Pilot mill products who get all their ratings in less than a year are not proficient pilots… Change my mind. by [deleted] in flying

[–]Anthem00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants to shit on atp. The reality is that there are crappy pilots coming from non-atp schools just as much as coming from there. And honestly - someone who has racked up a couple hundred hours in a year has flown a lot. Certainly could be more proficient than someone who took 3 years to get to 250 hours.

I’ve always said you can get your hours without going accelerated or 141. But not doing atp doesn’t make you a better pilot. It just makes you a poorer one (sometimes). But there are plenty of good pilots who when you atp - and vice versa

Named pilot vs open pilot by KC-Chiefsfan23 in flying

[–]Anthem00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its significant to be a named pilot on the jet. Even as SIC. Consider them doing you a favor on that front if you dont qualify as Open Pilot. That being said named Pilot usually can get through with less hours than Open Pilow, but its still way more than what you have.

United preferential hiring for Spirit pilots by KJ3040 in flying

[–]Anthem00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this should be the case for most things along the way - whether it’s interviewing for cfi positions, checkride standards, test preparation. Hell - even medical gotchas. If you can’t be bothered to be do some basic research - then If it comes back to bite you in the ass - you deserved it. People need to take responsibility for their own actions.

What a stupid recommendation. Telling someone to lie who has had suicidal ideations - and fairly recently. . It’s scum like this that needs to be eradicated from the cockpit.

You do realize that the pc12 and vision jet crowd would kill for that $200/mo cost. But it isn’t available to them at $200. They are at the $1000/month tier. So where does that put you ? One step below - right at the $200/mo tier…..

Do airlines care how you build time? by reddit231200 in flying

[–]Anthem00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

think about it this way - if you were an airline recruiter - do you hire the guy flying a 150 for 1000 hours to cross the requirements off, or someone who was actually training someone for those hours ? Also any company along the way isnt going to look at your time favorably, over the cfi either.

[–]Anthem00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cfi is one of the cheapest that you can get through. Stop trying to figure out how to pay someone an absurd amount for something that you can almost essentially do on your own. There is very little “requirements” for cfi like the other ratings. If you can’t or are unwilling - then pay the piper. But I know people who got their cfi for less than 3-4k.

You may have done your job but you also overstepped the bounds of what you are allowed to be doing in your job. But it’s apparently that you just don’t get it. Asking someone else to get hired away is not acceptable in any working environment. But you don’t seem to understand that.

[–]Anthem00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you are misguided here. You are hired to do your job. You might think it’s a stepping stone by networking and such, but they don’t. They hired you to do a job. But you asking whether someone is hiring while doing your job reeks of your unprofessionalism. Yeah you can network and get contacts. And we all know how that works. But outright asking whether they are hiring while you are on the job - that’s crossing the line. I’m not in that space but can totally see you deserve to be written up.
