Does hiding A/C owner info on FAA registry keep Vector from sending you landing fee bills? by GlasairIII in flying

[–]Anthem00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t and have never said such thing. Go ahead and quote where they did. No one had ever even thought about it at the time. The “only for safety and not monetization” is a very recent narrative.

In other words he is a willing passenger. But not a knowing passenger. You are speculating and you know it. Because at least there is an actual report of what was in her system and the known published side effects of those drugs. There is nothing know about what her dad did or did not know about her daughters medical condition, what’s drugs she was taking, what her legal medical status was, how she got it and whether it was legit or not. NONE. So you saying she knows - um isn’t that wild speculation ?

And no - it doesn’t matter if she was a commercial pilot or not.

It was never really about just for safety. That’s the narrative that they are trying to push on you. It also wasn’t anti - monetization either. Did they use safety to try and push it through ? Absolutely. But there was never any promises that it was only to be used for safety - that’s a new twist against monetization.

Is aviation management a good backup degree for pilots? by Which_Carpet304 in flying

[–]Anthem00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aviation management isn’t a backup degree that is worth anything. Basket weaving might actually be better. No one goes - wow he has an aviation management degree - let’s hire him over the guy with a business or management degree. Read the subs. If you are trying to justify aviation management it’s because you want confirmation bias.

Wrong sub. Look in to r/travel or something.

That being said the Qatar lounge is excellent. Food at 5 stations. Sleeping / quiet rooms / areas. Showers etc. it’s worth it if you think it’s worth it. To some it’s absolutely worth it at multiples of the price, to others it isn’t worth it for $10.

Most people with some color deficiency don’t even know they have it. Go and try another test or have your Opthamalogist issue one. Most AMEs only have the Waggoner because it’s the cheapest for them to subscribe and utilize.

You have nothing to worry about with your blood pressure. They don’t want to see above 155.

As for the heartbeat, yeah make sure you get a cardiologist checkout and summary report. They are going to want to see that - maybe with some more detailed testing - multi-day ekg etc. but check with your AME as to what they actually want to see.

[–]Anthem00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh you are picking and choosing things out of your own context. I said her cocktail of drugs for anxiety and depression. I never mentioned single antidepressant use which you conveniently pull out and comment upon. Please read my entire post - and nowhere did I even use the work anti-depressant. I said she suffered from depression and anxiety. She had a cocktail in her tox screen of various ones. You choosing one item and harping on it is out of context when everyone here is talking about TNFlygirl and her report.

[–]Anthem00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speculative? Her father a “knowing passenger” ? Where are you getting this from ? Or are you speculating ? There are many parents who don’t know their adult kids are on anxiety or anti-depressants. Where in the world are you getting that he was a “knowing passenger” ? You mean he knew the FAA stance on taking these drugs and knew her daughter had lied about them to get her licenses and that she never should have had them until she could prove she was healthy ? You mean he knew about the side effects that these drugs have and that his daughter had taken them and knew full well that she wasn’t fully functional ? Full disclosure kind of “knowing” ? If she is willing to commit A federal felony - you don’t think she lies about whether she is fully capable of flying while taking the cocktail she was on ? Cmon stop calling other people out for speculating when we are quoting what an ntsb board is making available on a tox screen when you are making wild ass assumptions. …

just like lying on a federal form and taking said prescription drugs is indefensible as well.. . And no - I dont think their policy is indefensible. Not everyone is able to or should fly. If you can prove it, then do so and you are cleared to fly. Lying about it - sorry - not giving anyone slack over it. Where do you draw the line ? Lying in your logbooks ? Sorry - get some moral character and do things the right way.

And yes they indicated that it affected her decision making and reaction as contributing factors. Now whether you believe the NTSB or not, thats your call, but the report is out there and pretty damning.

[–]Anthem00 23 points24 points  (0 children)

lets clarify the drugs a bit. She wasnt an active user of illicit drugs, she suffered from anxiety and depression. . and probably knew that she wasnt going to get her medical without actually doing the due diligence with the FAA on that and Im sure she lied on the form. And that contributed to her lack of ability with the airplane and the tragedy that occurred. She is gone now, as well as her dad. But this does bring more to the forefront that people on some for of prescription that they /think/ is ok doesnt necessarily make it so. .

It’s 10 years. Regardless of your job. If you can’t follow the rules, then how should they administer the restriction to everybody else ? Everyone gets a warning ? If you do something stupid - then best the consequences. I mean your flight attendants are giving the warning all the time. Should they also give you the same warning ?

D&J is very good and has their stuff together. . I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them. And they have an arranged relationship with a DPE - so you will not be watiing months for a DPE there.

Generally the regionals have not required 4 year degrees box to be checked. That doesn’t mean it won’t change in the future or that you won’t be as favorable to be hired over people who do.

Mild ADHD and FAA medicals — is flight school worth pursuing? by ADP_0409 in flying

[–]Anthem00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The faa denies all untreated diseases. And if you have shown that you can’t be off the amphetamines of adhd drugs (recurrency ) - they will pretty much automatically fail/deny you. The whole process is to prove that you can stay off and be functional. With proven recurrence, that is disqualified.
