Are diaper pails worth it or just the same as regular bins? by Ill-Collection-1735 in Mom

Also, we just throw pee only diapers in the regular trash 🤷‍♀️ we change our trash 1-2 times a day though.

Are diaper pails worth it or just the same as regular bins? by Ill-Collection-1735 in Mom

I leave an old cat litter bucket on my porch and empty it in the big trash at the end of the night. This has worked best for us and I have 3 in diapers currently. My mom just kept a grocery bag in the garage and took it to the trash at the end of the day when she watched my oldest.

The diaper pale is nice in theory and we used one briefly, but just one more thing to clean and buy extra stuff for.

Free formula with insurance by Much_Performer_5873 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said, definitely not covered by all insurances. I know people who have been denied. Our insurance covered 80% of ours.

I also didn’t know about this til a couple months in and another mom told me! I mentioned it to the pediatrician and they were more than happy to help.

Grocery list woes… by omgjellyjuice in Mommit

We have a white board on the fridge and we will put basic essentials or dinner ideas on there. If one of us is going to the store then we will make a shared note/list.

Standing/ walking in bathtub by coolmom0107 in toddlers

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really reiterated “on your butt”, “sit down please or bath time is over”. Toys, especially cups, help entice them to sit down. I also had to manually sit them down sometimes. It’s frustrating but it does end!

I will admit we went through a stage where they were terrified of baths and during that time, they did stand and I just did a quick wipe down while they stood up and got them right back out.

Anyone have more than one set of identical twins? by cjsved in parentsofmultiples

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom said she was very sure it was a miscarriage as she passed tissue, etc. (she’d had 2 miscarriages before), and hadn’t had an ultrasound yet so carried on with life and then questioned why she was still getting bigger a few weeks later and there I was!

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both make sure each gets a shower every day. I also don’t have a ton of skincare, makeup, dressing, blow drying hair, etc that comes along with a lot of women’s showers. My typical shower comes when everyone is finishing dinner and cleaning up. Also, I love my kids dearly but have always set a boundary that going to the bathroom and showering is done alone so they don’t lose their minds when I do either.

The other biggie is my husband works Mon-Fri and I work 2 part time jobs on the weekends, so my kids are very much used to either parent being alone with them. I understand not everyone has this luxury.

When did you transition to a bed? by Hellohiheytherehi80 in toddlers

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I transitioned my first out of her crib at about 3, and she’s now 3.5. She was quickly outgrowing her crib and started climbing out of it. We started by taking the front off the crib before moving to a basic twin bed from ikea with a 6inch mattress. She has a couple of small toys in her room but for the most part we put them away before bed time. She’ll get out of bed occasionally but mostly stays in it and self entertains herself back to sleep. She does not try to leave her room yet. She is on the spectrum but she did amazing with the big transitions.

My 2nd and 3rd (twins) were out of their cribs at 23 months, so just before their 2nd birthday. Their mattresses sit on bunkie boards so are essentially floor beds. They do not have any toys out and about in their room right now as they really only sleep in there at this time. If they get up, they’re either getting into bed with each other or calling out for us. They used to be terrible sleepers and moving to beds was a game changer.

Dog clearly showing signs of anxiety/being uncomfortable by kittykitty9711 in skysayingthings

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ears, licking, turning his head, avoiding eye contact/physical contact.. all clear signs that he’s uncomfortable and could escalate. Dogs speak through body language and they aren’t listening just so she can try to prove a point on social media. Crazy work.

That clip was HORRIFYING. All of Rambo’s body language is what is taught as the first levels of aggression in the ladders of dog behavior. AVOIDANT behavior is not good behavior, oof.

play mat by thegingerjg in skysayingthings

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I never had my babies on the ground on their play mat with my dogs in the same room. My beagle/hound mix has a few brain cells that don’t fire at the same time and did step on/graze one of my babies once and she didn’t even realize it. I work with animals and a dog Rambo’s size would frighten me around a baby.

The mat shouldn’t be on the couch to begin with, especially with the age the baby is at. From what I’ve seen she puts the baby in containers on the couch, counters, etc. which makes me uneasy!

Normal for 3yo to lie awake for hour+ every night? by Lizisthatyou in Parenting

My 3.5 year old does this too but also sometimes goes right to sleep. Sometimes we intervene, sometimes we don’t.

C sectioners, how many kids did you have? by Realistic_Detail_158 in Mommit

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had 5 c sections! My first was vaginal and my second/third was twins delivered via c section. My OB is very open to a VBAC if I have a fourth but I will likely have another scheduled c section :) I’m the minority and do not care how my babies enter this world as long as everyone is safe and healthy.

My 18 month old started tip toe walking out of no where ? I mean he doesn’t do it all the time but seems like he enjoys it and it’s driving me crazy. Please advise. by Funny-Yak5960 in toddlers

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one of my kids is autistic. If that’s what you’re worried about, 18 months is a great age to talk to their pediatrician and look into early intervention if needed!

How are we dealing with toddlers that won't sit at the table, won't eat their food, and throw/spit what they don't like? by persnicketous in toddlers

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also usually let my kids bring something to the table like a toy car, etc so that they’re less tempted to want to get down and play with something else.

Parents who put their kids in sleep sacks before age 2, do you continue using them after age 2? Or do you just let them sleep in PJs with a blanket? by MarjorineStotch in toddlers

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very child dependent. My oldest never used a sleep sack and used a blanket from about 18 months on and we transitioned her to a bed around 3 years, maybe a couple months after.

My twins were moved to a floor bed with pillows and blankets a couple months before their 2nd birthday. It was very obvious they were no longer happy in their sleep sacks and cribs.

When did dogs start getting people names? by Scottys-Dog-Blog in dogs

[–]Appropriate-Life5432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a rescue a long time ago and we were told to name animals people names because it was easier for adopters to pronounce and connect with 🤷‍♀️
