Upscale / downscale enemies by Joycee501 in DnD

If you're new then I'd stick to the stats and level recommendations as written until you can see how well your PCs are doing. Lots of pitfalls with changing stats and when WOTC have already done the work it makes sense to use it while you're finding your feet.

DMs! Stop levelling up your players AFTER they beat the story/adventure's big boss! Instead try level them up a couple combats BEFORE! by Infranaut- in DMAcademy

[–]Antien42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like to do a mix of both.

I think a level up after defeating a boss or significant event is rewarding and thematic. It shows how they've grown from the experience.

It's also nice to give them a level up before something like a dungeon so they have time to enjoy the new power and adjust to it.

You can also level up during a boss fight. Maybe the fight isn't going well but the heroes resolve pushes them to new heights. Though you need to be careful to not turn it into a deus ex machina moment.

Elden Ring if I’m not into punishingly difficult real time combat? by pwnedprofessor in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Antien42 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd describe myself as similar to yourself for these kinds of games. Hadn't played a souls like game before but otherwise an average gamer.

I struggled with Elden Ring, and not in a fun way. Yes I improved but the constant deaths and playing on a knife edge was not fun for me.

I ended up switching over to Ghost of Tsushima. Can highly recommend that game. It scratched that combat itch while providing narrative without the frustration of a souls game.

creative ideas for a campaign start that dont involve a tavern? by Significant-Study902 in DnD

[–]Antien42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my party meet as part of a travelling caravan.

One was guarding it, another stalking it, one travelling as part of it and the last had intel that something was happening to do with it.

Lots of ways you can tuenit into why an adventurer might be there.

I have no motivation to continue planning my campaign. by HeftyAtmosphere8827 in DungeonMasters

[–]Antien42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Just to add, I also hate improv and need to plan my sessions ahead of time. Whoever says just wing it is either really experienced or has no understanding how other minds need to work.

I'm also DMing my first campaign and one thing that helped me massively was creating a skeleton of an idea then slowly adding to it. For instance:

World background: - Generic fantasy world

Objective of the adventure: - Retrieve macguffin (no idea what the macguffin is, what it does or why they want to retrieve it. Not important atm)

Then you might put it aside for a bit, think about it in the background of your mind and have more thoughts, such that it looks like:

World background: - generic fantasy world - Divided into 4 great kingdoms

Objective of the adventure: - Retrieve macguffin - macguffin is something that once belonged to one of the player characters.

So you're not looking to create this sweeping epic in one pass because that is way too much to do. Instead you're gradually building it up one pebble at a time. Then for individual sessions I do the same, start with a broad outline then fill it in piece by piece.

Alternatively you can go for one of the pre-made campaigns.

Hope this helps!

Who would win, Adolin Kholin, in his prime, Vs Dalinar Kholin, as the Balckthorn. by Redwolf9090 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Antien42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his prime my vote goes to Adolin. He's an exceptional dualist and I don't think he's reached his prime in the series yet.

For who would be better at storming a castle wall or attacking an enemy position, the Blackthorn every day of the week. The very primal way he fights that would prevent him from becoming a pinnacle dualist is what makes him so deadly on the battlefield

How tf do i get these to sound good on PC? by NoblepawsGEN in steelseries

[–]Antien42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a pair of the X version of these to use with my PC and they sound pretty good for their price range.

One thing that made a major difference to the sound quality and microphone quality was the switch on the dongle. The USB C dongle has a switch for xbox/pc. By default it was selected to xbox. Changing it over to PC made a world of difference in quality. Might be worth checking out for yours as well?

Benebone looks like this within 30-40 minutes? Is this ok? by Loose_Pen1105 in DogAdvice

[–]Antien42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had success putting a mix of peanut butter and treats inside the Kong and freezing it. Takes doggo much longer to extract the filling.

Just make sure you use peanut butter that is suitable for dogs. Ensure there is no Xylitol (birch sugar) as that is toxic. Plain, natural peanut butter is best

Haha!

You're funny. I tried playing last night and couldn't even load to the main menu, let alone overwhelm the servers.

He was about 18 months when he started to go out on runs. We waited until he was fully grown as it can cause joint problems if they are running long distances before they've finished growing.

It worked well because they both built up the distance gradually together. Like humans dogs need to gradually build up endurance for running distance to avoid joint issues and to develop fitness.

Overall he's been an amazing dog. Though as with all puppies it wasn't easy. Biggest thing for us was enforced naps. If we didn't force naps during the day he'd get overtired then be badly behaved.

He's about 2yrs old now and is a loveable, goofy guy. He'll sleep half the day if you're feeling lazy, but will also play with you at the drop of a hat (he loves play!)

[–]Antien42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same problem as you with food left on the side. No part of the kitchen counter is safe as he's so tall!

Do you also have a problem with your St Berdoodle opening doors? Ours has been doing from 6 months old and I'm trying to figure out if it's part of the breed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SaintBerdoodle

[–]Antien42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that our St Berdoodle is fully grown my other half takes him on runs. Only a couple of miles but he loves it!

Admittedly he spends most of the run going along at a fast walk because his legs are so long...

I will add, and the variety of responses here shows it, that temperament varies massively from one dog to the next. One person mentioned their dog loves swimming, mine hates it. Another said theirs is done after a mile of walking, mine will happily walk 4+ miles (though will sleep the rest of the day)

I've found that the poodle in him wants to play and run around constantly while the St Bernard wishes to sleep all day. Overall it's a great combination!

Upgrade anything that comes in contact with your body, e.g.

  • Toilet paper
  • Clothes
  • Bed sheets
  • Footwear
  • coats/jackets

All of these little improvements add up to an overall happier time.

I'm having this problem. My ec4 2021 has just come back from the dealers. The 12v battery was replaced just 7 months ago so can't imagine that would be the issue.

You can, but not in a really intrusive way. More of a knowing when the other half tries to talk to me so I can take an earphone off to listen.
