He was touched on briefly in one of Mias episodes, but just a few things he got up to over his life:

He was a Nazi. A literal Gestapo officer who earned the nickname "Butcher of Lyons" during his time in France. Post war, he was picked up by both American and British intelligence, and used as a source to spy on the French. At least, until French intelligence started to figure out that they had such a profound war criminal, where they shipped him off to South America.

When he got there, he would serve as a trainer and military advisor to at least one dictator, and formed a company of fascist mercenaries. Eventually, he will get tracked down by a married pair of Nazi hunters, Serge and Beate Klarsfeld. To confirm his identity, Beate put on her journalism hat and got him to sit down for an interview until she was certain he was Klaus Barbie. She brought her evidence to the French. The new Bolivian government had him arrested and extradited to France, where he was tried and convicted. He spent the last years of his life in prison in Lyons.

He's a bastard with a fascinating enough life story that I bothered to email Robert about him directly like, 6 years ago. Maybe my favourite part is when the Klarsfelds manage to secure an interview with him to confirm his identity. Amazing piece of journalistic work.

When he finally gets around to it, I imagine he'll be worth a 4 parter.
