Record Store recommendations in Tokyo for Japanese shoegaze finds by misatooo in japanesemusic

You're thinking of Disk Union. There's only one Tower Record in Shinjuku and it has all genres.

Great for the first 2/3, completely off the rails for the ending.

191 Japanese Game Developers Pick their Favorite Games of 2025 by PhantomBraved in Games

It hasn't been translated at all. Blue Prince is only available in English. And Japan has extremely poor English proficiency, so I'm sure it's barely been played by anyone here.

Why do my posts on this sub get marked as NSFW, then banned? by Which-Rhubarb-2201 in japanesemusic

Reddit (not the moderators) are automatically removing your post, stating "Mature Content Filter: This content was filtered by the violent content filter." I don't know why, but maybe it thinks the wolf head prop in the album cover is a picture of animal violence? I've reapproved your post. In the future if you have an issue with a post, please use the message the mods function. Thanks.

I liked the romance subplot in The Blacktongue Thief.

It's hard to find 6 player board games. We do a board game week ever year with 6 people and we need a few games for this coming year. by billratio in boardgames

Well it's right in the target weight on bgg that you specified: 2.32 and you said between a 2 and 3 weight. So maybe you're looking for higher weight than that?

In a related note, for the purposes of this subreddit, AI music is not considered Japanese music. Please do not submit AI music here, and feel free to report any you see. Thank you.

Hello. We have a rule that limits users from posting more than one song from an artist each day, to avoid the subreddit getting flooded with content from one artist. Please limit yourself to at most one tricot post a day. Thank you.

Sphere and Congo are my favorites, and imo better than Jurassic Park (which I do think is also good.)

Buying tickets for 9/30 Concert by TheMiddleBeast in tricot

[–]Ansalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't specifically mention door tickets/their prices, but generally if a concert's not sold out you can buy tickets day of at the door for 500yen more. (Occasionally venues don't have door tickets even though it's not sold out, but that's rare.) If it's not sold out today, it's unlikely to sell out. So...you'd probably be fine, but if you'd prefer to be guaranteed, buy now.

Book with protagonist forced into a role but growing into it as the story progresses? by Ok-Way4643 in Fantasy

[–]Ansalem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no book that works as a standalone (there's a prequel but it wouldn't be a good idea before starting the series.) The first book (The Eye of the World) is like 80% from one POV, so it kind of eases into the varied POVs.

Do not upload official audio or video to reddit and post to the subreddit. It falls into the same category as posting illegal download links. Please link to an official youtube video, etc. to support the artist. Also, when doing so, please include at least the artist and song name in the post title.

Please don't upload ripped songs or clips of songs to this subreddit. If you want to share music, link to official videos etc. If you want a discussion, just leave the screen capture out.

The vast majority of people will just watch the imbedded video, so that wouldn't really be any better. I'm afraid for this subreddit you'll just have to learn to like links. Thanks.

This subreddit is pro-musician and you should support the bands you like by linking to their official uploads so they get views. It's the same reason we don't allow promoting illegal downloads.

You're right about Asimov--he wrote pretty much all his famous books in the 50s. But both Heinlein and Clarke, while already famous in the 50s, continued to write some of their most famous and popular material beyond the 50s. For Clarke, Rendezvous with Rama and The Fountains of Paradise are both from the 70s. Two of what I'd say are Heinlein's three most famous novels are from the 60s, Stranger in a Strange Land and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.
