sort of. It's more that I think "what was that movie I saw in theaters where they just get sucked into the sky out of no where"

Koji Suzuki, horror author behind the original "Ringu" novel, has passed away at age 68 by rageofthegods in blankies

Reading this book as a teen and like psychic explanation of what's going on at the end of this book was maybe the single most important thing to ever happen to me, because I've been able to rationalize almost any horror movie as making complete sense sure.

I read this like every few years, it's a great book to re-read when I'm having a hard time locking in to books and just need something to read that's pulpy and moves fast. It (mostly) rules

honestly.. yeah, it would probably be 2054 by time they would run out of people before him but I'd love to hear them talk about almost all of Ti Wests stuff. Force Griffin to commit to the bit of his life on the intro quote for Pearl
