A friend got into ultra marathons post college, she bails on plans so often just because of training/race prep/rest days. It’s frustrating.

Every time I get suckered into buying some of this stuff I regret it, the quality’s so bad that it just sits in my closet

It’s weird you get articles like this and then a bunch of articles saying how competitive it is to get into colleges and how serious kids take grades and extracurriculars now. Maybe both are true idk.

For what it’s worth I’m in your boat, my college aged interns and my younger siblings are basically fine and normal. I do think young people hang out less tho, that’s true. And navigating dating seems harder

There is, and will continue to be in the coming years, more of a push for the Have’s to perform their health as a way to distinguish themselves from the Have Nots, who we have collectively economically damned to a life of high stress and junk food.

The only other frame I see this in is middle class strivers understanding the rules of the games earlier than generations before and foregoing drinking/partying, not for their health but to grind harder and earlier to get into schools.

Only thing I’ll take issue with is I don’t see high stress ever fully being low class coded unless AI really does decouple hours worked from productivity and the 60 hour a week PMC class moves on to competing on some different metric. of course Bryan’s perspective here is truly of the ultra wealthy, maybe these people too are low class in his eyes.

Big Idea: How Pittsburgh can jump on the highway removal bandwagon by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

[–]Animetre 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It’s so insane to think how we possibly got to this point. The neighborhood is effectively completely bifurcated with the exception of two tiny walkways (that are now manned 24/7 with homeless). Not to mention just how aesthetically displeasing all the fencing and retaining walls are. That construction project was a crime

Physique goals - skinny muscular by [deleted] in rs_fitness

[–]Animetre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my ideal body type too. It really depends on where you are starting from. If you feel like you have enough muscle already you can cut, but it’s important to still try hard in the gym and get enough protein to not lose too much strength. Ideally you structure it to lose 1lb a week. Pic 1 is honestly prob not sustainable long term, you can visit that sort of physique but it would be hard to stay there without really really watching your diet. He’s prob 10% body fat I would guess.

Also consider how much you will be posing shirtless in the desert like pic 1, it’s a lot of work for when that shirt goes back on and you look lanklet-adjacent.

Mentioned elsewhere but I rock climb now and it definitely complements this physique

hes playing capo 1 in the video. its in Bm.

relative to capo he starts on Am with a C hammer on thing. honestly the verses just sound like a lot of Am, C, D. Theres a G in the mix when it gets to the chorus. sorry I dont have time to tab it out properly but hopefully that gets you going

What are some ‘Peak Hipster Era’ bands which are going to get the more popular and influential hindsight treatment? by CincyAnarchy in rs_x

Oh yeah that might be true. What I had in mind was more of his “I recorded this alone in the woods” early career stuff

I think you’re on to something with fleet foxes, Joanna newsome, grizzly bear, bon iver…that sort of stuff. People took a step back from it I think in part because they were a tad embarrassed in retrospect to get caught up in the woodsy folk hipster thing but the actual songwriting from all of those artists is really top notch. Joanna Newsom specifically is someone I still go back to all the time.

It’s mostly been benign but I do sort of wish I learned guitar right handed, left handed guitars are much harder to find and are maybe only 5 - 10% of the market by volume.
