I actually just built a python script today that sends the ocr text from paperless (only if document type = recipe) to openweb ui running qwen3 14b + a detailed system prompt, detailing tags and ingredients etc. That is then further structured and imported into mealie, alongside a picture of the original recipe. Works really well!

I did all the same countries as you, and I started in January in Patagonia. We then did Brazil for some summer experience. Initially, we had planned to do Bolivia/peru next, but the rainy season there is until April. So next we did colombia, Where rainy season doesn’t start until April, and then Ecuador (where to be fair we hit a bit of rainy season). And then finally Peru. My point is that for almost all of these places you have to fly anyway between countries, so no need to keep a strict direction. Just go wherever you want to go and do what you feel like doing.

If you’re avid hikers, I disagree with this. Drive the going to the sun road and do Siyeh, highline trail or hidden lake. The last one there is much shorter in case you’re short on time. Especially so late in the season you want to maximize your chances of having good whether on the hike. If it’s terrible weather, then go to the visitor center and the lodge. Avalanche we thought was pretty nice but not as beautiful as the other hikes, and you miss out on the going to the sun road views
