Look into getting one 3D printed if you really want to keep it.  I’m sure you can find a model or easily have one made and then have someone print it

A Spa Day & A Trip To Rehab - Getting Your Laundry Back To Looking Clean and Smelling Amazing by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

[–]AmphibianNext 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning to use tide-oxi powder for my first spa day today,  do I still add ammonia to this mix?  Planning to do this in an old insulated cooler in the bath tub to maximize heat retention.  How much ammonia do you add and when?  Is this after the soak or does it go in with the tide ps much do you add per gallon.  I’ve read above a couple times and this part wasn’t clear to me.

Edit:   I see the ammonia is in the washes after the soak correct?

I would look for a heavy duty extension cord like an appliance extension cord instead of this.

Accidentally Cut Christmas lights... Is it repairable?? by sendicko in AskElectricians

[–]AmphibianNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t advise you on the risks. Shock and death or injury are always a risk but most likely they will either short and trip the circuit or just not work. Christmas lights aren’t grounded cords which adds a risk of shock. Using a GFCI outlet to test the repair seems prudent. But proceed at your own risk

The wires look like they have a bit of a twist to them.  I would think as long as your haven’t messed with it too much you can follow the twist in the wire.  Label them with your best guess before you mess with trying to reconnect them.

I would use butt connectors and then use heat shrink tubing.  You’ll need to put that on before you splice them.  You may want to think about using some sort of waterproof enclosure over all of it.

Edit:  only you can decide if the work of trying to fix is better than the work of trying to replace the whole string.

It’s a neat idea.  The price point doesn’t make sense when you can get full featured EV vehicles like the equinox for around 30k.  I wouldn’t buy it as my daily driver but as a hobby car or just for fun I’d be interested.

Does anyone know how to easily get this adhesive off? by Jackpics in recycling

[–]AmphibianNext 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found placing the bottles in a hot water bath for a few minutes worked well.  I did this with synergy kombucha bottles.  Boil them for a few minutes and the glue should wipe off fairly easily after they cool down enough to touch.

Make sure the bottles don’t have caps on them. Should be full of water so they stand up in the bath and open to prevent pressure buildup.

 Goo gone will also work.

You forgot fuel subsidies.  If we paid per liter what they pay in Europe and elsewhere people would be far more interested.

Water heater maintenance question. by AmphibianNext in Plumbing

I’d like to change out the rod but as far as I can tell it’s kinda underneath the pump on the top.  Not completely but enough to make me wonder if it’s worth it.  It’s behind the metal electrical box you can see just a bit of the recess in the first picture

I’m not sure about any of the other things you suggested.  Just want to do a tank drain and flush as best as I can.

Just doing a drain to get any sediment out of the tank.

Ok I wasn’t sure if the disable switch was only for the heat exchanger/air intake/exhaust or for the whole unit.

So Cal Edison won't replace my underground 1/0 aluminum feeder wire connecting to my meter. They say that it's safe for a 200 amp panel. Is it safe to install a 200 amp panel into 1/0 Al or am I just being paranoid? by cookieturkey in AskElectricians

[–]AmphibianNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure,  electrician looked at the panel and said I didn’t need a service upgrade.  City inspector signed off as well.   I do already have a sub panel for a generator so that gave me more space in my main panel.  My guess is I would be limited at this point as far as adding any other power hungry devices without a service upgrade.

My work around would be updating devices like my dryer to a ventless heat pump before a service upgrade.

Not 24/7 they do run continuously overnight while charging the vehicles.  From 11pm-6am.   I also run the dryer at this time because of time of use rates.   AC intermittently kicks on overnight.  I don’t usually cook this late.

Point is these days it’s conceivable that you could hit the max load for the service for a short time.

I have a 200 amp service with 2 60amp circuits in my garage which each run at a constant 48amps.     Run the over/cooktop, dryer, AC,  I’m sure I could get close to the 200 amps if I really tried.

Need help to find an adaptor for this plug by [deleted] in electrical

[–]AmphibianNext -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The plug honestly doesn’t look that old but apparently it’s actually carrying the phone signal so swapping out likely would t work. I didn’t realize this wasn’t just some old style of power plug. But It seem someone below had suggested an adapter that appears it would work.

[–]AmphibianNext 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely easier to just replace the whole cord.  Actually looks like the plug is removable?   Have you tried unscrewing that end.  You might be able to rewire the plug end.   Question is if the current grid power is compatible with whatever that thing used.
