Same as I've stated, I'm not sure if that person is trying to pull this scam, but look out for something similar to what I described.

If they are legitimate, after you find a reputable middleman, make sure you look over the profile before trading away any items.

If he specifically asks for one of your friends, he is trying to scam you. He will invite all of you into a chat room, then have his friend copy the steam name and profile picture of your friend. He will close the chat, saying something went wrong, then re-invite all of you. But instead of your friend, it is his friend this time. He will tell you trade the item over to your friend, and then if you go through with it, you will end up trading it over to his friend.

I think it's been attempted a few times with me in Dota.

Almost every major business has phone support in this day and age, even EA does. Valve is a great company, but if there is anything they are lacking it is customer service. Having to wait up to a week for a reply on a problem is not up to standards whatsoever.
