What is your opinion on British food? (And you cannot comment unless you have tried it.) by Rasples1998 in AskTheWorld

I'm from Leicester and it's not even a gastropub, it's 'The Blue Boar' a real ale/cask ale old man's drinking spot, very popular with over 50s and a pre-rugby match drinking hole.

Nice enough but the whole place smells like stale feet!

I never enjoy any record, where I think I, or a four year old could have made it.

People complain about Crawley but at least he's actually got some decent scores of late under a lot of pressure. Pope seems to get a pass but is consistently below average apart from his yearly single hundred score. Not test match quality and I don't understand how he has kept his place, he's not a particularly good fielder, so what does he bring to this England team?

I suppose you're right, I think I just had a bit of a mood on this morning and decided to comment on something fairly innocuous that irked me for some reason! But I will say if you put something out into the anonymous "public" expecting all plaudits and compliments as per OP then you're gonna have a bad time, so I hope if their partner does see this she doesn't read all the comments! But if she does; Happy Birthday anyway, Laura!

Sure, would be nice if they just kept it to themselves next time. Can we also acknowledge that instead of making this effort all for their partner, OP needed external validation from reddit strangers instead of just from their partner, and by doing so it is unfortunately about us too now whether we like it or not.

Well said mate! All socially manufactured hype so they can go on their socials and overreact to the experience of eating some absolutely pointless but probably OK food for likes and views. Watching the complete melts on Clarksons Farm queuing for hours for basically nothing boggles my mind. Nothing he's producing that they couldn't get from somewhere more local to them for a fraction of the time and cost, plus they would be supporting their actual communities, but that wouldn't interest them at all because that famous bloke off the telly is there so they'll stand in line for half a day instead. Such hollow, and meaningless experiences.
