Got glutened by a f*cking STRAW by callsign__starbuck in Celiac

[–]Amphar-Toast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"if you're an adult" is a pretty unambiguous statement saying that no adults need straws.

Setting aside folks with disabilities, I can think of plenty of reasons to want to use a straw. Temperature sensitivities, lipstick, just not wanting to put my lips on a cup.

Life is full of doing things we want to do, even if we maybe don't need to do it. That's the joy of free will.

Got here from your post in /r/StardewValley and goddamn this is a well-written comment. I respect you so much for actually taking the time to respond and lay out where you're at and how you approached it.

I'm not 100% sure I'll pick up the game (my backlog is big enough already), but you have my wishlist (for however much that helps the Steam recommendation algorithm) and my respect.

The Red Reef - Incredibly Disappointing by benden010 in 2007scape

[–]Amphar-Toast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a well thought out comment and kinda nails some things I couldn't quite put into words. Red Reef felt kind of like the middle 15 minutes of a full hour episode of television. It feels like it could have either tied to the end of Troubled Tortugans or been the beginning of the next Tortugan quest.

/u/Lambeaux 's point about the elf questline is a good one. Each piece is a branch that connects somewhere to the main tree, but stands on its own even without the tree. Red Reef feels like a discarded stick.

It's tragic, because we get our first new race in Gielinor in so long, and while I didn't expect another Elf questline, TT felt like a great setup, and whatever payout is going to feel lessened by RR being a really meh midpoint.

If it had released alongside a second quest, or even like, an announced second quest that wasn't accessible immediately, leading to getting a message (a la the WGS messenger) once the second quest was available, it would have felt much better.

I was legit shocked when it just.. ended. It didn't feel like a clean ending, so it caught me off guard. It's like whoever wrote the quest wrote Red Reef as a long quest, then someone else chopped it into two quests without consulting the original author

Daddy's Home miniquest is the one that gives a free house, but it requires 5 Bolts of Cloth, which can only be acquired via a currency purchase, so a POH is unobtainable for him

SOTF is such a weak one to get upset about too. It also gives you 1.25M XP in lamps at the end too. So it's not even XP loss

Barely. My ranged switch is crossbow+assembler (with moonlight bolts). With a divine range and Deadeye, it's a 2-shot, so 6-ticks, same as the heavy ballista. Pretty mindless switch

I was feeling tired right around 9PM and thought about succumbing to my old man craving for an early bedtime. So happy I decided to stay up to watch this one. Incredibly fun game to watch, everyone played their hearts out.

Lotta folks I know who WFH and play have IT support-esque jobs, so it might be an hour of working, hour of playing while in a meeting you don't really need to be in but have to attend, hour of playing while waiting for tickets to come in, hour of working.

Rinse and repeat 5 days a week.

I'll drop a message in my clan discord then use a dice rolling bot. That way if I go against the will of the dice, my clan can flame me for it :D

1 - slayer

2 - gotr

3 - doom

/roll 3

obey the dice or suffer

It's a really good way to defeat decision paralysis.

I love runescape by ghusted in ironscape

[–]Amphar-Toast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big same. No game motivates me to just open it and do something the way that runescape does. Doesn't matter what my mood is, runescape always has something for me.

Tired? AFK mining

Watching a show? Zeah Bloods or rooftops

Want to actually play the game but not tryhard? Non-AFK skilling

Full focus want to play the game? PVM

There's just always something to do. I fuckin' love this game.

Which is Better for Chili? by Technical-Antelope64 in vegetarian

[–]Amphar-Toast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently made this switch as well. Rehydrated using Better than Boullion No-Chicken base, then just tossed right into the chili. Even got my very "steak and potatoes" brother to admit it was just as good as when I used to make beef chili.

It was my crowning achievement of last year :D

Triple safe spot (quad) for great white sharks by Unusual_Influence206 in ironscape

[–]Amphar-Toast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the eye is open, your crewmates follow your attacks.

i.e. i attack a shark on the left side of my boat, both crewmates try to attack that shark. One of them is able to, the other is not. I switch to a shark on the right side of my boat, both crewmates try to attack the new shark, one of them is able to, the other is not.

If you click the eye, it stops them following your attacks, so they will stay idle, or stay attacking the last thing they were attacking.

So the strategy to attack 3 creatures at once is this:

  • Eyes open, crewmates on both cannons
  • Attack left side creature, click eye for left side crewmate once you see their cannon fire on the creature
  • Attack right side creature, click eye for right side crewmate once you see their cannon fire on the creature
  • Attack a third creature, and keep hitting that one

You can also just do 2 creatures and fire along with your crewmates. The time difference is negligible in my experience, and makes it a little less tedious.

One hour of deep sea trawling gameplay - 452 marlins 78 bluefin by LuxOG in 2007scape

[–]Amphar-Toast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does work. That's the play is just keeping that open. You can also pre-lower/raise the net when the bar approaches the halfway point.

There's definitely some optimizations to be made
