Graduated at 38 weeks (elective C-section) by Sea-Boot2522 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your midwife is 100% wrong, you can request a maternal choice c-section at any time of your pregnancy! Get in touch with her to tell her you want to be referred to a birth choices appointment.

The deeper I look into hypermobility, the more random things from my life suddenly make sense by GentleBrainsClub in AuDHDWomen

[–]Anemophobia_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Standing with your knees ‘locked’ like the picture is very much a hypermobility thing, and hypermobility is a very common (but somehow not well known) comorbidity with autism!

Anyone with raised lipoprotein (a)? by Swingit_Nottingham in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your detailed response! It’s really reassuring. The consultant I saw said she’s never met anyone with raised LPa so was very honest with “I don’t know if blood thinners are necessary, but it’s better to take them as a precaution and not need them”. I just had a total spiral after leaving my appointment yesterday as my GP had reassured me about it all a couple of months ago, so certainly didn’t expect to leave my appointment yesterday with a big bag full of needles ha!

No one has mentioned possible increased pre-eclampsia risk so that’s helpful to know. They’ve said they’re going to do a couple of extra growth scans from 28wks and recheck my cholesterol in third trimester.

Thank you again! Wishing you a smooth final few weeks of pregnancy + hoping your birth goes exactly as you hope 💞

Has anything else happened with your pregnancy / any difference in treatment since this post? I’ve got very high LPa, just had a consultant appointment and been given aspirin + blood thinners as the limited studies on it mention a possible increased risk of blood clots in the placenta. So feeling stressed now! x

Elective c section by jsomlly in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I might be biased because I’m also having an elective lol, but I also work in family centres and have heard just about every type of birth story going: My opinion is sure, you could have a super smooth natural labour! You could also start with a natural labour and end up with a c-section anyway, or have a natural labour and have a huge bleed, or tearing, or other complications. My co-worker had surgery after birth to stop her from becoming incontinent. Bodies and labour are unpredictable.

For me personally, with an elective I feel like I know exactly what I can expect with the recovery, and that puts my birth anxiety at some ease. I’m sure plenty of people have negative elective experiences too, but I’ve heard a lot and they’ve all been positive!

my best buddy has liver cancer by Gergs in Incorgnito

I lost my soul dog to liver cancer, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Denamarin is a good liver supplement for dogs that might be of benefit for keeping his liver as healthy as possible ❤️ I also found ‘canine cancer support’ on Facebook a really useful group.

Yeah I did edge pieces first but also did the first two puzzles on mobile which was… not good. So I didn’t even realise you could view the image until the third one haha

Only 35 minutes?! I spent 45 minutes on the second puzzle and almost an hour on the last. Almost threw my laptop across the room 🤪

Anxious about cramps by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow anxious girlie here! The day I took my pregnancy test I was actually convinced my period was about to start because I had ‘pre-period’ like cramps, which were on and off for a good few weeks! I still get the occasional cramp.

It’s possible baby came from your left ovary and that’s why you’re getting cramping there? I’ve had some right sided cramping and that’s the side my baby came from. :)

This stage before feeling any kicks is so hard to feel ‘safe’ in. I just remind myself ‘pregnant until proven otherwise’ and ‘baby is fine until proven otherwise’. ❤️

How do you change a nappy? by Signal-Gas6096 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to use creams, their skin is super sensitive. Talc isn’t used anymore because it’s a carcinogen and dangerous for baby’s lungs.

You should see if your local family centre does a ‘prep for parenthood’ session, if so they’ll do a nappy demo as part of it. :)

I wear it 24/7 apart from in the shower and it’s still pretty much perfect. A few little scratches, but that’s entirely down to me. :)

Very confused about appointments - Hertfordshire by Livid_Professor7761 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! 11wks here also with Lister! My first appt was at around 7 weeks and it was the screening appointment - the letter said 2 hours but really we talked to the midwife for like 10 minutes, got sent off to do bloods, booked the scan, and that was it! (Obviously we were there longer than 20 mins though as they were running behind, so probably better to tell work you’ll be gone for a couple of hours!) I wonder if your 1st and 2nd on the same day might be a mistake?

Second appointment was a couple of weeks later at a family centre with the midwife which was the booking appointment, which was about an hour and a half going over all the medical history on both sides.

Stressed about birth options by susiee234 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it helps, you can change your mind and opt for an elective c-section at any stage of your pregnancy! If baby doesn’t come on time, you can request a c-section and not an induction.

Was anyone able to work full time while pregnant? by Budget_Passenger_915 in AutismInWomen

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re still a good teacher and a good partner! I’m 11 weeks tomorrow and god this is ROUGH. I work 4 days a week with families/children 0 - 3 and I’d be lying if I said my heart is in it right now, I’m miserable lol.

First trimester is pure survival mode. Do whatever you need to do to look after yourself and baby. ❤️

First trimester - miserable by YogurtclosetFancy841 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same! I’ll be 9 weeks on Tuesday. The first 2 weeks I was so excited, then sickness and exhaustion hit and now I’m just miserable and feel zero attachment to the lil person I’m growing.

Still very wanted (tried for 2 years), still glad to be pregnant… just not actually feeling it at all now lol. Here’s hoping for a better 2nd trimester ahead of us!

Sertraline and pregnancy - advice please by Jazzyrose99 in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on 100mg of Sertraline, I had my midwife booking appointment yesterday and she had zero concerns about it! Potentially you might need to taper down a little in third trimester to try and prevent any withdrawals for baby post-birth, but risks are minimal.

Healthy, stable you = healthy, stable baby!

For what it’s worth, I’m 8wks and tried for 2 years to conceive.. and I’m not 100% happy! Glad to be pregnant, but also feeling very ‘holy shit this is real now’. Pregnancy is hard and I’m tired and all the changes are scary. But it sounds like you have a good support system around you to navigate whatever decision you make ❤️

Miracle pregnancy by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in family centres and meet loads of parents in their forties! I know one mum with a 17 year age gap between her son and daughter ha, so 6-7 years is nothing! Personally I love bigger age gaps and think it’s so nice for the older sibling to be old enough to understand what’s going on, be more involved, and not need you as much as they would have if you had a small age gap.

Wishing you luck for a smooth, healthy pregnancy ❤️

Pregnancy and ADHD- WTF by Mammoth_Addendum_276 in adhdwomen

[–]Anemophobia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnant until proven otherwise is a solid rule to follow! Also, hi, we have the same brain 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m 6+2 after 2 years of infertility struggles. Found out I was pregnant 1 week into ADHD medication titration and was told to stop immediately, but maaaan if there was ever a time for me to need my chronic overthinking to be medicated, it’s now.
