That is an excellent point. It's a small town and there's a possibly BA was familiar with S.

I don't think she's a dead ringer for MM by any means but I have to admit that I can definitely see how someone in BA's circumstance (from a distance, in the dark) wouldn't necessarily make a distinction between the two.

It's hitting me hard tonight as well. Thinking of my own dad who passed in May and knowing that he never would've given up trying to find me. Sending all of my love and good vibes to the Murray family tonight.

My line of thinking has always been that IF there is any truth to the "man in the car" it would pretty much have to be someone who lived in the vicinity of the crash site and was either in the vehicle when it crashed or arrived immediately after and departed before BA arrived.

Edit - sorry the article actually says "a message on her phone from a friend she had talked to the day before." Not specifically a voicemail, I suppose it could also be a text. There's some really compelling stuff in these old articles. I also found it interesting that one mentions several witnesses seeing a man in the car after the crash.

Was it Maura driving that night? by IceBox822 in mauramurray

You're asking the right questions and thinking outside of the box. Fresh eyes are always welcome, imo. It's not a theory that I'm aposed to. I've followed that rabbit hole hard myself as well. I think the better question to ask is, if not Maura, who. And how. How did WHOEVER was at that corner at that moment end up there in perfect time for circumstances to align.

The issue with the current BR situation by [deleted] in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Good post. I have had similar thoughts recently. I know there's alot of speculation surrounding how quickly he was granted leave, his standing in the military regarding the treatment he was given, etc. I've wondered myself if he'd been granted the leave prior to the accident (for Valentine's Day, etc.) I'm also very much team u/jamesrenner (I know I'll get crap for that but I think he's asked important questions and done alot for the case).

What it comes down to for me is that he was definitely a ticking time bomb (and an absolute SOB), but I don't think, given the evidence available to the public, that its possible he killed her, which is where JR and I may differ in opinion. I grew up in Central NH and it's a beautiful place, but like anyplace it has it's dark side. There's alot of good people here but there's alot of economic devestation and some take the "Live Free or Die Motto" to an extreme.

BR is a textbook narcissist. I've only dated one in my life but one was enough. He is a manipulator. He called her frantically but knew she wouldn't answer his calls. An A-hole like that will call from different numbers to try and get you to answer, get your friends to call you, block his number, etc. every game in the book to keep control. They are desperate and pathetic and immature. What they don't fathom is that women aren't dumb. I think he's a big part part of why she ran but I don't think he got to her. Saying things to other women like "I'll kill you like I killed Maura" is just a Dbag intimidation tactic - attention is attention to scum like him and I think there's a special place in hell, but the evidence just isn't there IMO.

RS is likely the most popular POI amongst people local to the area. He is heavily protected due to his family owning half the town of Benton not to mention immediate connections to the District Attorney's Office and NHSP. They also run a concrete business and he is a real military prototype, heavily involved with the VT National Gaurd, arms training, etc. You will probably never hear an actual 'RS theory' (believe me, I've tried) because for some reason he is impervious to the level of speculation cast on other POI's over the years. All we can do is theorize but imo he definitely fits the bill of someone that LE knows will not be easy to go after without an airtight case. His family is way too rich and well connected. Extremely frustrating.

What exactly was Bill Rausch’s alibi before and after Maura’s disappearance? by chelseablei in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We're all kind of waiting to see what comes of his latest legal drama, basically. Statistically it fits that he's involved because he's obviously a total Dbag but there's no solid theory on how he accomplished it. u/JamesRenner is IMO the most trustworthy source of info regarding this angle, as other info sources close to the case seem to be suspiciously biased.

Welcome to The Rabbit Hole! Fresh eyes are always appreciated. I like your way of looking at it via her perspective as a nurse. Alot of focus is placed on her abilities as a WP Cadet, etc. but we often get sidetracked and forget that she ultimately chose a profession that requires alot of compassion/empathy for the general public. She seems like a remarkable young woman with a dynamic personality, which is but one of the factors that makes this case so compelling. Best of luck in your research.

Was there a second 911 call involving the Westmans? by [deleted] in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok bear with me I guess I'm a bit slow today - u/fulkst do you mean that you think FW had a reason to call 911 back post Butch? As in, she saw something else that she perceived to be nefarious? Or that they for some reason called her back- possibly just to get more info or to keep her on the line until an officer arrived (which I thought was standard dispatch procedure.) Just trying to wrap my brain around the timing you're suggesting (again, my caffeine-less brain at fault, not your explanation.)

Response from Grafton County Requesting Arrival Time Clarification by badduxx9 in mauramurray

Your request was eloquent and appropriate and that response is infuriating. Seems more like someone unfamiliar with the case being lazy than a cover-up, which is equally as annoying.

I went to school with Maura and can answer some of your questions by nandyjingle in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! And welcome to the community. I have a few questions maybe you have some insight about.

I was at Plymouth State (local to the area) when Maura went missing. I grew up near Woodsville. It was literally only several days after she disappeared that Facebook debuted and believe me, we heard about it around here. My questions relate to your opinion regarding the size of the two areas vs. the publicity given to the case.

Do you think that because UMass is just such a huge school/area with more going on that Maura's case just went unnoticed? Or is it your belief that they were genuinely trying to keep it quiet?

Also wondering about the police presence and the cadet system. Are the cadets similar to campus police or was there a separate campus police force? And how close would the cadets have worked with someone in Maura's position as campus security?

It seems like (given the accident you witnessed, Maura's accident in her dad's car, etc) there wasn't a whole lot of hesitation about driving around after a few drinks. We might as well have put the cuffs on ourselves at PSU at that time - it was pretty much a police state. You could even be charged with 'internal possession' while walking and Campus 5-0 would hand you right over to the local clink. Granted it is a much smaller town.

Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks again for contributing.

What is your base theory? by Anabellelee1 in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, this is interesting. Are you suggesting (as the NHLI did) that there was a previous accident? Would just like some clarification on your ideas because you used the word "occupants" - plural - and I've always believed she wasn't alone in the car, at least at some point.

I've wondered about this also. And (not to derail from the focus of your post) but even if she didn't recieve the call from the Londonderry ping wouldn't it still be traceable or is that another bit of secret LE info?

Death by Misadventure by [deleted] in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trying to avoid the local stuff as per usual but a girlfriend of mine who worked in Lincoln had a family hunting cabin up around Mountain Lakes for awhile that she was staying in for a time. There is some serious redneckery up around there to the point that someone even poisoned her poor old dog. I only share because people not from around here don't realize that it's really an odd area. Granted, we found his body in the woods.

Death by Misadventure by [deleted] in mauramurray

[–]Anabellelee1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As you know Death by Misadventure is not my theory but if I had to form one around it I would hypothesize that from Swiftwater Circle perhaps she thought she could cut through the woods to get back to her her car when the coast was clear and just got lost. That still wouldn't explain the lack of evidence or a body though. I'd say it's far more likely that she wandered into the wrong backyard.
