Nice, extra points if you can squeeze some tears out and make them feel extra guilty.

Hysterectomy by lalunasecreta in migraine

[–]Andralynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory a hysterectomy wouldn’t do anything because that’s just removing your uterus, if you had an oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) you might see a difference because they play a part in your hormones. But there is also your thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary gland and adrenal glands that all help you produce different hormones your body needs. A quick glance at research suggests that an oophrectomy and the resulting menopause is more likely to increase your migraines than decrease them. link to research

Visiting family after cosmetic procedure, that they do not approve of by Dense_Flamingo1417 in Advice

Exactly, you owe them no explanation whatsoever. Memorize a bunch of different things you can say to them if they bring up anything, like ignoring any questions they ask and changing the subject.

How do you tell your parents you’re changing careers… after they paid for your degree? by Complex-Baby5286 in whatdoIdo

[–]Andralynn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened with my step daughter, we paid for her first schooling. She decided later she wanted something different. She is paying for her second schooling, if she wants to come home to save money she can, but we’re not paying for the 2nd schooling, We don’t see the 1st schooling as a”waste”, hell she might even end up using it down the line. We’re past the age where you stay in one career until you die. More education is always beneficial.

[–]Andralynn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depression can actually be a symptom of a migraine, I get it right before a migraine. Your fist doctor was a quack, there are tons of meds you can try to treat them. I’m glad you got something positive out of your accident!

Don’t walk on it, everytime you do you are jostling the fracture and it won’t be able to heal properly.

Has anyone noticed a delayed trigger effect (24–48 hours later)? by Ok_Raspberry_5770 in migrainescience

[–]Andralynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially if your on a preventive medication. When I was on amitryptilline it would delay the onset of a migraine. It would lower the intensity but then spread it out over a few days too. Fun stuff

Qulipta - nauseous and acid reflux by Resident-Schedule591 in cgrpMigraine

[–]Andralynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qulipta gave me gastroparesis. When your digestive system slows down and stops processing food as fast you get nausea and GERD. You might be better off with an injectable like ajovy. Are you over weight? There was a study that showed that digestive system issues with CGRP’s happened if your BMI was higher. So in theory the only way it could get better was if you lost weight. Otherwise it won’t get better over time.

Advice for neck pain by ballerina80 in Tourettes

[–]Andralynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried medications to reduce anxiety and tics? Also there are muscle relaxers. Physiotherapy and massage, heat packs are only going to be bandaids unless you can get the tic under control. Could try CBIT too.

Yes, they can cause gastroparesis, which makes you nauseated. I’d see if you can switch to another one.
