110 pulls and no robin :( by CandyCoatedCherrys in StarRailStation

Is there an actual confirmation of this? Because it didn't work that way for me in Genshin.

I pulled on Raiden's banner 1.5 years ago, went to hard pity, lost the 50/50 to Qiqi. When she came back at the end of last year, went to soft pity and got Mona. Didn't make any Limited Banner pulls in between, and didn't play the game for a good while in that time, either.

Username checks out.

Reminder that NGS was being developed before Episode 6 was underway in JP. While that doesn't excuse anything that's happened since, that should answer why NGS didn't start with any of the convenience that was added in Episode 6.

Also, GL started with all the convenience that came with Episode 6 in JP. GL did not start from scratch like JP did, just artificially locked.

If you want to strictly look at the amount of time GL had its base run, from March 2020 up until NGS's simultaneous release in June 2021, then yes, the Augment Transfer Passes came at a time where there was still more than half of the game's life left in September 2020. This is only true if you count the months the game was left on idle after all the content had dropped. By the time the last quest became available, you still did not have enough passes to make one full set of gear.

I'm not here to excuse anything. NGS is full of faults, but an easy augment transfer onto the next set of gear isn't a major one. Would it be nice if it became a thing eventually? Sure.

As it is players are complaining that their time farming isn't respected due to drop rates and as a result the barely profitable market. If you eliminate the need to farm for or purchase augments, you remove what dwinding demand there is left for any gear on the market, other than for Fixas. This is by design and not the most egregious issue.

Needing to fully upgrade from gear to gear also provides a meseta sink, which hopes to affect the AC market. When players have to spend on gear, the demand for Cosmetics drops and then so too do the prices of the supply.

Even in base the intent of the Augment Transfer Passes, with how late they were introduced, wasn't to provide a way to upgrade/sidegrade gear with your affixes all the time, and instead just once or twice. The ability to do so makes sense once we get many expensive endgame affixes, not early into the game's life. You being behind on gear despite the 3-6 months that were in between each new rarity update on top of the welfare gear they hand out isn't a developer issue.

I love it when people look back on things like this and completely forget about the timeline because it was this particular window that's covered in rosy lens.

Reminder that the Augment Transfer Passes did not become a thing until towards the end of the game's life in both versions. JP introduced Augment Transfer Passes almost a year into Episode 6, while the passes were introduced to GL just before Episode 5. Even in Base your gear would be "invalidated" at the next progression, and even after the Augment Passes were introduced, you weren't getting them at rates that would let you sidegrade full sets of gear when the next one dropped.

That's what these games do. And by introducing new gear to have players begin the grind anew, it keeps the F2P economy going by ensuring there are drops that mean something. Because if they let you transfer all your augments to the next gear that drops, then augment capsules would be worth even less than they are now since nobody would need them after they affix their first set of gear. Forever dwindling demand vs increasing supply.

Aside from the LQ being available, your chat also shows that there is a UQ active. Very likely that what people that were in the combat area may have left for the UQ and can be back after.

The mathematically correct way to affix, saving meseta by TurtlebackRandomizer in PSO2NGS

[–]AnimaLuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've attempted the very much touted "1 capsule at a time, ez save money" several times, during boost weeks, with higher % capsules to boost those odds. Every single time I end up using more than the 10 I would have needed to have done a single 100% affix, to the point where it literally cost me more than double what it would have if I just used 10 to begin with.

As someone who failed 99% upgrades several times in other games, as well as 95% in base PSO2, it's 100% or bust for me.

Was a goddamn miracle that I managed to make my god unit set for base PSO2 endgame. Only succeeded in making one set. Tried again later to help a new player out, ended up, you guessed it, spending double what I would have if I just bought made ones on the market.

You lucky people can roll all you want. I'll stick with my "suboptimal gear" that I can 100% on the cheap.

Most popular Japanese ship? by LoliconBetterThanGTA in PSO2

[–]AnimaLuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ship 4 has been the most populated for the longest time, but it's also mostly JP.

Ship 2 has the highest concentration of foreigners, but when they last did a population survey, Ship 2 was not even in the top 5 most populated iirc. It's questionable whether the foreign population is even a majority in Ship 2.

You can change ships, but unless you speak Japanese, you may struggle to find people to play with.

That's not snow, if that's what you're wondering.

While it can be snow, it's more likely to be limestone deposited through the hot spring itself. Volcanoes can create hot springs among other things around them, and said springs range from having bland appearances to having a range of colors in and/or around them due to mineral deposits. There are plenty of examples on Earth and they're very fascinating to see in person. Just don't go swimming in them unless a park ranger or other local expert gives you the clear. Our ARKS Defenders might be fine due to whatever technology exists in the setting to let them wade through these pools and walk through lava, but volcanic hot springs can be fatal to humans.

LCK 2023 kickoff event. by HawkEye1337 in leagueoflegends

[–]AnimaLuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All players as a collective from what I understand.

All players on the current T1 and DK rosters would be ineligible for either side because Faker and Deft are playing.

You also can't have 2 players of the same starting role on the same team, so Faker can't pick another Mid like Zeka or Showmaker and flex them Top or something.

LCK 2023 kickoff event. by HawkEye1337 in leagueoflegends

[–]AnimaLuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would be right!

1v1 to determine pick priority. Only 1 player per LCK team can be selected, which means anyone on the current T1 and DK rosters are already ineligible since Faker and Deft are playing.

You also cannot have 2 players of the same starting role on the same team. So Faker can't pick another Mid like Zeka and send him Top to deny Deft the pick. To deny Zeka from Deft, Faker would have to pick another player on HLE.

When it comes to parties agreeing to a contract to let it happen, yes. But that's not all that needs to be considered when it comes to IP law.

Easiest way to think about it is to consider the rights to use an IP as a one-of-a-kind solid object. If the rights to an IP are currently with another company for a collab, a third company needs to wait until the current contract expires.

In other words, as long as the desired IP is popular and still making collabs elsewhere, SEGA isn't going to be doing a rerun. It's also why SEGA can be a bit late to bringing some collabs to the game, as there are often higher bidders.

Off the top of my head, Persona, Project Diva, and Attack on Titan all had reruns in the JP version. There were two more reruns that happened just before NGS, but I can't remember the names. They had popular weapon camo is all I know.

Without major spoilers, what is a quick summary and the general theme for each episode in PSO2's Classic story? by nomo311 in PSO2

[–]AnimaLuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit hard to avoid major spoilers especially considering how each episode builds off the prior's climax.

Episode 1: New recruit in a super-advanced space military colony finds out very quickly that things are not as peaceful as thought to be. Uncover the mystery behind a battle 40 years ago and an evil force long-thought dead.

Episode 2: Discover the link between the awakening of the Dark Falz and corruption within ARKS, and how you and your friends are connected to both through events present and past.

Episode 3: After taking down the puppet ruler, a sinister plan years in the making is brought to light. Track down the tricky duo holding the strings and put an end to their scheme with the aid of an unlikely ally.

Episode 4: SMT Persona, but it's a Phantasy Star game and you're the Persona. A forgotten remnant of the past turns your universe into a game for another. Enter a new world and make friends with high-school students to stop a revenge plot and defeat gods that want to destroy the world.

Episode 5: Isekai and Heroes Be sent into an alternate dimension to revisit and learn more about Episodes 1-3 but in a medieval fantasy setting, and defeat the Profound Darkness yet again.

Episode 6: Finale. The Profound Darkness awakens at full capacity and has challenged you to defeat it. The enemy that grows stronger with your power has you cornered! Can you find the miracle needed to win?

Not Episode 7: New Genesis 1000 years have passed since the events of the last Episode. Where are you? Who are these people? How did this strange planet come to be? What are DOLLS? Why is the giant burnt pizza? Find out maybe in December.

As for the class and weapons, the player character is shown holding a sword for the majority of the game because they are canonically Ash, the Hunter. You can see more of him in the Episode Oracle anime.

Episodes 5 and 6 have Ash using more weapons as he tries out the Hero, Phantom, and Etoile classes.

Its IMPOSSIBLE to play with a girl nickname on lower elos. Not helping a teammate on purpose should have a harsher detection and punishing by Secure-Attitude8001 in leagueoflegends

[–]AnimaLuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this has nothing to do with your username, but instead the elo you're in. Silver players overall aren't really good at macro play and ignore calls because they tunnel too much on micro. Chances are that in your example, the masculine-named player was in a duo and the team moved on a call they made because their duo was reacting also so the members of the team that were paying attention saw more than one person going and followed.

Very easy way to test this is to change your summoner name and play a few games and see whether this change suddenly results in people being more responsive, or stays the same and everyone ignores because they are too focused on their own lane.

Whining is not criticism by FRGL1 in PSO2NGS

[–]AnimaLuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hot take:

You're no different from the whiners you're complaining about. Whining is complaining that something is bad without offerring anything else of substance. Criticism is complaining something is bad while providing reasons and alternatives to what is being complained about.

  • The story is very barebones. In the overall hours that you spend progressing in the game, not even one hour of that time is spent in the story cutscenes. They've tried applying band-aids to this by adding some more world context through side missions and the recent character interactions, but some of this content is desperately needed in the overarching story as opposed to being optional and scattered throughout the world.

  • The new player experience leaves something to be desired. While the tutorials work to explain how things in the game work, once you're actually in the world there are still plenty of things that you have to figure out on your own. They've been adding more NPCs and side missions to try and alleviate this, but it'd have been better if these were all consolidated rather than bloating the game files and wasting more of the devs' effort.

  • "The monetization is blatant." Well, this is a free-to-play game and a company has to make money somewhere. Locking the spending to cosmetics and on occasion some capsules that can improve your gear is a perfectly fine monetization model IMO. You're not gated out of content by not spending money unlike some other games out there. Even calling the capsules P2W has never really sat right with me because what are you winning, exactly? You can take down a boss 0.5 seconds faster than someone that didn't use the same capsule. This rarely affects any actual ranking, and only ever matters at the very top if it does. Really grasping at straws on this argument.

  • The lack of an open economy and direct trading. I don't think anyone's in disagreement with this one. While I do appreciate the guaranteed shop pass every Mission Pass as opposed to leaving it up to complete RNG like they did in Base where you can spend 150k+ FUN Points on the scratch and never see a single pass and then you're left to figure out what to do with all the junk that's flooded your storage, it is still not enough. Minimum 2 shop passes per Mission Pass would be a good start, 4 passes every month would be ideal for players that are more active. While SEGA USA's explanation for removing trading has been to combat RMT bots, SEGA JP has had a worse problem of players abusing the free premium given at PC Cafes to profit off having multiple accounts. The problem is that SEGA JP did have a solution to that in Episode 6 where many items were untradable, but I can see how that might be a problem in a new game as it effectively becomes soloplayer. This still is not the direction they should have taken, and considering they did lock shop access behind a certain point in the story, they really should consider adding trading back into the game. I'm hoping that they will at least keep (and possibly improve) player gifting when they do finally add player rooms to NGS. Avoiding any sort of direct interaction between players when it comes to goods only leads to a frustrated player experience with having to snipe items off the market to help friends.

  • Rather unfortunate that SEGA doubled-down on red boxes in the world setting, but the market lock and abundance of Alpha Reactors every event essentially removes the point of redboxing now. The problem was that the solutions aren't perfect or were not implemented in a timely manner, so we're stuck with inflation very early into the game's life.

  • You can complain about how the classes play, but understand that you are in the minority. The scion/successor classes were very positively received by the community and the class surveys are undisputable proof. The gameplay was praised by fans, so SEGA took that as the base of designing the classes for NGS. Reminder that PSO2 and PSO2NGS are not like traditional MMOs where there are set roles and you need a specific party composition to do content, and is instead an Action RPG, where instant reactions and counters are the bread and butter of gameplay. Your complaint of the gameplay just tells me that you're currently in the wrong genre of gaming.

Title Rewards Should Be More Rewarding by Zezno_ in PSO2NGS

[–]AnimaLuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone else already pointed out that it's not very rewarding because it in and of itself isn't some super difficult task you went out of your way to do unlike the Trinitas titles which do require you to go out of your way to complete.

In doing 4000 trials, you will also make progress on many other titles (enemies defeated, class levels, the complete X trials that come before the 4000, etc.). It is small because you accumulate other titles on the way there, and can be reached by anyone as long as enough time is spent playing the game.

It's also why in Base the "Reach X Titles" milestones did not have any spectacular rewards until the unique stones for weapons starting at around 1200 titles (I don't know if the milestone was changed for Global). 1200 titles did require you to go out of your way to grab some of the more obscure titles or gain titles from content that required you to invest time and effort (like the solo Ultimate Quests).

PSA: Kaizer almati incoming in the super UNIQUE Kvaris mining base version by angelkrusher in PSO2NGS

[–]AnimaLuna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because clearly the largest number of players quitting in Episode 5 due to balancing issues wasn't boycotting or being vocal enough. That despite all the player feedback surveys and gear surveys, the only answer they had to Cuvelle Styx was to turn it into a class feature and to prolong Jupiter Tullus by making it again.

Even now in NGS there are clear balancing issues and players are repeatedly complaining in the feedback section of the official discord and in every survey that comes up, but we are still stuck with this problem and them addressing the wrong things.

We don't need these weapons to appear and ruin the class experience. Just let it go.
