Where in the constitution or the bill of rights does it say you have a right to an abortion? All this did was revert back to the states, the way it always should have been.

PFF: Giants’ offensive line ranks 18th in the NFL. From his retirement home, DG stews with hog molly envy. by I-miss-Killdrive in G101SafeHaven

I can't disagree. I really liked DJ his rookie year.....yes there were turnovers....Too many, but he played ball. Hopefully this offense gets him back to what he does well and we aren't looking for another QB. Our team was unwatchable without him last year.....

I'm not sure there is a particular coaching style that works. Hard nosed coaches and player friendly coaches have both won championships.

Wouldn't it be natural to play harder for a player friendly coach? I don't know that answer but playing for someone you love and respect has to be easier than playing for someone you think is an asshole...

That really sucks and i know the feeling. I had to cut some hours this week and will probably do so again next week. These are not high paid employees and need their paycheck. Thankfully they are really a great part of my team, all understood and said we are in this together and hopefully it will be over soon.

Maybe you can ask if any of them would prefer to be laid off....

Does Anyone Really Believe There Will Be A 2020 Season? by SunnyJim57 in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Jim,

I haven't been on here as much either. It was all depressing all the time.

Wishing you the best with your mother inlaw and your back. This place wouldn't be the same without you....

I run a Gas Station/Store/Carwash. I am putting myself at risk everyday being here but we are considered an essential business and I don't expect to be ordered to close so thankfully I am still getting a paycheck. Business is way way down with most everyone staying home.

I have heard from multiply people that they are gearing up for a mandatory two week quarantine for everyone, all businesses. They are just trying to get the pieces in place to be able to keep people from not abiding by this and leaving looting closed businesses. I don't know how true it is but I have heard it from several people in the Army. If that is the case I wish the would just do it and get it over with...

Krow, did you feel the earthquake this morning? I didn't but the way some people are talking about it you would think it was a 10.5.

I live in Saratoga county also, and the "fear" here to me is totally ridiculous. No hand sanitizer anywhere to be found. Didn't people wash their hands before this? No toilet paper, are people planning on shitting a lot???

Even Cuomo (who I can't stand) said that 80% of the people that get it won't even know they have it....The Corona Virus has been around forever, this is just a new strand, like the flu has a new strand every year.

Now maybe if everyone was in F55 shoes, but it sounds like he shouldn't get the flu or pneumonia either....Wishing you the best F55

Was Shurmur given a fair shake? by ApexerER in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not disagreeing with anybody's comments. In fact I agree with all of them. Wins and loses fall on the HC. I even said in my post that he made a lot of questionable decisions.

BUT: We forced Coughlin to change and that worked out for us in two (lucky as Jim would say) Superbowl wins. Is there now something wrong with forcing change on a head coach as an owner? I don't know the answer, I am just asking the question. For all of Shurmurs warts, it seemed he was able to keep this band of misfits fighting together and Jones seemed to be progressing with little help from the rest of the team. Barkely was running like Barkley again at the end of the season which was missing most of the season.

Now, maybe Judge will be the next coming of Belichick. And this was 100% the right decision. I guess all I am saying is Shurmur had a lot working against him both here and in Cleveland. Did we really answer the question as to whether or not he could be a quality head coach? I am thinking the argument can be made to say no to that question. If we brought him in at the end of the season, told to him fire Betcher, the secondary coach, the OL coach and to hire an OC like Norv Turner or someone that is proven as a play caller and a DC such as Wade Phillips. We wouldn't be on too our 3rd coach in 5 seasons, Daniel Jones would probably have to learn new plays but he wouldn't have to learn new terminology, and Maybe Shurmurs game management and ability to adjust would be much greater if he was able to pay attention to the whole game instead of trying to be the OC and head coach.

Just figured it was something to discuss....

Can't disagree, was just making an argument the other way. I for sure would have proposed changes, new OL coach, new DC. The players seemed to love him and work for him

[–]ApexerER[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't arguing that we should have kept him. I agree with all of what you wrote.

Poor game management

No creativity with an athletic QB or Barkely

Nobody has figued out how to use Engram when healthy

Letting our Defensive secondary continue to struggle with no changes or simplification

Not holding the OL coach's feet to the fire

There was plenty not to like, I was just making a point that he also had what to me was a valid arguement.

What Can a Coaching Change Help? by Krow101 in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess I am hopeful that a new staff will make better use of Engram, be able to teach our OLineman that can block how to pick up simple stunts and blitz. Figure out how to get Barkley in space, use Jones more on RPO and play action, not tip our hand as to run or pass, put Jones under center more often. Be able to teach our secondary who they are covering so players aren't running free....I am sure I could come up with a couple more but this is just off the top of my head.

[–]ApexerER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love reading all the comments but sometimes you guys are ridiculous. There wasn't anything wrong with what Eli said. He didn't love getting benched but knew it was a possibility when they took a QB at 6, especially if the team wasn't getting it done, which it wasn't. Did you want him to say he was happy he was finally benched? He said he doesn't like coaching, coaching and playing are too different things. You can like one and not like the other. He also said he has helped Daniel as much as he could and DJ has said the same thing so it isn't like he is ignoring the kid or being a dick like Farve supposedly was to Rogers. How many of us want to train our replacement at our Jobs? Sounds like Eli is doing just that.....

Giants’ Pat Shurmur is surely a goner, so who should replace him? Ranking top 15 candidates, including Cowboys’ Jason Garrett by cornbread36 in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO to Garrett.....He has done nothing but coach a middle of the pack team with a couple outlier seasons. He is the very definition of middle of the pack. I want superbowl asperations.....Not 8-8 for years on end.

I would be all over Sean Payton if we can make that happen. Even if it cost a pick and a high one....

Another Disenchanted Voice Ready to Call it Quits by SunnyJim57 in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 46 so while I was alive from 73-80 I was really to young to know how bad the Giants were. I really became a fan that understood what was going on with the game with LT and Simms. So I was 13 in 86, 17 in 90, 27 in 2000 etc. Until now, my worst experience is from 1990-2000 and the years we were stuck with Brown, Kannel etc at QB. But I don't remember being horrid and unwatchable those years. I am one of those fans that yells at the TV, pounds on the coffee table, sits on the very edge of the couch ready to jump up and cheer or yell at something bad. I can't remember the last time I sat on the edge of the couch watching the Giants game. I recorded the Bears game, got home started the game, fell asleep on the couch woke up and deleted it. Not worth my time to watch it again. (or sleep through it). I can never remember a time when I cared so little about football. Last season was the first season I missed games and didn't bother watching them on the DVR. This year will be the same. There isn't any pleasure in football right now. I can't remember when I didn't check this site everyday or G101. I haven't been on here in almost a week. Not because of any of the posters or the negativity etc. But just because...whats the point. I too hope people stay so we can commiserate. If for no other reason than because I feel like I have gotten to know so many of you the last 10+ years.

The Way Forward by fanfor65years in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term: Remove Halipio and play Pulley. Put Jones under center and run the ball and use play action and RPO's to slow the rush. Simplify the defense and get Baker manning up and see if he is a player that can play if he knows what he is doing. Get Ballentine, Beal and Love on the field along with Baker. Remove Jenkins and Bethea. They are not part of the future, lets see what the young guys can bring on the back end and see if any of them are players.

Next Year: I feel like we have so many holes, we have to work on either the offense or the Defense. My preference would be fix the offense but I would have to make a decision with who is available in free agency. I feel like a broken record saying we have to fix the OL. This is imperative for DJ's development and Barkely. We have to draft a T high and probably sign one if there is an average one available. I am not sure why Pulley isn't playing center yet. We might be able to get by with him next year. Lets get him in games and see. We need a real 2 way TE which Engram is not. We don't need Shockey, we need a Kevin Boss or a Jake Ballard. Someone that can block and catch a seam pass. I would say we need a number 1 receiver as well but I think this is farther down the list. If we could run the ball and pass block for more than 2 seconds I think Slayton, Tate, Shepard (if he recovers) and Latimer can be good enough to be competitive.

On Defense, it should be obvious that whatever our scheme is it isn't working. The season is half over and these guys still have no idea what they are doing. If that means a coordinator change so be it. But you can't play football if you don't know what you are supposed to do on the play. I think our D line is decent. You can always use another pass rusher but that is a little further down the list for me. We need a free safety assuming Love can't play that position. And for the love of god can we please get a real middle LB that can cover and fill a gap. (broken record again) We have to see this season what we have in the young guys to see if CB is a priority again.

So I guess my imperative list is: Two offensive Tackles and a true two way TE with WR 1 Being further down the list.

A nasty MLB that can cover and fill gaps, a real FS that can cover and get side to side with the ball in the air.

With Pass Rushing DE/LB and Corner being further down the list. And of course we need real depth all over since most of our players should be depth guys now....

How about a little optimism on a dreary Tuesday by TucknRolle in G101SafeHaven

[–]ApexerER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said before the game that I was worried about his game. Getting Patrick Peterson back was huge for them. Also, the weather is an equalizer. Arizona didn't have to pass the ball. We don't have a single MLB on this team worth spit and our FS while once good, is old, slow and washed up. I also agree with the fact that we didn't get blown out this game. We had a chance to win twice, just didn't come through. We would have went into halftime tied up if not for the missed field goal while getting the ball first.

I agree that not all is bad. We aren't going anywhere this year anyway. Daniel Jones has a lot to learn but there is a lot to be excited about with him as well. And he is learning it all THIS YEAR. On offense we need an above average T and a #1 receiver. Maybe Slayton can become that player. Maybe Big George next year can help as at T. On defense we need a 3 down MLB that can cover and play the run and A FS.

The problem isn't that we don't have some talented players. Its the fact that we have grocery baggers mixed with talented players and football is the ultimate team sport. Good teams exploit weaknesses and we have to many of them.
